This looks solid. Thanks for the playthrough. Definitely now on top of my list for next Feld purchase. A huge plus for me is it plays well at 5. I need more games that play well at this player count.
Really enjoying this series. Pretty sure Dragon came out after Notre Dame in 2007 - the Alea numbering 11 vs 12 kind of confirms that as well. Possibly my two favourite Felds as well!

Hope you’ll enjoy it! The couple ones I can think about is Antiquity and Small City. Both have pollution as a big part of the game, and the board will change and be way harder to do anything on, the more pollution there is.
I used to think that Trajan and Burgundy were my fav felds, but now I love Bora Bora, Luna and "Dragon" the most ;). And Bonfire could get into my top 5 with more plays. Bruges is also climbing with every play ;).
I love the way this is less forgiving than most euros and less of a straight out race. That said it's a "B" for me, a game I like to play occasionally, once a year or so rather than a staple. Probably twice a year so we can get the disastrous remembering game out of the way first!
@@BoardGamingRamblings ha ha hurt? It beat the living snot out of me!! And the other players!! No one comes off happy here, you lose most of what you built in disasters! 🤣 You won the game but everything you ever knew is dead or wilted or destroyed! It's so depressing!!
In the opening scene of Akira Kurasawa's film, Rashoman, we see a man sitting in the rain with the ruins of a building in the background. All is lost. That is how I feel when playing In the Year of the Dragon. At least once. Usually more. Still, I love the game.
This is one of the first Euro-type games I played (about 2 years ago) , and it really impressed me. Was fun watching the 2 person play through.

I like this one and Macao. I also want to try the re-implementation of Bruges when it comes out. The rest of his games don't really do it for me.

I think there was a setup error: I think you're supposed to not allow 2 of the same events happen in sequence (you had two fireworks back-to-back).
