How this show was... 1) not 1st place and 2) a point behind 1st place is insane.I'm convinced musicality is just moot at this point E: People who cheer when the performers fall are weird.
@@crysiscore2051 Blue Devils placed first in combined music captions. Their caption head is a Grammy nominated jazz musician. The top 7 all had incredibly musical productions this year.
Nothing against BlueDevils but it seems like Whomever is ever final scoring really doesn't want progression. Each year BC, Crown etc pull out amazing shows. BCs 2022 show was arguably the first show to include moving props of SUCH in a program. yet BD consistently leaves with gold. Dci doesn't want the organization to change, that traditional sense has a grip on them. And BD continually gives them that, and it is unfair to these other Corps, these kids, and everyone else who puts their all into these programs that are more than any can imagine. BD keeps pulling the same nonsense no direction show every year. "All corps are created equally, but some are more equal than others".
“Whomever” is literally 33 different judges across 3 different nights lmaooo. The shows you think are “progressive” aren’t nearly as progressive as you think, just keep coping kid
So many people agree with you and feel like the 1st place scoring in favor for Blue Devils no matter is getting old. Crown killed it this year! they deserved 2nd at least! IMO
BD has had some pretty abstract shows in recent years. This year's show was so abstract that I literally didn't know what the theme was until hours after the scores were announced last night. I think there are a lot of reasons BD wins so often, and while I'm also tired of it that's more because I'm tired of it not feeling competitive. The second I saw them over a month ago (the night they broke 80) I knew they were gonna win regardless of how much more I liked other shows. Unfortunately, innovation isn't really something the judges are supposed to consider. If said innovation makes a show more impactful, that'll help the GE score, but that's about it. Ultimately this really comes down to GE since that's 40% of the score, and it's such a subjective category that everyone's going to have a different opinion. It's worth noting that most judges throughout the weekend are corps alumni and at least last year I don't think any of the Finals judges were BD alums. As for the "tradition" argument, I'll echo bigbandcool and say that BD isn't very traditional. If anything, Cavies are the closest thing to a traditional corps anymore. Only one that uses uniforms, damn near the only one that even uses hats anymore, the only remaining all-male group, etc. In short, I don't think it's that the judges are conservative in their outlook; I think it's about whatever culture BD has in-house, the staff they have, and to an extent their resources that just make them better than every other corps at executing their shows most years. Every corps is formulaic to a degree; BD's far from alone in that. But the sport is changing a lot, I think the judges understand that, but they're also looking at these shows very differently than the audiences. Think about the years Academy has been among the crowd favorites (2016 probably being the best example); if audience enjoyment was a category, they'd probably make Finals most years. Coats would've easily won this year. Sorry for rambling, but I have a lot of complicated, sometimes-contradictory thoughts about exactly this. I understand your frustration, but I disagree with the reasoning. I hope I made sense, and I don't mean to cause any offense or drama. Just offering my own thoughts.
I'm not usually a fan of voice overs during the whole show, but this is done fairly tastefully. I also noticed that one of the trumpets looked like he slipped and fell twice during the first few minutes. I was wondering if he was hurt and gutted it out to finish, or if there was something wrong that caused him to slip. Does anyone know. He was not appearing to be going too fast or unusually long steps. Just curious. The more I watch this show, the more it grows on me. The show designers seem to be on a different level then the rest. It reminds me of the Cavaliers in the early 2000s when their overall designs were heads above everyone else.
I noticed this too and when I looked closer at the second time it happens it looks to be from the pant legs from being too long :/ I hope they were/are ok
The show is fine, it's the designing artist that sucks. If I wanted to hear an asshole playing with a voice editor I'd do it myself. And I want to see live performers, not anything prerecorded. For that, use a radio.

