- This is our entire base camp #adventure condensed into one feature length documentary. We walk all the way from Okaldhunga to Everest Base Camp over 25 days.
The trip took us through over 230 KM of the Nepali country side as we walked through the low valleys to the tallest mountain on earth. Our journey finishes with a flight from Lukla, Tenzing Hillary airport ( The most dangerous Airport in the world ).
Do you want to trek in Nepal and need a guide? We cannot recommend Ram enough. You can contact him by Email or Whatsapp, he would be happy to answer your questions.

This was Andrew's favourite travel experience so far!!!
What was yours?
Amazing vid 🥰
Thank you 😊 glad you enjoyed
I did this in May and got to spend 2 nights at Base Camp as part of the annual Mt. Everest Marathon.. most incredible thing I've ever been a part of
Wow that sounds incredible. We didn't get the sleep at base camp itself 😍
We also went in May, maybe we've seen us on the track! :)
So nice watching your journey. Both of you seem to be very kind person. So as Ram. Thanks for inspiring and sharing your experience! 🤝
Really glad you enjoyed watching.
Ram is such a good guy we are so glad we met him 😊
You guys were so lucky to find Ram, you got a real Nepali experience, which took you on a very different path to the usual commercial EBC. Shout out to Ram, I'll certainly use him when I go.
We were recommended him by a couple in Thailand and we asked him to show us a more local experience. Ram really was amazing 👏
Brilliant journey. This route is rarely used as trekking route. Well done guys, I am from Nepal currently living in Kent England. Miss my country…
We cannot wait to go back to Nepal. We want to help out with some farming in Okaldhunga with Ram's family one day 😊
hi guys, really enjoyed watching your journey throughout all 24 days. Sending love from Nepal
Thank you 😊 really glad you enjoyed the video.
The Sherpa people are so handsome with their gorgeous big smiles!
The people in Nepal are some of the friendliest we have ever met 😁
I loved the home invite experience! You deserved it with your nice personalities!
Thank you. That was our favourite part too 😊
The goat seemed happy with your offerings!
🤣 we love goats
Thanks very much guys. Great job! I’ve watched several of the base camp videos and yours seemed genuine and honest. EBC is on our “to do” list and going with Ram seems a perfect way to do it. Thanks again
Dave from Canada
Thanks, we're really glad you enjoyed the video. Base camp was on our bucket list for so long and felt surreal when we finally did it.
We hope you guys get round to doing it and have an amazing time when you do 😊
Thanks again for watching
Woww
Hey guys - Lovely vlog. Really appreciate your time, efforts and energy in putting this up. Hope this vlog motivates a lot more to take this path in a disciplined way like you guys did. Like Andrew said, EBC has been on my mind as well for quiet some time as well and your honest journey gives me hope too that someday, maybe just someday, i can make it too :) keep it up guys . Lots of love. cheers
We are really glad you enjoyed the video and hope you have an amazing time if and when you do the EBC trek 😁
Nice trekking Vlog..... One day my dream come true... To reach there❤❤❤.... Lovely video ❤
Thank you. We hope you make it one day amd have an amazing time 😊
Awesome video guys, really enjoyed following your adventure up to EBC. Congrats on the huge achievement - I did the 8-day route from Lukla back in May and that was hard enough!
Glad you enjoyed it 😊 it's a special place isn't it?
Ama Dablam is not only Sexy Mountain, it is the most beautiful mountain in the world. What a trek envy. I'm loving your way of telling it.
Thank you 😊 it really is a very beautiful mountain. The whole Everest region is probably the most beautiful place we have ever seen in our lives 😍
In America, whenever we saw a Volkswagen Beetle back in the '80s we would play a game and called a slug bug no give backs. So you basically just tag a friend and say slug bug and try to be the first one to tag someone. It would be fun to do a yack attack game. Like maybe whoever says yak attack first wins a point.
This is such a fun idea. We do the same thing in the UK with Mini coopers. We call it Mini dig.
Although the Yak thing would be great until you walk past a convoy of them 😅 maybe in the rules a group would have to be classed as 1 🤣🤣
Amazing film guys just finished watching it , what a achievement for you both , Well done 🤙🏔️🤙
Thank you. I know its not the first time you have watched our trip. We are so glad you took the time to watch it again 😀
Hi guys and thanks for sharing your experience with us all ! I have seen many videos on here and yours was by far a more honest experience and can’t wait to do this in May 25 for my 60th birthday already started training in the Scottish highlands hill walking most weekends.
Your journey has inspired me to try more traditional routes and take in the real Nepal experience
Thanks again ❤
Thank you so much. We are really glad you enjoyed the video. We hope you have an amazing time in Nepal. It is a really beautiful country 😊

I have seen many Everest Base Camp Treks and yours is simply the Best!! ❤❤ Ram did you a solid when he let you into his family and acclimated you properly. Love him 🙏
Thank you. We are glad you enjoyed the video.
He is such a genuine and lovely guy. We stayed with his family in Kathmandu also. We still talk to him now nearly 2 years on 😊
@@LostKnox If I ever do the Trek. I must do it with Ram. I think that it's so cool that you have a relationship with him after the climb. Totally knocked out!! 🥰
We think so too. We were so lucky to meet him. We only found him because we met a couple in Thailand who gave us his details 😊
@@LostKnox Wow! You believe him even after you had been scammed?😧
The thought did cross our minds. But we flew to Nepal and met him before we set off on our trek.
The couple in Thailand were from Spain and were staying in a hotel with us. We still talk to them occasionally too 😅
Lots of love from Nepal❤❤
Thank you 😊

