Once again, I’m delighted to be sharing with you the exciting projects that are on the horizon for the start of this season. This past summer I was lucky to debut Elvira in I PURITANI and that was a big success in Napoli.
Now I’m gearing up for another exciting role debut, but this time, it’s not bel canto! Instead I’m preparing to perform my 5th Handel title: ALCINA at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. We open November the 8th in London. After that, I head to New York City to return to the Metropolitan Opera in their new production of RIGOLETTO. Gilda is one of my absolute favorite roles, and it’s always a pleasure to reprise it, and an honor to be back at the Met. We open December 8th.
On the recording front, there’s a lot to be excited about as well! Last year, I sang the title role of Handel’s THEODORA in concert with Il Pomo D’oro, and after a series of live concerts, we made a beautiful recording that is now available on Warner Classics-Erato, and online everywhere! I’m so grateful also for the incredibly positive response to my French Bel Canto album, which just came out as well, on Pentatone.
Thank you to everyone who purchased a copy and is enjoying it! It was a project that I had been dreaming about for years and I’m so glad that we could make that dream a reality.
→ REFLECTIONS
Fall always brings me back to reality, it seems. This year the summer felt like it started really early and lasted longer than usual to me, with such warm weather going as far back as May! I am always happy to have the return of the crisp temperatures and bright colors.
I’m also really excited to return to the Met this December. My last performance there was just before the pandemic forced every theatre to shut down, back in March of 2020. I haven't sung in the States since then. I’m so grateful for having gotten through these past 2 and a half years safely and in good health.
This period has made me realize how much I took small things for granted. Now that we are treading back towards normal circumstances, I have a newfound appreciation for things like gatherings with friends, going out to restaurants, and of course, theatres...a gratitude that I never felt so strongly before.
This work means the world to me, and I am blessed to be able to continue to make music and perform every day.

Those people walking behind Oropesa are unaware of how great she is. I would just stand there and watch her record the video. 😁 Call me weirdo but I love her ❣️
I would come up and say "You are great", why not.
I think she's very fortunate to be a top professional in her job and acclaimed by opera audiences, but not a mainstream celebrity. She can afford to stroll around without everybody stopping her for pics/autographs every two steps. I must confess though, if I came accross her on the street and recognised her (not very likely, I suck at face recognition for celebrities on the street), I may just stop her for a second to thank her for her wonderful work, or perhaps not if she looks concentrated on her jogging.
This is spectacular. Thank you for all of the updates and those beautiful clips of all of your recent performances. Please keep spreading joy and sharing your wonderful gifts.

If Vienna is the Jerusalem of music, Salzburg is its Bethlehem. On a side note, I associate Salzburg and its surroundings to Mozart, not The Sound of Music. When I'm in a spooky mood, I also think of all the gothic horror stories with vampires one could invent round there. Even in broad daylight.
