We have real bad ocean sunsets here and at times it will blind you even with sun glasses on certain highway stretches here. I avoid riding west after a certain hour.

Many years ago I was in the Army for several years, When I came out I went into Contract security for several years. It was when Honda had the Silver Wing. It was Full dressed (Double Top Box, Full Fairing and Hard Panniers) in White. I used to wear an open face white helmet as I wore glasses. One of those Dayglow Yellow jackets with Silver reflective strips. With Dipped Head Lights. And I had an idiot pull out in front of me and he said "Sorry I didn't see you"? I did think about asking if he was registered blind or what. I did add a set of Air Horns as the standard ones were crap. Only I had to keep the standard ones fitted for the MOT with a change over switch.

Yeah ... that sentence ALWAYS comes out "I DIDN'T SEE YOU!" So we all need to ride defensively. Tell you what though and just to make the point, if motorcycles were all fitted with a bomb at the front and it was known by the public ... they would PROBABLY see ya!

This bloke in the video referred to hitting a pedestrian ... well done for admitting to it!
Heather Mills came to public attention when she was a model in 1993 and was involved a collision with a police motorcycle in London. The accident resulted in the amputation of her left leg below the knee.
Another tragedy occurred here. A police officer who starred in TV programme Road Wars died along with a 91-year-old woman when his force motorbike smashed into a car while he was on duty. PC James Dixon, who was known as 'Dixie' by friends and on the Sky One show, was killed in the collision near the Berkshire village of Wargrave at 2pm yesterday. (December, 2017) I remember seeing this bloke on TV .... he came across as a great bloke ... very sad, but had he been riding at an appropriate speed, for the conditions surrounding him, what then?
Police are people just as we are ... and we ALL need to realise that inappropriate speed can cause serious injury or death.
We need police in and on, many different types of vehicles but I have witnessed police and fire appliance vehicle being driven dangerously. They will dislike admitting to it but it happens. I have ridden motorcycles since age 16 when I passed the motorcycle test (first time I hasten to add.) That is now 51 years ago. I took an advanced driving test in the mid 80's and it has served me well over the years but I do not believe that I know everything.
I have witnessed police contravening red traffic signals when NOT on emergency calls ... this being shown by their slow filtering (good stuff!) and having no lights etc. shown. We have all done it ... very rarely .. but it happens! I am not criticising them for this lapse.
I believe some police, bike and cars, ride and drive dangerously as do some fire appliance drivers, with the false sense of security that being a fire or police driver or rider entitles them to drive in the way SOME of them do, not all of course. Which is a shame ... it can cost lives.

Some of these police motorcycle riders believe that because they rid a motorbike no one else should I witnessed an incident a couple of weeks back going along Chelsea embankment in London a guy on a small cc bike riding well within the speed limit when a bike cop has a word it’s 30 alonghere sir he says to the rider yer I know he says that’s why I’m doing 25 with that the bike cops pulls of at brake neck speed and over the speed limit disappears into the sunset obviously late for his hot choc