I don't mind the narration as much as the previous year’s, and the ballad and Bump are cool. With that said, the shows from ‘19-‘23 don’t resonate with me as much as ‘06 and ‘14-‘16. Hope they mix those two bloo eras.
Thiiiiiiiis was absolutely mind blowing in every way
Love the DM punching the final trumpet hit.
6:05 That was a nasty fall, but a great recovery
So this was on at about 2:30 British time, and i woke up just In time for the finale, such a shame that i missed the whole show, but I stayed awake , drunkdly, for the results. Such a shame, the Bloos lost, they were so creative and truly achieved art.
I was an American visiting Scandinavia at the time. I was staying up to watch, with the intention to just sleep on the plane ride home, but my flight was cancelled in the middle of the night and I missed the top 5 and retreat (rebooking was a nightmare). Devastating. Thank for UA-cam at least letting me watch the show now.
so i went to this goofy ah garden
How this show was...
1) not 1st place and
2) a point behind 1st place
is insane.I'm convinced musicality is just moot at this point
E: People who cheer when the performers fall are weird.
I mean, BD blew them out of the water in ge. Ge is king.
Yeah if u get best GE u have the best chance of winning unfortunately... 40 points v 30.@@colorguarddrummajor
Musicality is moot. DCI is not about music. The winner won for visuals exclusively.
BD performed their show amazingly i just prefer this show lore
@@crysiscore2051 Blue Devils placed first in combined music captions. Their caption head is a Grammy nominated jazz musician. The top 7 all had incredibly musical productions this year.
The closer this year had me in tears

trombonist: WOOOO!
I absoultely love that Star Wars esk part when the Trombones play
I love when they use Bon Iver for their ballads😩😭 beyond beautiful🥲
Wow! This wasn’t a competition piece, this was a great performance!
This show is so innovative
I love the solo and the attack at 9:00 better than bump following after imo
I loved this. 👏🥰
Absolutely best 'coats guard ever.
Omg I just realized at 6:03, one of the brassline in the front row tripped and fell on something. Amazing Recovery!!!
Cleanest vis of 2023 🔥🔥🔥
ITS SO GOOD!!
0:03 bless you
💀
Those uniforms are awesome
no, they aren't. They're puke-inducing; they're somehow worse than their 1990 uniforms!
Right after the trombone solo was amazing
i like the theme of 2022 better, but the music in 2023 is just AMAZING
The shows you think are “progressive” aren’t nearly as progressive as you think, just keep coping kid
bd is far from "traditional" lmao
So many people agree with you and feel like the 1st place scoring in favor for Blue Devils no matter is getting old. Crown killed it this year! they deserved 2nd at least! IMO
@@JPGdesigngroup Hey Julia! Unfortunately, I don’t think “deserve” means what you think it means :(
BD has had some pretty abstract shows in recent years.
Just offering my own thoughts.
god those uniforms look comfy
this show really bloomed on me throughout the season
i don’t get it
flower reference
I was there it was so awsome
I remember when they reharshed at my school and it was crazy
9:48 that was genuinely the loudest chord i have ever heard in my life when i saw it during semis
The poor trumpeter who tripped 💀
I saw that too and died
Rip bro
I saw this and it was amazing
I noticed this too and when I looked closer at the second time it happens it looks to be from the pant legs from being too long :/ I hope they were/are ok
if its who i think youre talking about his shoe came untied unfortunately
i like how the guy laughs and says yea at the beginning
Amazing.
Even the calp @ 3:10 was cleaner
Mello note going into 2:32 😩😩😩😩
the beginning was so silly I couldn't help but laugh 😂 overall really deserved first place though 👍
Anyone else see the trumpet player that tripped, smooth af recovery
Def some tilt vibes 🤙
6:10 one of the trumpets fall then recover greatly
0:03 bless you!
WHERE SO MANY SWEET FLOWERS BORE!!!!!!!!
HOW DID THEY NOT WIN???????
The haters of this show are hilarious.
The show is fine, it's the designing artist that sucks. If I wanted to hear an asshole playing with a voice editor I'd do it myself.
And I want to see live performers, not anything prerecorded. For that, use a radio.
Blue Devils deserved to win but this was my favorite show this year.
starts at 1:17
I love this show so much. So much more interesting than whatever the same rehashed show the blue devils spit out every year
Artistry!
Magnífico

Hated this show visually because it was waaaaaay too over the top but musically 😮💨 So good!
I hated this show at first, now it's in my top 5 of all time.
Did you put in all the ads or is that UA-cam's doing?
Thats UA-cam haha
@@shadowkercaine9694 lol, figures. Thanks for uploading this!
Just Wow
