He just downplayed an opportunity to discuss his charitable donations. That, that right there. That is the undeniable proof that Michael is a genuinely good person. True character is doing good things with no thought of reward. A man with character doesn’t draw focus to the good he does. He doesn’t do it for attention, he does it because he knows it’s right.

Yep, he doesn't have to chest-beat about his accomplishments to validate himself. He is a well balanced and thoughtful individual, to which I think one of the reasons of his successful life stems from the loyalty and trust bestowed on him from others. All in all, it's Michael simply being Michael.

Love the answers Michael! Our startup just crossed figures of ARR and a few thoughts for those looking to start their first business from what I have learned over the past 10+ years:
    1. Do NOT quit your day job until your new business either has serious traction and/or you physically can no longer work on both (100+ hour weeks). I worked a full-time job for the first 2 years of my first business before transitioning to that business full time. Most businesses take 18+ months before it can afford to pay you a salary. If you quit your job day one of your new business, you will likely run out of money before you business gets to initial traction.
    2. Your first business should cost you zero dollars to start or at least very close to zero. If YOU are the right person to start a particular business, you should be able to execute the initial stages of the vision with little to no capital. For example, if you have spent the last 10+ years developing software at your job, you are probably the right person to start a business that offers a product or service that requires software development. For someone who has zero experience with software development, the same business would cost them 10's of 1000's to start...
^ If you follow these two rules, there is literally next to zero financial risk to starting a business. Quitting your day job and taking on debt to start a business is like climbing Everest with an elephant on your back.

“A millionaire mindset is an attitude. It’s not about money. How much money you can make. It’s the difference between thinking positively and thinking negatively. Somebody that is succesfull thinks of all the great things they can achieve. Somebody that’s not, thinks of all the things that could go wrong.
If you can eliminate the part where all of the things that could go wrong, that’s how you have a millionaire mindset.”
    -Producer Michael.

One major thing new business owners need to do is save A LOT of money. Do not go out and buy a big house and cars just because you have some money on hand. You need to live small and save, save, save! You should always have enough money to float the business and your personal bills for at least a year or more. If you do not have that then you shouldn't be buying new homes, cars, toys.
I've seen so many people start a great business, and run it under because they had to have the million-dollar house and cars before they were in a stable enough place to really pay for them, so their dept ended up way more than their income, and then their business dropped for a couple of months, and they lost everything.
So just live light for however many years it takes to get you to that place where you can truly afford the finer things without putting your business in danger.

@Nic B They spend loads. Look at Michael on this channel... It's built on showing off extravagance.
Most millionaires and billionaires are far more asset rich than cash rich. Their "billionaire" wealth is actually from the value of the things they own, not the cash on hand. These assets produce some form of income which they are free to take. Either spend less than that flow of income, or commonly, ride loans with a lower interest than your projected growth rates (usually from continued investments).
Loans are very powerful when used appropriately. Just not when the things you buy stagnate or depreciate in value, or when your income doesn't increase.

Michael, the world is so sad right now, I went to get some groceries and, on the way, I saw a lot of non-essential business closed and I felt really sad going through an avenue who would usually be really busy that time of the day. Anyway, that thing you said about the mindset, it's so true and I thought it wasn't, dude I couldn't handle studying long hours, I was beaten and I blamed others for my failures, then, I stopped feeling sorry for myself and started studying really hard to graduate in electrical engineering and start a business and your videos along with long hours of bill burr's podcast helped me change that about me, I've been studying hard since and I actually found the time to learn a new language as well, german, being confident, relentless, not giving up on things, even changing your posture, walking with your head up and most important having a goal you really care about, this is the recipe to move forward. Thank you a lot.

