- ❄️ ☃️ Welcome to my Winter 2022 Newsletter!
Hello friends and welcome if you are a new follower! I have been overwhelmed at the reception to my Fall 2021 performances, and am so grateful for the support, more than ever.
This winter we have some exciting debuts ahead and I’d be happy to see you at any performance you can make it to! First off, La Scala! Five performances of a new role, Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, which is also my first role by Bellini! Following those performances I’m delighted to return to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for several concerts of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.
Then I’ll sing piano recitals in Valencia and Vienna, followed by a reprise of Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Wiener Staatsoper. To finish off the month of March and start April, I’m singing a solo concert with Orchestra in Madrid and one in Moscow, a new city for me.
Though we remain in a period of uncertainty, I’m hopeful that we can move forward together and look forward to a fruitful spring!
→ REFLECTIONS
While this winter continues to surprise us with unpleasant and often painful circumstances, it comforts me to know that I’m not alone in feeling the consequences. The stress and anxiety that comes with singing and performing regularly has multiplied during this pandemic, sometimes to intolerable levels for many artists including myself.
Reflecting on the emotional toll alone, sometimes I feel like my work is trivial and not really essential for the function of the world as we know it. I get a sense of “what’s the point?” But then inevitably, before long I’m reminded (often by someone like YOU) that it not only means something and is essential, music is vital to a happy and healthy life! It makes me feel blessed to know that I can play a small part in the comfort of a fellow human being.
If that person smiles because of something I put out into the world, then my work has fulfilled its purpose! I’ll continue to remember this as we move forward in these next unpredictable weeks.

Lisette,
I admire your vulnerability on this topic. The impact the pandemic has had on the arts (and everyone!) is striking. That being said, I continue to have faith because the arts moves people in indescribable ways. Thank you for a beautiful video and a glimpse into your activities. It’s a joy to watch considering many of us were unable to attend.
Blessings,
Jessica
Yes, your job and talent are ABSOLUTELY essential to the world, be totally convinced of it !!!!
You’ve mentioned lately about the “non-essential” issue… Hardly anything is actually essential - just immediate needs seems to be how it’s defined. So aren’t included are things like philosophy, art, and ironically, even the previous decades of research science & mathematics that are being used to combat this pandemic! We all have a small part in things. Yours is simply more visible and joyous🙏
As an old indie rocker who accidentally bumped into your voice on UA-cam a couple of years ago & knows next to nothing about opera & all, I’ve seen you blow up with awards & your first role at Teatro alla Scalla & such… Then this pandemic & online classes & your fun sessions from your home. Who would’ve figured?
Really enjoyed the clips at the end of your newsletter, too.
You & Steve stay safe!❤️
Chicago here I come…I will be buying the tickets
You're so inspiring, Lisette! You work hard and manage to remain positive through this ongoing crisis. You do it all with grace.
All the best in the coming months.
You will be a wonderful Giulietta!!!
thanks for including all the fun clips from rehearsals and performances
Toi toi toi for all of your performances dear Lisette! Especially your debut role in I Capuleti e Montecchi - will try and make it there . In bocca al lupo to you and the other 2 musketeers! Thank you for allowing the Music you bring us carry that most needed of all things in life. Soulfulness.
Love your bonus videos❤️
Thank you, Lisette for the newsletter. I Capuleti ei i Montecchi is one of my favorite operas, good luck in your role debut and you will be an absolutely beautiful Giulietta.
GREAT VIDEO, very organized, and lots of exciting event especially "Serail - Marten aller Arten"
Madrid (and all Spain, I Guess) IS expecting You as the Goddess that Will End our cold winter.
You'll start our Spring.
Obv. I'll be there at Real.
Many Thanks for ur extremely LOVE for Music & for Spain.
Despite You're ( IMHO ) the best soprano at our times, your Spirit shows how kind & closer are You.

I already have my tickets to see you in Valencia dear Oropesa. Fingers crossed that everything goes well.
I love your singing and acting.

Espero que los londinenenses hayan tenido el buen tino de grabar alguna Traviata para el disfrute el resto de los mortales.
Is there any chance that you will be releasing recordings of the Spanish and German rep you'll be performing or have already performed? What you've shared so far sounds amazing! Also, the Traviata clips are stunning- they managed to make me cry even though they were only little bits! You are a fabulous singing-actress!
Sorry, having to correct you, Lisette: the performances of "Die Entfuehrung aus dem Serail" in Vienna took already place in October 2020. It will therefore be 1 1/2 years until the next series in March. The Vienna State Opera is also not listed on your Opera houses website in 2020 (but twice the Metropolitan Opera!). Despite this "stepmotherly" treatment, we will of course welcome you very warmly in Vienna at your concert, at the "Entfuehrung" and at "Lucia" in April! I am really looking forward to your performances, all the best!
I'm really excited to hear that some Spanish pieces have snuck into the Vienna recital - they aren't listed on your website 😉
The program isn’t quite finalized yet and subject to change. We do plan to do some Spanish music though. :)
@@LisetteOropesaSoprano Awesome, looking forward to it! 😁
Could you upload your Escucha al Ruiseñor please? This piece is just amazing! ❤️😍
Will you come to the Seattle opera someday? We would love for you to grace our city with your presence!
Hi Lisette & Stephen.
Obv. I'll be there Next 30th March.
Bringing my promise. Red & yellow roses this time.
Hoping to have a minute w/ U. Kind Rgds
Por favor, también en español. Muchas gracias
we want you at home also, please
Trivial? Perish the thought. Thank you.
Did I get it right? Romeo is played by a ...woman????!!! 🤔
All in all since you are a great interpreter of La Lyrica i wish you best of success and blessings!! People who get to experience an Opéra with you performing in it are sooo lucky!!!
It's a trouser role.
