Thank you Roger, from an American who has followed Emma from the beginning. I've always wanted to understand her interviews, etc, so thank you very much.
Thanks for the kind words. I do this for fun and because I myself want to understand what Emma is talking about, so I am happy to share. Positive feedback makes it worth doing. Watch this space (or subscribe😃) I have some more videos in various stages of preparation. Some interviews and some songs that I will translate with subtitles. 👍
Fabulous Roger. Again you put a lot of work in this compilation about our Emma winning Ministars. Top!!! Time goes so fast. Emma goes on, winning and winning and she deserves it all.
@@Herka5420 have you seen the official Bahrain video from André. Emma gets her full 12 minutes from 17:xx in that vid. It’s the highest quality and with the best close ups I have so far seen. It beats even the Vrijthof footage for clarity.
Roger, thank you so much for the work you're putting in to helping the huge number of Emma fans who don't speak Dutch to understand the way she rose to fame, these videos are absolutely wonderful to see, and made so much better for having the translations on them. What stands out so clearly for me is the intensity, and the emotion she put into this song, the version with Andre has emotion, but doesn't have the same intensity as this one does, and it's so good to see that Emma has that extra dimension to her singing, it was also apparent in the Disney preview she did a few weeks ago, she was absolutely in control not just of the singing, but of the movements, it was spectacular, and so powerful, I wish we could get to Amsterdam for that event, but there are limits to how often we can make these trips, we're in Maastricht in December, and Amsterdam next October, and somewhere, a proper holiday would be good. As for Emma, it's clear that not only has she thrilled over a million with Andre over the last 12 months, she's also spent a lot of time watching, listening and learning from the cream of the cream, Andre's a perfectionist, and Emma is very much cast in the same mould, and the JSO are also the pick of the crop, and as a result, Emma's abilities have grown both in terms of her vocal abilities, and in terms of her performing skills, and we're the ones who are benefitting from her drive and determination, and clearly Andre is more than happy to facilitate her rise, and yes, now, she truly is Dancing on the Stars, and also producing stunning performances at other events that Andre is not involved with, her songs for the Commemoration events earlier in the year were also stunning quality. Emma's foundation, started by her with the money she won at this event can be found at gastrostars.nl I will make my normal appeal to everyone reading, if at all possible, please join me in making a (regular) donation to Emma's foundation, to help them continue the work of trying to find a cure for her disease, it would be wonderful if they can find a way to free her from the dependence on tube feeding for 22 hours a day, and the other issues that limit her ability to live a normal life, for her to be truly free to live normally, and perform more freely, that would be a wonderful result of her determination to achieve even more than she already has.
Thanks for the kind and supportive words Steve. You know the effort I put into these and my genuine motivation for doing so. Your other points are spot on and especially on Gastrostars. Emma is doing a great job on the foundation's first two objectives: of raising awareness, and supporting other sufferers. The third objective of finding a cure is long term and needs cash, and lots of it. Emma is receiving donations from big benefactors such as when she sang at an equestrian event and also when she sang the national anthem at the moto GP in Assen. The organisers made a sizable donation. However, in my opinion, the game-changer is likely to come from larger numbers ordinary people, and fans, making modest donations. Just imagine, if everyone who had watched and enjoyed Voila had donated €1, or even €0.1 what a difference that would make to the foundation and to the prospects of one day finding a cure. ❤
@@pioter3124 I am same as you in that I saw it for the first time earlier this week. It confirms they adjusted the rules on the prize money to let Emma have it early; which was just an assertion among commenters before this. I have the preceding round too but I couldn’t get that through copyright. No idea why. I am hoping I don’t gat a nasty surprise with this although the filters say it’s ok.
Thanks again Roger, I always wanted to see some of the behind the scenes of this contest. She was the obvious choice for many reasons! Love it, love her....keep up the good work helping us get to know this fabulous young lady better❤❤
I had never seen this performance in its entirety, and we also get some context with footage before and after the actual performance. Much appreciated. I have not seen any of the other performances in this show, but if 'Ministars' is anything like similar competition shows, I assume that most of the performances were of songs within the pop genre. That is why I wonder if Emma was not taking a big risk by performing 'Voila' in the finals. I seems to me that 'Voila' has a dark, brooding edge that could have backfired on a program of this nature. Having said that, Emma did a good job of setting-up the performance with her description of her condition, and by performing the song as a duet with Barbara Pravi. By associating herself with the song's message of self-awareness and acceptance, and having Barabra Pravi's literal endorsement behind her, and then performing flawlessly, she pulled it off and won big! She played her cards well. 'Who Dares, Wins' is the way they put it in the SAS, I believe. Thanks again, Roger. Loved this. All the best.
@@exeter1588 I have the preceding rounds too but for reasons I can’t fathom, I couldn’t get them through copyright blocks whereas these seem okay. The judges were clearly rooting for Emma plus I had to smile when, as Emma left the stage after judges comments in an earlier round, her single Laat Mij Een Vlinder Zijn was playing in the background 😀. Emma had something like double the votes of any other contestant.
Yes, Emma maybe took a risk back then with this (wonderful) song, but she has done what she always says: "I want to sing songs about me and my story". And that is exactly what she did. And now we can say that it has more then payed off.
@@JaapFilius Exactly right. It's so very powerful when she says "it's my mission is to tell my story" and "this song is about a scared insecure girl who just wants to be heard". With all due respect to the other children in the Mini Stars competition, there is no way any of them will have had such a powerful and moving message that was so fundamentally important to them. They would have just been singing a song they liked and could sing whereas Emma must have hunted for a song like Voila. For adult judges and a mostly adult voters in the audience this would have been compelling. It still grabs and twists my insides when I think about it and hear her sing.
@@RogerC-2024 I noticed that one of the judges, I believe her name is Sanne, was also a judge on Voice Kids. She obviously knows Emma well. Emma's story is compelling, and her talent is undeniable. Just as with Voice Kids, I feel sorry for her competition. Under the circumstances, they simply stood no chance. It's almost as if, and this is true even now, that the stars are aligned for Emma. She has a destiny.
