Finn likes metal made for guys who wear ankle monitors
...and owe a shitload of back child support.
...who troll Hot Topics looking for their next restraining order.
Does that make you angry?
.... and go to the creek to fish for turtles
💯
Gojira stan here.
Remember to consime your daily dose of pick scrapes and polyrhythms kids! Keeps you healthy!
The Terra Incognita album will help you quickly realize the level they are at. They made it when they were 20.
From Mars to Sirius is a masterpiece.
@@MetalGildartsthis is one of my favorite albums of all time.
@@baldwyn972 same
5FDP at S while Gojira is C is crazy
Absolutely!! These guys are metal Gods. The Link Alive is one of the greatest live performance ever. Mario was just 22.
Gojira was the first band that I got obsessed with and listened to everything they ever made. So rhythmic and groovy some of there songs just put me in a trance.
Lamb of God is the band that got me into screaming vocals. Before I heard them, whenever I heard kids at my school play Deathcore/death metal I thought it was just mindless screaming and couldn’t understand why people liked it. LoG is the best that eased in me into more harsh vocals.
Same. I saw them at ozzfest in 2008 and it blew me away
For me, it was Trivium - “Shogun”, specifically.
@@Sebass2021 that’s a gem of an album
They did that for me as well. I think a lot of people, myself included, didn’t like the vocals because “you can’t even understand what they’re saying”. But with Randy, he’s so clear and easy to understand I couldn’t make that my excuse anymore lol. But it “trained” my ear to get into heavier stuff for sure when I was a kid
Just remember to view screaming vocals as another instrument like a guitar and don’t focus on what he’s trying to say, makes listening to death metal a lot easier if you just focus on the brutality of gutturals and screams
Always respect. BUT FFDP better than Gojira is Terrorism in my country
I'm not even a boy Gojira fan but putting FFDP above literally any of these other bands is lunacy. This is one of those times Finn couldn't control his inner edgelord
are you french?
@@juanlucas6186 I'm spanish, u can't go for that way with me xD
Any country.
I’m american and Gojira is my favorite band (yes, more than Opeth)
Getting invited to finns barbeque is a way bigger honour than having your music ranked high by him.
Of course, because making music is more about making friends than making music; everyone knows this
Finn giving off heavy, ‘I’ve never seen Gojira live’ vibes.
Hearing their recorded material is one thing, seeing it live will completely blow you away!
I concur!!
Was just going to comment this.
This goes for Slaughter to Prevail too. That band is fucking gnarly in concert lol
This is true. Personality i find their music extremely boring, but the live show was excellent.
This thread giving off heavy, 'sure you say you don't like beer, but have you tried MY favourite beer brand' vibes
Just saw cattle decap live a couple of weeks ago and they absolutely knocked my socks off. I was never a huge fan of them but the pure chaos of their songs and vocals made way more sense in concert form it was insane
Seeing the thumbnail for this video, my first thought was Finn would have Cattle S Tier, surprised me on that one
Gojira is single handedly the most important metal band of the 2010's.
They have inspired a generation of bands.
... and the 2000's
Terra Incognita 2001
The Link 2003
From Mars to Sirius 2005
The Way of All Flesh 2008
Their best 5 albums imo
I don't have enough holes punched in my wall to be a Lamb of God fan.
Nice one
Or a 5fdp fan...
I’d put Cattle D’s 00s stuff in C tier but everything from Monolith through now are my all time favorite death metal albums, especially Anthropocene Extinction. Super unique riff style, excellent song writing and the best vocalist in all of death metal. You’re killin me Finn
Same but Harvest floor onward
Death atlas is S tier greatest 20 albums of all time🤟🤟
Karma Bloody Karma definitely isn’t C-tier. I enjoy it more than most of their new stuff. Except for monolith
Very true
Monolith is a straight masterpiece.
I was taking hits like a champ with Finn saying that Power Metal is terrible and Dragonforce is the best band in the genre and then with him putting Gojira in C, but then when he arrived at 5FDP and put them in S I remembered "Oh, yes, this is a Finn tierlist, why am I taking this so seriously?" 🤣🤣 Great video man! Keep em coming!
Just had a thought Finn.
