Long overdue video from the Dinaric rally 2020, this time about the actual riding and more personal view in how it was to do the race.
It also shows what I have struggled with in terms of terrain, gear failures and mistakes I've been doing.
Being able to go through the footage again it just brings wonderful memories of the racing but mainly of the competitors and the Dinaric rally team.

Respect for riding that terrain on a 200kg bike 😉
Thanks, I really was furious when the 350/450 just flew by so effortlessly or the quads... felt... unfair :)
Hey, for as many times as you crashed, that was still an impressive ride in tough conditions. Way to go. Thanks for sharing.
:) Hehe, yep pretty happy with the performance of the build indeed.
Pavel - Very engaging insight into the rally - thank you for sharing it looks very exciting- cheers Oliver
Hi Oliver, the first Dinaric 2020 was really super nice event, very small and just about right with the difficulty for the 1st rally. The 2021 year (which I have not published much) was a bit bigger in terms of participants and more professional teams. It was longer but not too long so really good as well.
Unfortunately the price is jumping a lot 2020 for €350, 2021 for €500 and this year we're looking at around €1000 which is sadly over my budget.
But one thing I have to say... Dinaric rallies made me ride how I ride. Albania is rock, Croatia & Balkans is rock so I rode a lot of rock in last 2 years. One rally will give you as much experience as an average year I'd almost say.
@@FARANDFURTHER it looks like such an amazing experience but 1000 EUR is a lot of coin. I can totally see how this will push your skill level up quickly especially riding twin cylinder ADV bike like yours.
So, do you have other rallys on your calendar for 2022?
Hello! Yes the €1000 price tag is steep. I’m not sure but it’s a bit psychological for me because I booked for the Hispania rally, that got canceled and I never saw the money… 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤬
The rally is great training but this is too much for amateurs especially if one does not aspire for Dakar.
I’m riding Albania rally this year as a guide for one of my friends. There is also Roadbook experience in Romania which could be really interesting.
Other than that not really plans, let’s see how it goes.
@@FARANDFURTHER that is a real bummer to pay a start fee and not get the money back when the event is canceled. Thank you for the tips of the Albania and Romania rally- one of those days I would like to participate- enjoy your current trip ( I saw some nice pictures on instagram 😉)
@@MotoVibes Thanks… I hope it will be a trip so far it has been more fighting rules and improvising. We will see next week if I make it toTunisia!
nice summary !! Thank you for that. Maybe this year again ? ;-)
Let’s see where in the world one may be, if it’s Europe I really hope to make it!
That actually looks like a really cool race. It looks like something I could even do. Maybe not too quick, but I think I could make it. I just watched the Romaniacs video before this also though...so my perspective might be a bit skewed.
Romaniacs or Erzbergrodeo are different races, they are hard enduro. Dinaric, Hellas, Albania rally or Bosnia rally are much more laid back. You also pick you class you feel comfortable with and give it a shot. Rally raids are more about navigation and endurance than hard off-road.
@@FARANDFURTHER thanks for the breakdown. I'm going to look into similar things near me on the US east coast.
@@Slapsamillion most welcome 👍 Good luck!
Did you get anything on the suspension done? As I remember, you still have stock?
Not stock, I changed the rear spring to 85Nm and I used 12mm spacers in the front forks to get correct sag. Other than that still stock.
@@FARANDFURTHER It seems you are getting serious about this racing hobby, at some point you might need an upgrade. Did you get the RM3 steering damper? Looking at the trails, this would be a huge plus. Once the budget is there and it makes sense, I would go for the RM3 steering damper. A spring and spacers is also my budget option, but I am not riding these trails at your speed. The guys at MAD made a video about suspension for T7, not sure how applicable it is for racing. ua-cam.com/video/kaHbSTDxGFI/v-deo.html
Funny you mention RM3 steering damper... video is upcoming. The suspension does have limits and especially the front is not adequate for the serious rally riding. I'm at the moment struggling to be honest with justification of putting more money into suspension as for my normal travel around the world it is sufficient and the rallies will be just a hobby (I really don't aspire to race professionally).
The video from MAD is very useful, I watched it recently. They came to same conclusion as was my plan, upgrade front and leave rear (which just tuning it).
@@FARANDFURTHER I agree with you, dont spend money on it if you are just going to travel most of the time.
Happy New Year! Shit happens, twice you were concentrating too much on your opponent before you fell. I guess the more you participate at these events, the more clear headed you will become and be more focused on your perfect line.
Thanks! Yes, once I start trying to chase someone it is terrible. The problem is one needs to catch up, find safe moment for both to overtake and not mess up the line after so that the overtake does count.
Another thing I struggle with is when someone is behind, I really have bad feeling about that.
I think that's the practice of rally riding when they know how it feels and are not shaken by those situations.
@@FARANDFURTHER Its all mindgames, usually most kids start racing with 5 years, by the time they are teens, they are stone cold. You just have to keep going until you get that state of mind where you can detach yourself from that situation and not feel any pressure or distraction. I know, it is easier said than done.
100% as you say and even more about the "easier said than done". I always told myself before the special not to push it and to just have my own pace... difficult to do.
@@FARANDFURTHER " I always told myself before the special not to push it and to just have my own pace" LOL :-) i told exactly the same, but after 5 Min..... ;-) :-)
@@WernerLC- It’s very difficult to resist isn’t it :)
Great video mate, thanks for sharing! Awesome! best regards from Vienna :-) PS. How did you lift the rear wheel for oiling the chain? Did you use a branch?
Hi Steve, glad you liked it! I have my custom made trail stand, you can see it in the video I made together with @improbablyadventuring in Morocco. I'm using that trail stand for ages now, not 100% stable but does the trick for chain maintenance or taking the wheels off.

Parádní video!
Díky! Velmi podařená akce, pak je to jednoduchý :)
Man this T7 is taking a beating.
It put to good use, indeed! And she also holds together very well! 👍
Hi Nice video....when you crash, have you bent your standard bars or twisted the risers?....also do you wear knee brace etc?
Hi Simon,
The bike did survive the rally with minor damage but not where you'd think. I use Outback Motortek crashbars and they didn't move a bit. I don't have bar risers. I have the damage report and how the bike behaved in my other Dinaric video: ua-cam.com/video/RGbu7KmSsFQ/v-deo.html
In short, bent the Bark busters, cracked bash plate and dented the clutch cover.
Yes I wear body armour, knee brace & neck brace.
"dysšit" je česky makadam? :D
:) Tak nějak, ale nevim jestli bych si v ten moment na "makadam" zvpoměl čoveče :)