@@Jillousa glad you enjoyed it 😊
Wow. Congratulations on the epic journey and wonderful documentary! Curious how you kept battery charged on your camera over the trip ?
Well done !!!
Thank you 😊
We took 2 power banks and when they ran out we payed for electricity in some of the teahouses 😁
Great and informative video ! Thanks a lot @LostKnox What time of year did you do the trek?
We did the trek in May 😊
Good.❤
Thank you 😊
Well come to Nepal
Thank you 🙏
Happy Birthday Ram!😊
🎂 🥳 🎉
Wonderful videos. So generous of you to make and share them. Thank you. May I ask what month you did this trek?
Thank you for watching. We are glad you enjoyed the video 😊
We did the trek at the end of April / beginning of May 😁
@@LostKnox Ah ok thanks. I’m planning to trek to Gokyo from Jiri at the end of March and I’m thinking it probably be colder in March than May which is a bit concerning because look like you guys were freezing at times! Time to get my layers sorted I guess. I have another question … It looks as though your backpacks were quite light did you take sleeping bags? TIA 🙏
@beatinertia Leanne took her Osprey fairview 70l and I took our camera back emptied out. It was really hot lower down and then got cold the higher we went. We didn't take sleeping bags all the tea houses gave us extra blankets if it was cold. But maybe with it being March it might be a good idea to take some 😁
Hope you have an amazing trek 👏
Hi there, congratulations for your way and how you did it. I walked nearly the same tour in 2012, starting at Bhandard to Junbesi to BaseCamp. Altogether with my guide Chandra, taking my time, where I want to be, take my speed, like I want walk.. You will find some small vids here with almidi96. Greetings Didi
Thank you. It's an amazing place isn't it? 😁
Absolutely stunning what a adventure... I'm planning some treks in Nepal never thought about this way to EBC.... can I ask what boots you guys were wearing.... I'm also thinking of contacting your guide....
We rented boots which we would not recommend. Any comfortable boots with decent grip should be fine 🙂
If you do decide to Ram his details are in the description of the video. Hope you have an amazing trip 😁
@@LostKnox thank you kindly for your help I'll be taking my own boots from the UK... I think I'll start on lukla as I also wasn't to do a few more treks... Thank you for your help truly appreciated....
We are sure you will have an amazing time 😊
Hi, great video. Did you two take Diamox or anything else to help with the altitude?
Our plan was to not take it until we really suffered. We didn't end up taking any diamox at all. Leanne did take a couple or paracetamol in Gorakshep though 😊
I want to see the actual food your eating! (your plates)
We didn't film a huge amount of the food on the EBC trek but it was mainly dal bhat, fried potatoes and things like that. We filmed more of the food in our lower mustang series 😁
@LostKnox I will look for that! I like to see the trekkers relaxing, drinking tea and eating after their long challenging walks!
❤ still watching, it would be great if you mentioned which month you started day 1
We started our trek at the end of April and we made it past lukla around the beginning of May 😊
Hi guys I watched your trek to EBC a few months ago and absolutely loved it! I know you’re not a travel agent but you m trying to contact Ram to hire him but to no avail. Does he work for some outfitter? I can’t reach him through email so I’ll try what’sapp. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Dave ‘n Gwen de Canada
Yes I would try WhatsApp. He doesn't work for another company. He is private.
Hope you guys have some success. If not you could try him on Instagram.
Ram.magar.902604
Hope you guys have an amazing trek 😁
You didn’t mention how much weight Andrew lost on the trek! Just curious. ;-)
74.5 kgs. I lost 3 KG over the trek 😁
Been want to hike to EBC and been wondering if there is an alternative route in instead of the dreaded Luckla Airport. I'm terrified of flying into that airport!
There are other routes. You can walk from Jiri or Phaplu. It adds an extra 7 days or so onto the trek but it is a beautiful walk.
We didn't fly into Lukla. We walked from Okaldhunga 😊
We hope you make it and have an amazing trek
Hey, when did you take this trip? I read recommendation september-november, but wheather during your visit was great
We went in April/May that is the other recommended time to visit 😊
How difficult is the hiking? Are the paths clear? Is the footing difficult?
The paths are fairly clear and the walking isn't too difficult. It's mainly the altitude that makes it harder. 😊
Do their teas and diet help with acclimatization and hiking?
In a way. Their is a lot of carbohydrates in their diets that help give energy whilst hiking. But they are genetically adapted to live at those altitudes. We can help ourselves adapt by hiking slowly and spending time at altitude before climbing higher 😊
Where did you guys stay in Kathmandu if you don't mind saying?
We stayed in Hotel Jampa. Its right in the centre of Thamel. It was absolutely ideal. 😁
@LostKnox thank you, appreciate it!
Did you purify the water that you got from the waterfall?
No but we probably definitely should have. We didn't get sick but I would always recommend purifying it. 😊
@@LostKnox I'm glad you didn't get sick.
Great documentary, I'm really enjoying it. Thank you! :-)
What was your finishing weight?
Oh sorry i forgot to put that in 🤣🤣🤣 74 kg We both lots 3kg over the trek
All that walking and you missed the most impressive high mountain trail in Khumbu: the Namche - Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche High Scenic Trail. Why walk through Tengboche twice when there is a much more impressive high trail on the opposite side of the valley?
We didn't miss it 😊 on the way back down we stopped through phorste and Kumjung. But we didn't film it as we thought the video would be too long 😁
It is also a really beautiful area ❤️
@@LostKnox Great, or at least better than nothing. I think the Phortse route is most impressive on the way up with fresh eyes and facing the high mountains. Too bad most people miss it totally.
Welcome to Nepal
Thank you 😊
