Tubes, ahhhh. My wife’s trike has one tube that has a slow leak through the presta valve . The valve is just a little bent. It will be fine until I check it and put a little air in. Then the next day it will be low. Eventually it would stay up until I checked it for routine maintenance. In other words don’t mess with the valve stem. A month ago I installed new tires and of course this was a perfect time to replace that tube, I mean I had it in my hands! But no,no. The tube was good it was the valve that was tricky. I mean why waste a perfectly good tube. I’m so CHEAP! Back in it goes, next day flat. Then my genius kicks in. I leave the valve stem cover off and problem solved, the tube stays up. I finally figured out the plastic cap was pushing on the bent valve stem and creating a slow leak. Problem solved after a year and I didn’t waste a tube. 👍🙃🙃🙃👍. The next day we go for a ride, I check the tire nice and hard. Yes. We go for our ride, I’m not watching the tire because I know it’s fixed. Well about two blocks from home I see that it is flat. Rather than fix it I just walked it home, kicking myself in the butt for just not putting in a new tube. Later I put it up on the rack got out my stool and tire tools grab the tire and right in front of my eyes is something sticking out of the tire, try to pull it out with my fingers, no go. Get the needle nose pliers and pull out a half inch long curved thorn. Hey maybe I should just patch the tube, I mean I’ve got it figured out now, right? Hah,hah, hah. NO! Learned my lesson new tube installed and valve stem cover put back on. But you see I really am a genius, if I had put the new tube in with the new tire like a normal person the new tube would have been ruined. Genius just genius.😂😂😂

My god!! Hahahahahahaha! What a nightmare! Great story though. As I was reading it I saw (in my mind) a bunch of old cronies sitting around a table drinking coffee and telling stories about the trials and tribulations they’ve had and trying to (out story) each other. The one that told the best story was… (the tall one) he had all the old bastards on the edge of their seats. Then… as he finished… there was a long awkward pause… they all just looked at each other wondering who was going to crack first. All of a sudden, as if on cue…hysterical laughter! It disrupted the whole restaurant! The manager came over and told the old men that they had to keep it down or they would have to leave. Apologies… a little boyish snickering… then… compliance. It was the best day they’ve had in a long time, and a story to remember… thanks bud!

@@bent-n-rippin5573 or it could just be me saying what an idiot I am for not changing the tube when I installed the new tire. It’s not like I only have one tube and have to wait six weeks to get another.

@trikesquatch1217 yep, I know that feeling all too well. Trial… error… idiot… trial… error… idiot… repeat. We can always say that it was a learning experience. Hahahaha!
