I got a bike that literally just clicks when I hit the start button. Ignition works, new battery, but it just clicks when I go to start. I'm assuming it's the Starter motor? I just recently had the Starter clutch replaced when I would go to start it and it would just spin.

Great video, actually had me in suspense for a little while to see what the actual fault was.

By the way, out of curiosity... was it literally the last 3-4 starts that the Starter Circuit Cut-Off Relay had left in it? Or was that just pure coincidence/luck?

I found this relay part # 3EN-81950-00 at Partzilla for $46 brand new. Solved my issue as well, but I had several electrical gremlins due to previous owner hacking into the harness in multiple locations. Great video.

I see you have the right control off the bikes, run/off switch has alot to do with both fuel pump and starter button working

Did the starter circuit cutoff relay fix the problem?

I just bought a 2002 1100 that turns over but won't start. It will run if push started. I'm going through all the wiring and noticed on the starter relay like your replacing that the 4 pin connector you snapped back together mine only has 3 of the 4 female ends of connector is being used . There's a red wire , a blue wire and a red wire sharing with a red/white. The fourth female slot has no wire going into it. Is that typical? I can't find a loose wire anywhere. There's not even the copper/brass piece in that 4th hole that would indicate a broken off wire...Help

The 3 wires you tested on the starter solenoid where do they get power? I have a 99 vstar with a total loss of power past the solenoid. I have no power to those 3 wires. I replaced it and no change.

My '07 is not starting either. Hit the starter switch and no click or anything. I bypassed straight to the starter and it tried to turn over. I am thinking either the switch or the solenoid.

Clean the kill switch like I did and see if that fixes it. Disassemble it sand paper the contacts and reassemble.

@@rabidsquirrelgarage745 so far no luck. The kill switch and ignition switch look good and continuity is good. Kick stand switch is good, so I guess I will check the neutral switch next.

you installed the wires on the wrong side of the terminal

  • @supytalp1687

Dont suppose you put the two wires that came off the solenoid on the wrong sides did you. Like positive red wire and negative black wire next to the fuses. I dont know if that's a thing on that though as I have no clue about this stuff. As I noticed you out them on in a different position as the old ones came off

    • @rabidsquirrelgarage745
      @rabidsquirrelgarage745  4 роки тому

Nah, the positive has a lead going to the fuse. It's easy to tell which is which.

I just ordered one for my bike off Amazon and they have the positive and negative switched around opposite from the one that was on the bike. Cheap parts go figure 🙄

I have the same type of problem with my 07, it's wasn't the switch but can only hear a click from under the seat when I press the start button, all the electrics comes on but it just won't start, what you reckon could be the cause of that?
I bought a new battery (acid)
Checked the 30 fuses under the seat
Tried to jump it with my car
    Didn't push it yet

    • @rabidsquirrelgarage745

If you hear a click but the starter doesn't turn over, I look at the starter itself. Could be bad.

Apply 12v directly to the stud on the starter. If it doesn't turn over, then most likley your starter is at fault...

    • @andrewarmanious2078

Did you find a solution? I have an 02 I can put 12v to the starter directly and itll crank, and I can push star the bike. It has a new battery and good voltage but no power to the starter

    • @em2328

@@andrewarmanious2078 it was the starter relay in the end, keep it simple buff off any corrosion on electrical contacts, check wired for stiffness because my Harley had a bad set of grounds battery cable it would turn on but wouldn't crack over no matter what I did, got me baffled for days until I found out why,
