    I drilled my 4.3 Chevy aluminum oil pan, and didn't use any grease but, blew air through my breather. First pilot hole about an 1/8" air at 3 to 4 lbs, low, then turned it up to where i could feel the air blowing out the hole. Same with the tap, you can see the air was blowing the chips out. EZ PZ

    Hey, Im a plumber and just so you know when you thread or tap pipe its always a good a idea to squirt oil onto it while you do it or you're going to end up chewing the threads u should just use motor oil same viscosity and weight as the car instead of thread oil

    I own a truck shop and have done that with fuel tanks for accessory..but have not once done it to the most critical section of an engine..it's worth your reputation to take another hour to do it properly..it may or may not work the way your doing it But it's that other 5 percent of metal that gets in to turn things upside down lol..just wisdom from a guy that's been doing it professionally for 20 years..and by no means am I knocking you..good luck

      I agree. Always a good thing especially when doing a job like this. Fresh pan gasket, inspect the bottom end and even one metal shaving is too much. Only time I don't care is when I'm drilling for an egt probe on exhaust manifolds.

    If it’s your vehicle I’d say go for it. But idk if I’d do it with someone else’s vehicle. If I was working with someone else’s, I would rather be safe then sorry. All that aside good tips and I always love to see the do it yourself people not at a dealership shop or something. Keep up the hard work buddy. 👍🏼

  • @jkay8462
    @jkay8462 6 років тому +1

    Nice work.
    In case someone has an oil pan that's too thin to tap a bulk head fitting works too.
    Magnafuel has a - 10 an bulkhead fitting that has a stat-o-seal washer, (2) o-rings and another washer with a beveled edge for one of the o-rings to help create a leak free seal. All of this is important in order to create a sure seal & this fitting is originally intended for use with a fuel cell where a leak could result in death lol not all bulk head fittings are created equal.
    Before you decide to drill through your oil pan make sure that you verify 2 things.
    Make sure you don't place your fitting somewhere where there will be inferference with an oil pan bolt or stud. I've seen it happen.
    The other thing to watch out for is that there isn't any interference between whatever fitting you decide to use and any moving parts inside the oil pan. I've seen some fittings ( especially bulk head fittings ) that are longer than needed.
    Another thing, please remember that a cold start sees high oil pressure and believe me...
    This is where we experience a much higher likelihood of flooding the CHRA with too much oil.
    Nobody hangs in high rpm long enough to flood the turbo...
    With that being said, GL friends.

    I’m going to tac weld the 2 outer bolts my pan is metal and I done this to many cars without a issue,
    Where did you get the exhaust flange that fits mine is a 3 inch?
    That turbo looks like mine the ar for the exhaust housing is a 93....got a 3000 torc converter....if that doesn’t work with spooling will probably call it a day and use a 50 shot of nos that activates on take off. To handle lag.
