This is probably one of the most heart-wrenching songs I have ever heard. Knowing the circumstances behind it just made me literally sob when I first listened. Eric Clapton is truly a genius. My little boy is exactly 4 1/2 years old and I can't even imagine how this this man had the strength to go on after such a tragedy, let alone be able to perform this song without breaking down. God Bless him...
@@zenrr1 Same, remembering loving this song as a carefree adolescent. Now as a parent it instantly brings me to tears. Reminds me to spend more time with my children, be more attentive also acknowledge every moment with them is precious.
OOOOMMMMMMGGGGG! What a day! The second great song I found in one day. I was looking for this song so long also, didnt know the name. Thanks so much for posting, hahahahaha!
This is actually called Circus Left Town. On the original unplugged show the caption reads 'Circus Left Town' and as Clapton talks about the backround of the song he refers to it as this also.
he also wrote tears in heaven for his son smart one, i read the biography, he wrote Circus, and Tears in Heaven to help him get over the loss of his son
Yes, the unplugged version is better, sader in a way. And Tears In Heaven was written for a film jwalters213034 where he had to express a loss, Circus Left Town is directly related to his son.
Does anyone else notice that lasy gaga probably stole fun this song? Listen to "so happy I could die" maybe I'm wrong but I hear a replication, did like the same chords

Tom Walsh yeah I know. My son's the same age. No one would truly understand unless they were a parent. So yours must be a teenager now.

Gorgeous.
Só uma pessoa me deixou tão triste e foi embora como um circo...
The song was originally included in the broadcast Clapton Unplugged on MTV, but omitted fom the Unplugged CD. It was included on the Pilgrim CD.
There's a CD edition that includes it. Awesome acoustic version.
