Hey JC and thanks for checking it out - I'm also from Sudbury, ON! Playing the AI in the solo modes is a really good way to get where you need to in order to fly in a squadron and go up against folks in MP (especially career mode which has you brief, takeoff, navigate, formation fly, dogfight, egress, RTB, land, etc). Yeah. I find the allies tend to be better coordinated. i used to fly axis ALOT and it was typically"go that way" gotta beef up my rig before i can fly again sadly
Is that right? I'd imagine that it depends on which Squadron/group you're involved in - The folks I'm flying with here are in an organized Squadron and so we make a game plan before we take off, etc - so that we're more coordinated in the air. I'd imagine that if you join an MP server without a Squadron that even on the Allied side it might still be a little bit unorganized there as well - not too sure!
Thanks T R! Yes I've been trying to really mix up what I'm learning to fly lately - I've learned the P-47 in DCS World and since IL-2 is not as simulated I'd assume I wouldn't have too much trouble with it - My issue is that I've been spoiled with the flight model and lower stall speed of the Spit so much that I'm having a hard time getting any kind of success with the 'energy fighters' haha - I'll hopefully get there eventually!
Hey there - Thanks for watching! It does not look as clear in the VR headset, but the VR adds a level of immersion that you can't replicate on a flat screen.. In my opinion the quality is still outstanding but the technology still has a ways to go before we can get the level of resolution/clarity that you can see on a 4K monitor
@@NeatoSims thanks for replying. Interesting to know. I was given an old Oculus Rift CV1 recently and tried it on IL2. The immersion is absolutely amazing. But the resolution is pretty poor and makes spotting and identifying pretty impossible without adding tags. Wondering if upgrading vr is worth it at this stage or to get a bigger monitor. I'm on just a laptop with no track ir so not the best set up currently. Also I can only do about 45mins before feeling a bit rough from the VR. Do you know if that improves with better resolution and more modern headsetd, or has no effect? Sorry you might not be the best person to ask that but while I'm here... 😂
@@Lakedistrictrider no worries! If you're using an older headset then chances are if you got yourself an upgraded VR headset that the resolution would be upped as well; the issue is for most VR situations is that it requires a pretty powerful PC to be able to reach the full potential of a higher quality VR headset... In regards to the roughness after 45 minutes of VR use; this is actually very normal and I can say from experience that it took 20-30 hours of total VR time to finally not get sick/rough anymore; but you do build a tolerance over time! Most folks I know that get into VR experience the exact same thing but it gets better after you put some time in for sure - eventually you should experience absolutely no sickness from even very long VR sessions👍

Hey man, thanks! Not sure which software you're referring to but sim itself is IL-2 Sturmovik, recording software was the Nvidia Shadowplay (but I've since switched to OBS and am very happy!) and the radio software is SRS which is only integrated currently with DCS and IL-2 (as far as I know..).
Hey Josh - Oh ya I've definitely adjusted the audio settings in SRS. There is a main "Speaker boost" setting on the main SRS panel (I've got mine up to +20db) and there are also individual volume sliders for every channel when you toggle the radio overlay. I've also got my game volume in the IL-2 audio settings down to about 60% You can also get extra fancy and pan specific channels to the Left or Right speaker which can actually be quite helpful (I've got my squadron net set to full volume and panned just left of center and then I've set the command net to about 25% volume and panned all the way to the right). If you need any additional help with any of that let me know :)
@@NeatoSims Thanks! I'll try the speaker boost panel (in decibels) - I had assumed that was only for my outgoing voice, but sounds like it helps incoming too

Excellent visuals as usual. However, as with all simulators you do not have the actual sound, feel, smells or the G's. It is an incredibly dynamic environment. There is NO auto pilot and no endless supply of ammunition and fuel. Most people in a real situation would either black out or get terribly airsick. Pilots too. anyway...great for games but NEVER creates the actual dogfight experience.
Hey there! While IL-2: Sturmovik does model the flight characteristics (there is no auto-pilot mode in the Combat Box server), a finite supply of fuel and ammo and also simulates G-force (if you pull too much and/or for too long you 100% black out), I completely understand what you're saying. In the comfort of my own home I can't truly experiencing the effects of G-force and general speed which would no doubt have a tremendous impact on my ability to dogfight.
