      HUGE QUESTION! I'm doing the same and I have a row of 29 stiches, when I get to the 4 slip stitches (2 beginning 2 at the end) do I add more slp stitches or continue with 4

    Loved making this! Easy to follow for somebody who doesn’t crochet. I think I would’ve added one more row in the curve so it would bend a bit more if I did it again but I’m not sure how that would turn out since I’m new to crochet!

    Love this Candy Cane! How do I make it larger & a bit wider? I would like it about 3' high. (using it for a prop for infant photos)

    This was such an easy make and I appreciate the pattern! The only problem was the number of holes I had for the double crochet stitches rows where I could see stuffing (had to keep fixing with strands). How do you avoid big holes please? Thank you!

    I made it! First crotchet project and your guidance helped me pull it off! Mine ended up a bit bigger as I can’t count but it looks like it should! Thank you!

    7:52 “yarn over with white, or in your case, it’ll be red.”
    Me with a red circle, just now integrating the white: what 😀

    Super cute! How would you wash this? I really want to make one but I have 2 dogs and they are always jumping on the couch lol

    • @JustBeCrafty
      @JustBeCrafty  5 місяців тому

      Good question! Hmm, I haven't tried washing it. From past experience, chenille/velvety yarns don't do the best in the wash. I'd also be afraid that the red might bleed into the white. So, I wouldn't recommend washing it. I also have two dogs that I let on the couch, so I'll usually remove the pillows when we are settled in on the couch for the night. I really only keep the pillows on the couch for show when I'm up and about during the day and when guests come over for parties/gatherings. Or I'll move them up and out of the way, when I'm not home so the doggies don't get to them.
      And they are really only out for a few weeks of December a year and then they go back into storage with the rest of my holiday decorations.

    Do you have instructions on the blue and pink? I would also like to use acrylic/cotton yarn instead of velvet.

      It works the exact same way I made one using acrylic/cotton and it looks great

    I made this used cotton as filling. I stuffed it quite alot but it doesnt hold its shape and it doesnt stand up well any tips what i should do?

    • @JustBeCrafty
      @JustBeCrafty  Місяць тому

      Hmm... Thanks for your question! I'm wondering if the cotton filling isn't as rigid as the poly-fil. I haven't tried using cotton filling before, so its hard to pinpoint the issue. I'm hoping someone might be able to weigh in if they've had this issue too!
      Also, maybe going down a hook size for the candy cane could add some rigidity if the cotton filling isn't.

    Hi! I’m so excited about making my own! Do you use the whole 50m / 250 g of each color for each pillow? I’m trying to figure out how much to buy. Thank you!

    • @JustBeCrafty
      @JustBeCrafty  11 місяців тому

      You'll use up most of it! One ball each color should be all you need. Actually, in the video I show a ball of each color and that's what I had left over! You can find my supplies list here in the blog post: justbcrafty.com/2023/12/crochet-candy-cane-pillow-pattern.html Happy crocheting!

    in the double crochet rounds when using plush yarn it’s not making the shape very well. and there’s large gaps with the double crochets. any suggestions? maybe switching to a smaller hook or maybe using hdc? will that work?

  • @itsamyrah

    making this with a weight 4-6 yarn and a different hook size would that work? if so, what hook size would you recommend like to making little mini candy canes? would the pattern stay the same or would i have to adjust the stitches?

      You may be skipping the first stitch at the beginning of the loop!

    • @JustBeCrafty
      @JustBeCrafty  20 днів тому

      It sounds like you may be missing some stitches as you're crocheting your rounds, and in turn narrowing your candy candy cane as you go. Try counting your stitches at the end of every round or two to make sure that you're maintaining your stitch count for the main body of the candy cane, and not losing any stitches.
      And because of the fuzzy nature of the yarn, to help with counting, use your hands to feel each stitch as you count them because the stitches can be hard to see. I hope this helps!