If the 10-year-rule is real, and I do believe it is, in 10 years Reddit will say you were a REAL content creator, and all the reaction channels with kids playing 15-string baritone guitars are just a bunch of posers.
Thanks for doing Lamb of God fairly, they are my all time favorite band (The whole Burn The Priest album is fuckin' awesome!) I wish you would do a deep dive on them someday if you ever get around to it
I saw FFDP against my will when they played with Metallica, and they actually seemed like pretty cool people overall, so that barely pushed them up to the C teir from F for me. It's the broiest bro metal that has ever bro'd metal, and I still just can't get behind the music itself. I guess to each their own, but S teir is crazy to me.
Its Finn, The Buttrock MBA. He hates dad rock but loves butt rock. A walking contradiction
Finn: metal is so serious and unhealthy so much of the time. i just want some good pg music with uplifting lyrics that's fun and catchy
*power metal exists*
Finn: no, not like that
only half kidding
Finn, i cant tell you how much happiness and enjoyment your content brings me. Always love hearing your take on things, keep on doing you dog.
Bleeding Through was my absolute jam
But honestly really just Portrait of the Goddess. Literal 10/10. I was let down by the followup (though I did like it) and stopped listening to them after that.
Declaration was a crazy good album
number seven with a bullet!
I listened to love is murderous album so much in highschool that the cd got scratched up from playing so often. The band did not get as big as they should have been in my opinion. But they really did fall off in quality as time went on.
I remember playing like A7X style stuff and my drummer was doing punk drums. He got obsessed with LoG and started trying to do super complex stuff (really well) and I couldn’t write to his music anymore. I do enjoy me some LoG! Seen them 3-4 times live. I can’t keep up with who I’ve seen anymore. I go to a lot of shows!
Gotta agree with pretty much everything you said about The Faceless; it's not just the technicality, it's the writing and composition. Some incredibly orchestrated music!
Cattle decap and gojira being put in c killed me
Cattle Decapitation is one band that I feel has gotten better with age.
Not metalhead but Gojira is amazing band.
18 visions’ new singles? absolutely killer. they still hold up
Monolith of Inhumanity. Thats the answer you're looking for regarding Cattle Decap. I dont think I need to say anything else.
The way Finn feels about power metal, I feel about metalcore. But I respect his breadth of knowledge on all the genres 😅
Oh hell yeah! Another poppa Finn tier list! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
5FDP on S and Gojira on C
Big oof😂
I love all The Faceless albums too and they are one of my favorite bands. Totally agree with them being S tier
Because of this surprising tier list, Finn's BBQ will be epic with all these bands showing up to check what's in Finn's drinks.
Finn you forgot about "Francis And The Breakdowns!"😂
Ranking FFDP as S tier while Gojira is on C is the best thing you've ever done HAHA
The Faceless’s Akeldama is their best and one of the best records in the genre in my opinion
I came here to see where you would rank them and you didnt disappoint
The "hype" around Cattle Decap surrounds their recent four albums. The old stuff is not very good. Monolith of Inhumanity and onward is the stuff of divinity 🤘🤘
I appreciate and value your opinion. Would love to see Finn interview Travis Ryan.
Five Flavor Fruit Punch = F
Lamb = S
Gojira = A
"Tower of Snakes" by Eighteen Visions has the best hardcore breakdown of all time. I will die on that hill
Finn Mckenty The Goat of Music Ranking History & Comedy !!!!!!!!!!!!
dont you mean Finnely McKenty?
Sorry my spelling sucks I'm ADHD so sometime it comes out like shit hahahahaha@@ziggylegion1604
Big fan from South Africa please do Zombies Ate My Girlfriend An Amazing South African Death Metal Band Thanks!!!!
I remember first hearing Lamb of God in one of the NFL Street games
Obviously you haven’t seen the mighty GOJIRA live.
I saw them 4 weeks ago and they were incredible.
Best live band touring right now. Their sound is insane.
The fact you put Five Finger Death Punch over Cattle Decapitation is an insult to good music everywhere.
It really is.
I'm starting to think all the shit talking about him is valid.
Early Parkway breakdowns are the best. I still love em even going more mainstream..... they deserve to make octane money at this point ha
Can we have a tier list of people you would invite to a bbq?
Factors to consider:
Drip
Topics of conversation
What foods they would bring
finn bbq tier list would be excellent content!
