before I even watch, I just want to say, you have to check out the live version of this on the Jay Leno show. very few good videos of Maynard performing... this is one of them.
Billy, who founded the band was actually trying to find a female vocalist, which allowed Maynard to express his feminine side
My absolute favorite by a perfect circle❤️ it hits so different
New to your channel. I’ve seen the channel for Key of Geebz and it’s so interesting to watch his facial expressions when hearing a song for the first time…as well as your facial expressions. Lol! But I totally get it! That’s exactly what I’m feeling when I hear these great musicians, too! I guess that means music speaks to our hearts a bit more special than others. Anyways…just wanted to comment because I absolutely love Perfect Circle. I’m also a Tool fan. Maynard does actually have a 3rd band called Puscifer. Here’s the interesting thing that really points out how much talent Maynard and his band members have. Each band is different and a different style. I’d say Tool and APC are my favorites. I’m not a fan of Puscifer. Same artist…but not a fan. Because his styles are so completely different in each band. So much musical talent and genius packed into that guy! Tool is definitely more of a hard driven rock. A Perfect Circle is more subdued rock. Maynard is very poetic in his music and I think that APC really strikes a chord about social issues. Not necessarily that it’s some trauma from his past that he hasn’t dealt with…but rather it’s his way of putting it out there to draw attention to issues we should pay attention to. One of my favorite songs is APC cover of ‘Imagine’. That song and video came out while Bush was in office and we went to war in the mid-east against terrorism. It was APC’s way of putting it out there to draw attention to it. Watch the video if you haven’t yet. It totally stirred the political pot when they released it back in the early 2000s. That was exactly their intention. So poetically genius!!! Another great song and video by APC is Judith. I watched a Christian music pastor do a review of that song and video…and oh man!! It was a punch to the gut. Maynard is very obviously angry at religion. The background on that song, “Judith” is that his mother was a very devout Christian. She ended up sick with cancer and died from it. The lyrics of that song are a very angry Maynard upset that her god did this to her even though she was a good person. I grew up in Christianity…so I completely understand why Maynard is upset. He’s coming down on religion that just has a pat answer for everything and religious leaders sometimes tell us not to question why bad things happen. Maynard is absolutely right to be upset…in my opinion. Because we shouldn’t just believe in a faith because someone tells us to. We should question. Bad things will happen. Maynard is expressing his frustration with what religion told him to believe about God’s plan for his mom to be sick. For that reason…I really believe Maynard is such a musical genius that he’s able to so poetically share his thoughts and try to draw attention to social injustices that we need to give 2nd thought to.
Rambling now…but yes…glad you found Perfect Circle. One of my favorite bands! Check out the songs “The Noose”, “Gravity”, and “Blue” on the album, 13th Step. So melodic. Love them.

You could say that the ship has sailed long ago and now there is no going back. Whenever you look back on your own life, many times you see yourself as just a child. Then you grow up, invest in people you want to have a relationship with, and its as if you don't even exist. So you cling to comfort, crawl back into yourself to shield yourself from the world. And at that point, you feel as if you are a child all over again because you believed in the fairy tale.
Totally left me wanting more. Wanted a sharing guitar solo or breakdown and another chorus. Then also wondered if Billy or Maynard wanted to leave us unsatisfied wanting more. Definitely a choice by them.
Watch their show at Red Rocks. It's the best of the best playing at their best. That's a lot of bests but trust me

To me, this is APC's best track. Ever. Felt like that even back in HS in 2000.
Check out his other band Puscifer where Maynard often sings in duet fashion with a wonderful female singer named Carina. Satire alert. Maynard is quite hillarious and sarcastic over there.. Try 'The Remedy" or Apocalyptical.
Weak and Powerless, The Outsider, Hollow, Orestes
APC is definitely different from Tool but if you are a fan of Maynard, it's a nice change. Not to take away from the other members of A Perfect Circle, they all make this band great. Lots of great songs in their catalog. Their album 13th step is one of the most amazing concept albums in my lifetime, in my opinion. It ends with one of the most amazing songs "Gravity" especially when you understand and listen to the whole album.
Now go check out Maynard’s third band Pusicfer. Start with Queen B, this lady has got the thickness!! Definitely different than Tool or APC😉
