    Today we are using tinkercad to design an N Scale Freight Depot/Train Station from the 1920s-1950s era. This was a fun one for me because it was a little less boxy than previous builds and I was able to put a little more detail into it. I also am debuting 2 new models for sale in my Etsy Store! This Freight Depot and an N Scale Fuel Dealer which you have seen me design the parts for in a previous video. These are all models that I intend to use on my model railroad.

    Bought one of the fuel dealer and the depot - can't go wrong for the price and quality of your buildings. Just hope I didn't miss out on the depot as the stock was getting low when I ordered. Now to start laying track so I have somewhere to put these. ;-) Thanks for being an inspiration to many and somewhere to spend some RR money.

    Neat building Jimmy. These could also be place on layouts as a small depot in the very rural towns that didn't have a lot of passenger service but more or less for mail. You plan on doing one in HO?

    Jimmy, I have really enjoyed your videos and decided with the recent Anycubic sale to buy a 3d printer. What tinkercad videos/instructional sources have you found the best? Thanks!!

    Jimmy, in your calculator segment at 01:31, it reads 4267 * .00625 Can you please explain what that means? I realize this is an estimate for N Scale/Gauge but I haven't figured out the math just yet. Are you converting to centimeters? Also, when doing say H0, do you use the same design but upscale the whole thing to another calculation? Thanks!

    • @DIYDigitalRailroad
      @DIYDigitalRailroad  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Johnny! No problem. So the 4267 is 168 inches or 14 feet converted to millimeters. the .00625 is decimal version of 1:160 which is N Scale. So I used google to convert to millimeters from inches, then I got the scale measurement by multiplying it by .00625. The reason I am using millimeters is that 3D printers build space is measured in millimeters so its easier to build for that. for HO scale all you have to do is 1/87 and you get .0115 So instead of multiplying the 4267 by .00625, you would multiply it by .0115.

    Hey Jimmy what was your cad time for this building?

    • @DIYDigitalRailroad
      @DIYDigitalRailroad  4 роки тому

      If my buildings are square, I've gotten them down to about an hour for a building. I have made templates that make things go a lot faster. If it is a 100% custom design it can take me days if I tweak it it a lot.