Finn this is me making a comment about Gojira.
I heard the sound of 100 Redditors slamming their fists on their desks in anger as you dragged the Gojira logo towards the C tier
All that remains
Pierce The Veil
Lamb Of God
A Day To Remember
Cattle Decapitation
I couldn't get into the first three records of Cattle Decapitation. But they started taking off exponentially in a musical level thanks to Dave McGraw from The Harvest Floor up to this present day. Not to mention how Travis Ryan started doing those goblin singing and tunnel throat vocals in that album onwards.
I remember discovering Lamb of God while listening to the digital preview tracks in a Strawberries in 2004. Killadelphia is still one of the greatest live metal albums ever. I always thought LOG picked up the groove metal torch that Pantera left behind. Finally got to see both of those bands play together a couple weeks ago 🤘
He gave Cattle a C because they start with C. It makes sense now
Rumor has it, the only place you can purchase a Five Finger Death Punch album is at O'Reaily Auto parts locations in OH/IN
Bleeding through is way better than 18 visions. Great days at the chain reaction. True OGs
Gojira being below 18v and bleeding through injured me internally and I love all 3 bands.
The Naruto dash totally caught me off guard. You got me ROLFing and LMAOing (among other 00s tropes) hard.
I have two questions from this video: what's the threshold number of notes, that makes a person virgin? Where can I find how many notes I listened to throughout the years?
I feel like I might be pretty close to the line, and I want to know where I land exactly
Can confirm the lads in Parkway Drive a legend. I remember sitting in Brisbane eating a kebab next to Winston people watching and roasting randoms. Totally chill dudes. Makes me proud 🇦🇺 I remember being flamed at my second show ever, Bleeding Through + Parkway Drive in Byron, when I ruined a game of hacky sack cause I’m so gumby
I just learned "a heap" of Aussie slang from this comment. Thanks mate
haha wow upon reading, i can hear my own accent@@dustywaynemusic6297
2000s LoG is S+. Any who disagree should be beaten until they can’t disagree. They didn’t release anything bad, it was banger after banger. They brought the groove that we had missed since Pantera.
I've been turned on to some pretty good bands because of your videos. You're always entertaining and even if I don't agree with your opinion all the time I still respect that it's your opinion in the videos. Love what you do. Keep being you man. To hell with the haters
I feel Abigail Williams had the Lorna Shore sound more than Bleeding Through.
Bleeding through was much earlier
Finn must have been seeing a good therapist or using betterhelp because he has been more open about his impressive metal nerd side and I've gotten some awesome recs from his content. I didn't know the faceless's discography was strong, need to check out
I think Gojira tows the line between older metal and newer metal which is why they have a lot of fans. They're pretty good on a weightlifting playlist too. You played a song off From Mars To Sirius, but L'Enfant Sauvage and The Way Of All Flesh are definitely way better in my opinion if you haven't listened to anything off those
I see facts
Irony: Andy James of 5FDP is a ridiculously good guitarist. His solo stuff is incredible.
Spot on with the bleeding through paving the way for the symphonic death metal, declaration is a monster album, jona from IKTPQ killing it before his move to BMTH
I can't wait for the tier list of tier list!
Man, you know? It's odd to me that so many lists or discussions about this era and the whole Nu-Metal genre, and almost nobody ever mentions Sw1tched. They were such a dope band that never got the attention they deserved, imo.
Anyway, thanks for another top tier tier list, Finny Cent. You're welcome at my barbeque any time.
So a couple years ago, my mom had some old furniture in her basement and she asked if I wanted any of it, cuz my old dresser was down there. Went digging through it, and there was an old Sw1tched T-shirt in there. Had the “At the drop of a dime I’ll fucking kick you in your fucking teeth” lyric on the back. I was like, “yup. Totally something 15-year-old me picked up at a show.” I completely forgot about them, let alone that I’d see them before that. Lmao
Actually added a few songs to a playlist recently too!
Seeing as you hate crust punk and grind, and Cattle Decap is so closely tied to The Locust, it makes sense.
Randy is super into the crust punk bands, too.
Glad you shouted out, Brandon. Bleeding Through, Darkest Hour, and Unearth were some of the granddaddies of metalcore (IMO).