    Michael
I have watched many many business advice videos on the internet, i started all the way back in 2003
i must have seen thousands by now,
*_Your Abilities_* and skills are much too good not to be displayed more
As soon as you enter your office, and even more when you talk business,
an immediate very noticeable transformation of your personality takes place,
you become sharp like an eagle, very maturely confident and your increased display of present intelligence is so sudden and significant that it almost is hard to believe what just happened before one's eyes.
I am pitching this transformation to you in such detail, not because i want to over shower you with flattery,
but because i am sure, that you have not understood how valuable the contribution of this side of you is to the impression of you as a whole!
when people see the leisure - "happy go lucky in the woods" - pictation of you all the time, they will never ever be able to appreciate you nearly as much as they would, if you showed more of your business side.
Because then they can not see that the way you are when you are having fun and relaxing in most of your videos - you are that way - because you are the way you are when you do business!
these two sides are two extremes that complement each other and make you more productive and capabe as a whole!
i have seen this in other people that are very successful, they utilize almost everything they are and almost everything they do, they put it together to reach the best whole that they can. doing that is Joyful, even the sides of themselves that they dont utilize are left untouched because it makes the whole better. (too much self-control makes me perform worse, so i will not control myself too much)
when you do not display both these sides in an amount big enough to make the majority of the viewers understand that this is how you work, many misunderstand you and thnk of you a much lesser, less mature and more lowly person then you really are!

Michael is so right. Follow your passion. If you're mega happy doing what you love and it doesn't feel like work, that's success. If your mindset it to make a lot of money, you're targetting the wrong thing. What are you going to do ? Go be a lawyer ? A doctor ? A Stockbroker etc ? What if you simply don't like those things and you're therefore not very good at them, especially compared to those people who love those things with a passion ? Better you follow what you love and the money is an off-shoot, a by-product. If you're good (because you're passionate) you'll do okay. You might even get rich !

Michael & Adam. Thank you for your work, I have thoroughly enjoyed your videos. My parents are English, so the humor, and positivity is much appreciated. I started out my career living my dream, but got caught when the music stopped in 2008 in a divorce somewhere I did not want to be. After raising my kids, your videos have re inspired me to get after it, and possibly return to my. sunny, home State, California. Cheers, and thank you.

The comment about making sure you keep your companies cash flow in check really really hits home for me. Our business has had an amazing 4 years and we have saw a ton of growth and last year in particular was the best year the company had across the board we made profit about 4 million. You would think that means that the company would be fairly flush with cash considering after all of your overhead is paid you made 4 million dollars. However, my employer uses the company as his cash register, that profit pays his house payment, his car payments, his wife's car payments, and the car payments of his 5 children as well as the rent for 3 of them and the college tuition of the other 2. The business pays for his 4 family vacations a year and you take 7-10 people staying somewhere exotic in the nicest hotels, eating at the best restaurants and whatever they do while they are there 4 times a year gets really really expensive. It pays his for his home renovations which i know just adding the pool and deck in the backyard was over $200,000. The company is so cash poor that the moment a lockdown was even mentioned as a possibility they laid off 15 people because they could not endure a slow month and still make payroll and we are an essential business and have been running at full steam and then some setting up home offices as well as our normal stuff since this has happened, if anything business is booming. Just the thought that they may have to take 3 vacations instead of 4 or take less people on their vacation was enough to lay off 15 people and its honestly making me rethink my employment with them.

Write down your goals, make a step by step plan on how you will achieve those goals. Be confident and honestly believe you want to become wealthy. There will be wins and losses but all that matters is that you dont stop. Your goals at 18 will change as you get older. Remember, how you do one thing , is how you do everything!

I want to offer something Michael left out. That being when you are planning what kind of business to start, understand that it has to be about the money you'll be making. If you start a business that's based on a "feeling" you will fail. This is why many businesses fail because the person woke up one day and it "felt" good starting a business that does, whatever. But what happens when you get up one morning and you no longer "feel" like doing that business? Then you don't go to work because it doesn't "feel" like it used to--failure. However, if your business is routed in making money than you will go to work when you don't feel like it. Yes, you must choose a business that you would like being involved and interests you, along with a number of other factors. But don't start a business because it "feels" nice.
