Not including A12X/Z iPad pros is just beyond comprehension, as if those were not “Apple silicon” like M1. But then I also think squeezing a fixed dock and a fixed window stacks on the left, so that it can do overlapping windows on the 11 inch pro is pretty useless due to its size, particularly if on a Magic Keyboard where it’s more distanced on the desk than holding it in one’s hand, in which a triple app Split View should be the better solution cause it takes up every inch of the screen.
It really annoys me that my iPad Air 4 with an A14 chip, which is more powerful than the A12Z they put inside the Mac Mini Developer Kit, which runs a desktop OS with resizable windows and everything, will not support Stage Manager.
well; after several tests I can confirm that you absolutely need a keyboard and mouse to activate the connection to the external display. Currently not all external monitors are recognized by the OSIipad 16 therefore the resolution of the external screen (zoom) cannot be changed. The consequence is that the desk image will be enlarged and you will not see the dock and the windows will be partially visible. This happens with external monitors that have a resolution lower than 4k apart from sporadic cases. If you connect iPad to a compatible monitor (or a 4k te) and then disconnect and reconnect immediately to an incompatible full HD monitor this could work, for me it did.
Great video, thanks a lot! Unfortunately it's not working for me, I have a M1 iPad Air 5 connected to a 4K TV set via USB-C to HDMI cable, pluggin with stage manager on and iOS 16 updated, but it's only showing me the mirrored display without all those additional options in settings that can be seen on your video. The only difference with iOS 15 is that now it takes the full height of the 4K display, but not the full width.
I have an external display that is 2560 x 1600 but when I mirror the ipad i get black bars either side.. will stage manager also fix that or is only to extend your display?
