I’ve got the original mtx3 and I purchased mine just before the version 2 came out and I was kicking myself but I’m hearing the original is better 😂 thanks for the review mate
Just bought the mtx3 v2, got to say I liked it, had hold of a map501 and wasn’t impressed. I like map pole as I have an old generation carp. Still a good pole. Can’t wait to try the mtx out tomorrow. Matrix make good tackle at a competitive price. Depends on your budget. Thanks for your reviews, each to their own as they say👍
Love the fact that you give an honest opinion. In fact I don't think I've ever seen a really tell all review like these before. Massive respect. Have you reviewed the Garbolino poles? Looking at buying a new pole but would like to keep my garbo top kits!
i held the new mtx 5 few weeks ago and came out shop with a maver mv rxx ! take some beating the maver! The mtx5 was very stiff and responsive but just felt more top heavy than the mv rxx but did feel stronger than the maver!
Was looking at this pole but now confused after seeing the review and comments. Not keen on preston after having a m50 where the joints seemed weak. Now dunno what to go for. G90, garbolino ..
I guess the long mini butt to fit the 13m section makes the pole measure a true 13m so they can sell on the continent with their 13m pole limit by just not supplying the extensions?
Watched both these reviews Ben And I'm totally shocked Matrix make good tackle ,and this isnt This is why I like your channel, you say it as it is And help average anglers from wasting money on bad tackle Still expected the new range of mtx range to be far better than preston I shan't be buying one How good is the mtx5? Great review Keep them coming.
After watching this Video having watched the MTX4 V2 I feel the only one worth some of my money is the MTX3 V2 at 13 and 14.Meters and that doesnt say much for both products.I feel there are a number of Competitor products available which in my opinion leave the MTX 3 and 4 trailing in their wake. Good video's Ben.
@@Angling4U many thanks for your reply , will stick with my mtx3 v1 for the foreseeable future . I still have a Maver H41 from many years ago and the listed weights aren’t much different . Should get them both side by side just as a matter of interest
Matrix have had a shocker with these poles. I hope the shop doesn't have a lot of stock in, because I can't see them shifting many after people see this and the MTX4 videos!
Haven't you recently had surgery on your shoulder Ben? Forgive me for asking but as someone who has had several shoulder surgeries to be clear I think you should state this when commenting regarding the weight and comfort of a pole. Dependant on what part of your shoulder the issue is present can have an effect on strength as well as comfort positioning.
Totally disagree with your analysis of this pole. The new V2 is a huge improvement over the original and for the money there is nothing to compare in the market, slimmer than the Preston drainpipe!
Thanks for your input, obviously you don’t Back this up with any technical specs or your height and weight, but I am sure you will provide a link if you do. Everyone is different, wallet size, tart factor, height, your weight, style of fishing etc. That’s why it’s imperative that you go to a pole alley for a waggle.! And to factor in “wind.!” Thanks for honest review Ben 👍🎣
Tony so because youve obviously got one you dont like the truth 😂 the pole looks crap. I personally use a diawa original silver tournament pro and i can guarantee my pole will knock spots of this pole hands down and its 20 years old but looks new because i got it second hand and the bloke hardly ever used it .People will buy matrix poles just because Jamie hughes is sponsored by them 😂 Only poles worth buying in my opinion are diawa, preston and if money is no object browning. You probably only fish your pole at 10 metres and think its great 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sorry pal but got to say preston got it absolutely spot on with the superium range much much better than the matrix poles. I was always a daiwa man until I had a go with the superium poles and am fully converted now
MTX3 V1=Weight @ 13m 825g Price = £1,399.99 Weight @ 14.5m 1150g Weight @ 16m 1475g MTX3 V2=Weight @ 13m 839g Price = £1,499.99 Weight @ 14.5m 1175g Weight @ 16m 1519g It appears the V2 is not an improvement over the V1 version and it costs more. Neither are really fishable at 16 metres. Matrix appear to have gone backwards and need to go back to the drawing board imo. They definitely need to continue to manufacture the V1 versions or they will lose sales. They have got this wrong. The MTX3 and MTX4 V1 versions are very good poles for the money. Under the current financial climate. Matrix needs a rethink. My suggestion is that they offer the MTX3 V1 as a budget option at 14.5 metres only, and include a short 3 section, which makes a big difference to this pole. Then all you need to do is only fish at venues with pole limits. The guys with fat wallets and 4 grand poles can sit and stare at their 16 metres sections whilst still in the bag.
Thank you for your review I know my next-door pole will be a Preston.
I went and tested it out the other day its shocking I’m glad I tested it out instead of ordering. Went with the x70 in the end and over the moon

Agreed

Best to make up your own mind, have you tried the Shimano Aero x5 same price range.
I guess the long mini butt to fit the 13m section makes the pole measure a true 13m so they can sell on the continent with their 13m pole limit by just not supplying the extensions?
Yeah I suppose mate I just felt it spoiled how it felt
Watched both these reviews Ben

@Angling 4 U I won't be buying one,
But will be interesting if its not good too being their flagship pole
Great video Ben thank you 😊 how would you compare the mtx 4/5 to a map 901?
not seen the 5 yet. but 901 is an awesome bit of kit. be warned nearly impossible to get sections
Great reviews Ben have you done one on the map 501.

I think I saw a matrix mtx- E3 ultra pro there with the other poles, can you please make a quick rewiev on that ?
Yes bud
Ben , love your reviews , would you say the original version is better than the new version ?
Yes and no V2 feels way stronger but V1is lighter
@@Angling4U many thanks for your reply , will stick with my mtx3 v1 for the foreseeable future . I still have a Maver H41 from many years ago and the listed weights aren’t much different . Should get them both side by side just as a matter of interest
Im going to wait for v5 next month 😊
I'll try to get my hands on it.
Matrix have had a shocker with these poles. I hope the shop doesn't have a lot of stock in, because I can't see them shifting many after people see this and the MTX4 videos!
yeah I thought so but I would try for yourself as everyone is different
He’s doing it again (wearing Preston to a matrix review)hahaha
on purpose so i wasn't accused of been sponsored lol
Will you be doing a review on the Maver r3
when i can mate
What did you think of the old mtx 3 better than the new ones
It was in my opinion but softer side walls. I would try for yourself as everyone is different
Wow thought it would be a improvement after all the hype reputation destroyer for matrix
I would try for yourself as everyone is different
Hi hello can you tell me we’re the Angling for you shop is thank you
Going from some previous pole review videos he’s done it looks like Fishing Tackle and Bait in Doncaster.
Its not an angling 4 u shop bud. Its fishing tackle and bait doncaster

shoulder is trapped nerve. Doesn't affect strength just twinges sometimes
Would you buy this or the Map 501 3g?
Middy xi20 or xp35
It's nice to see a true review for once I bet matrix love you now he he!
I expect not. I would try for yourself as everyone is different

personal opinions mate glad you like it
100% anyone if they can should go test it first, all people are different. I had 6 others different build but same opinion.

Think a quick check on your clothing before doing this review would have been a good idea. Kinda gives the game away!😂
I wore it on purpose if i wore matrix it would look worse
I take it’s not as good as v1
not in my opinion I would try for yourself as everyone is different
