Jesus never spoke in tongues.... paul said its a baby baby gift.... jesus when he gave the holy spirit in acts 2 was a flame that appeared as tongues that had power to fill believers... in addition read the hebrew it says all who were able were given the ability to speak in another language.... not all the disciples spoke its says....they spoke in other languages.... holy spirit is more than tongue its jesus power in you. The bible says love faith hope are more powerful than any other gift..... jesus is that gift.
Bless you Bob. I Cor 14:5 says "I want all of you to speak in tongues but even more to prophesy." There are many times when we know not how to pray. There are many times that the church or an individual needs to be edified through either prophesy or tongues and interpretation. Don't close your spirit to what God has for you, He loves you and wants His best for you. Love in Christ.

@@CollectivelyBOB As with all the gifts of the Spirit, He gave it to us as a tool to edify and witness to others of His marvelous grace, mercy and power. Personally, I want all that He has for me but as with all gifts, you can refuse them. It would grieve me deeply if on a special occasion I gave my son or daughter a special gift that cost me a great deal and they simply said, "no thanks".
