Hi you should go for the 24 to 105 as for the F4 or F2.8 it would be down to how much you wish to spend as the f2.8 is a lot more, however it is great in low light and you will also get better bokeh (blurry background) if money is no object then I would go for the f2.8 - hope this helps cheers Hieth
Your review is just what I've been searching for! As you say there are plenty of tech "reviews" which regurgitate the specifications to me that I already found for myself, usually shouted at me with over enthusiasm. Thank you for demonstrating the extra reach that the 105 achieves which I believe will benefit my type of photography. I have never been as excited about a lens as I am with the thought of getting one of these. It will be worth the extra weight and length.

I own the 15-35 f/2.8, 85 f/1.2, 70-200 f/2.8, 28-70 f2.8, 100 to 500 f4.5 and the 24 to 105 f2.8 and that is the one that stays on my camera most of the time.
Didn’t even realise this len’s existed! I got rid of my EF 24-105 because at F4 it just wasn’t quick enough for the type of stuff I shoot commercially, it’s still the sharpest lens I’ve owned though. Seeing that they’ve put out a F2.8 RF version is something I didn’t expect, but I think it’ll sell well
I’ve been hung up on these two for months on which to get. I’ve heard the 24-105 2.8 has onion rings in the bokeh… but I’ve never heard that anywhere but PetaPixel… I’ve picked both up, and the sharpness of the 24-105 is just madness. I think that’s the one for me!
Hi Ryan - I have not noticed those onion rings myself and you are right the sharpness of the 24-105 is superb. My 24-70 has not been used for 6 months now and I have PX it against my Canon R5 MKII - the only thing I would say is the size it is a big lens but it is ace - cheers Hieth
Hi, good video. At 24mm is the field of view the same on both lenses? Remember seeing another video where they claimed it wasn't as wide(possibly due to lens corrections). Thx
Hi thanks for watching I have not seen this myself in my tests when I shoot RAW however I cant say 100% certain as if someone uses JPEGs and the camera does its magic you may find a slight difference but nothing that would stand out cheers Hieth
I did my friend. And it’s a lot. And very blurred and unclear close focus shots in 105 wide open. Watch ChristopherFrost review. I was very disappointed with this lens when I had tried it to replace my 24-70 f2.8

Great review sir..Overall, the 24-105mm lens is a more versatile lens with a longer focal length, better image stabilization, and faster autofocus. However, it is also more expensive and requires a separate adapter for smooth video zooming. The 24-70mm lens is a more affordable option that is still a great all-around lens.

Das vorgestellte Hybridobjektiv würde sich besser verkaufen ohne diese Einschränkung! Canon hat auch keine Begründung geliefert für diesen Einschnitt! Dieses Objektiv wird ein Nischenprodukt bleiben nicht nur wegen des Preises! Zu klobig und wer braucht einen Power Zoom Adapter....

Well, where they really buggered it up with the zoom adapter is not giving a proper rocker switch, especially for the money they’re asking for the thing.

What about severe chromatic aberration and flaring of 24-105 f2.8?
