Very honest, Hazeline. I'm German and my wife is Thai. We both spoke reasonable English so decided to communicate in that language. That was good decision. The only drawback is when she gets annoyed with me and lets fly in Thai - and I don't understand much of it!

Thanks for sharing your story! I hope you’re back to English now or doing better in Thai 😄

I agree that Korean parents are very considerate. My husband was seated beside a Korean mom with a toddler during a flight. The mom apologised in advance to my husband if her child bothers him during the flight. However the child was so well behaved throughout, napping and playing by herself.

we got similar weather to korea... fact is in america we wear shorts outdoors even when its snowing... its like 19c in my house n i still dont sleep with a thick blanket also with a fan or 2 LOL... i just use the bedding sheets LOL!!! if i use a heavy/thick blanket id prolly have the window cracked even at 0c temps... just have a t shirt n shorts on... go outside frequently like that when its 8c outside...
couldnt imagine not having aircon on even if it was 22c+.... u didnt spoil him he just came to his senses 🤣🤣
as they always say... its easier to cool down then to warm up...

Hi just to share, I m a raised and born singaporean. My husband ‘s Sgrean too. We have a 12 yo son. We don’t have aircon issues but my husband and me have differences on who pays for meal if we eat out with our folks. My parents rarely allows us to pay for a meal even through they are recently retired. His side not retired but had the culture that kids pay for the meal. Regards to child behaviour, although we are local Singaporean, we are very wary that our child might bother others when in public. We will constantly check our kid ‘s hp volume and shhhh him if he talks too loud. We also feel that parents should set the tone right so the child behave. 😊 wishing you well!

I kinda feel that the arguments arise because of differences in upbringing.
And the solution is just to be patient and tolerate each other's quirks.

My wife is Canadian Chinese - I am Asian Chinese. We both have different school of thought on kids. e.g: tell my eldest daughter, make a mistake.. that is how you learn. Wife will say: Don't make a mistake or you're regret it not listening to me. Jialat!

Ahhh, the kid’s part…we do talk to the kid but kids being kids, they probably won’t listen at first instance. Like i can tell my boy few times don’t do this and that, he’ll listen at first then after a while then he’ll revert again…until i screamed at him. Different things will happen one, so ur bf might need to get use to it, else he’ll be easily irritated by his own kids next time.

Didn't know turning off aircon can be rude to someone !! (we do it exactly the opposite way - to turn it off to ensure he/she is not getting cold during the sleep)
