Preheat oven to 350F / 180C
Ingredients for the chocolate cake:
1 cup (240 mL) whole milk
1 Tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar
2 cups (240 grams) all-purpose flour
¾ cup (63 grams) cocoa powder
2 cups (400 grams) sugar
2 teaspoons (8 grams) baking powder
1 teaspoon (6 grams) baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
2 eggs, room temperature
1 cup (240 mL) black coffee
½ cup (120 mL) vegetable oil
1 teaspoon (5 grams) vanilla extract
Ingredients for the Chocolate Ganache Whipped Cream & Filling:
2 cups (480 mL) heavy whipping cream, divided use
1 cup (170 grams) bittersweet chocolate chips or chunks
2 Tablespoons (15 grams) confectioners’ sugar
400 to 500 grams fresh strawberries, washed and hulled
Ingredients for the Chocolate Ganache Glaze:
¾ cup (127.5 grams) semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips or chunks
1½ Tablespoons corn syrup
3 Tablespoons (42.5 grams) butter
Strawberries, quartered (optional, to garnish)

The batter came out too bitter what can I do? I substituted milk for water and butter btw so idk if it was that or something else
The only thing I can think of that could make the batter bitter is excessive baking soda. 🤔

Can i use half the sugar only?
I think half would be too much of a reduction and might mess with the texture of the cake already. I recommend 10%, at most a 20% reduction of sugar. Honesty this cake doesn’t taste all that sweet as is.

It really depends on how you portion your cake. Some people like big slices and some like smaller slices but 10-14 servings is a safe bet.
@TheTummyTrain well I am going to make a cake but my pan is rectangular and extremely big, like 14 inches...I wanted to calculate with the ingredients