Dragonforce is awesome I’m going to see them later in October and I’m excited very fun power metal band. I’m also going to see Parkway Drive on October 1st, I’m seeing a lot of bands between now and end of the year.
Five Flavor Fruit Punch is for the people who have rusty weight benches outside under their carport
Bleeding Through was awesome, much better then Lorna Shore
Finn i think we need a episode about 2000's DM ( Mostly bands like Decapitated, Aborted and Nile )
I want that life in the FFDP vid but with a much better band!
I still get Parkway Drive and I Killed The Prom Queen mixed up.
Bleeding Through are S Tier Imo. My Top 5 Metalcore bands are Emmure, Bleeding Through, The Ghost Inside, August Burns Red, and For Today.
Dragon force is so one of the most talented bands I’ve ever heard. Insane guitar playing. That being said. I can’t stand them.
Ayy showing Parkway Drive some love. besides, members of most bands in that genre that have been around a long time contain members who have done some...uhhhh...less than savory things outside of the music lol
Don't worry Finn, you're my spiritual leader.
Parkway Drive are the chads I aspire to be like way more than the red state rock festival bands.
I’m a heavy music bystander for the most part, but I find your takes to be really fair.
Completely agree with you on your opinion of cattle decap. Like, i totally respect them for who they are and for being around for so damn long, but just cant get down with their songs.
18 visions being higher than cattle decap is criminal
Cattle decaps appeal for me is centered around the vocalist, Travis Ryan. He does some really unique stuff vocally however I don’t think he was trying some of that stuff until monolith if humanity in 2012 or so
We are very different, Finn. Thats the nicest way i can say, youre wrong. But Parkway Drive is definitely for the boys!
Lamb of God in S tier should have been the easiest decision of all time. They're also an all-time great live band. Parkway as well 🤷🏼♂️
FFDP is metal for people who like the feds, but their first 3 albums are soooo good. The way of the fist is a total classic.
I´ve seen Parkway Drive twice in 2019 and they turned the ego to Chad Kroeger...
Speaking of Sumeriancore does anyone else remember when Sumerian Records signed Bizzy Bone? Lol
5 finger death queef over lamb of god?? I challenege you to a pistol duel at midnight good sir!
Bleeding Through was the heaviest of the OC metalcore crew. So damn good!
Planetary duality is fucking goated. Love Michael Keenes work 🤘🤘🤘
Your first list that didn’t piss me off
Respect, Finnegan🫡
oooof Gojira C tier hurt my feelings :[
Yes! im Finns Friend 🙌🔥🤙
BBQ invite in the mail muh dude!
Got the cole slaw and deviled eggs on ice!🔥
@@Dab_Marino damn I'm jealous!
I know it's trendy to not like FFDP but american capitalist is legit an s teir album imo.
Your opinion makes me twitch sometimes. Mission accomplished!
Thank you for your sacrifice Finn
I saw The Faceless live and got hurt after their set (I forgot who was playing lol) and was taken in the back to get checked out by paramedics and got to meet Derek and Lyle and they were awesome dudes. They asked if I was ok and gave me a free shirt. I wish I still had that shirt 😭
Here for the " can any of these bands replace my 90s nostalgia bands Ill never stop listening too "
Have you done a 90s alternative/grunge tier list yet?
The quickest 17mins of my life
Between parts 1 & 2 I'm pretty triggered so I'd say good job. I'd like to suggest some more bands for a possible part 3
Amon Amarth
The Black Dahlia Murder
Dillinger Escape Plan
Protest the Hero
Arch Enemy
Every Time I Die
Priestess
Rob Dukes era Exodus
Thursday
Black Label Society
Municipal Waste
Trivium
Job for a Cowboy
The Devil Wears Prada
Steel Panther
Man, I loved bleeding through so much. And I still enjoy them
Me watching Finn’s music history videos: “I love this man.”
Me watching Finn’s ranking videos: “I really hate this man.”
Yep! My audience hates my personality. They just like when I read wikipedia to them
@@FinnMckentyPRMBA oh I don’t hate your personality. I actually think you’d be fun as hell to hang with. I’m just bewildered by some of your music opinions.
That being said, I respect the hell out of you for how fairly you treat the band and genres you’ve covered. If I ever get the chance, your beer/coffee/ginger ale is on me.
