  • A beginner cajon lesson and training session that helps you learn and practice the most basic rhythms in a simple, step-by-step way. Each cajon beat is a very slight evolution of the previous one so that soon, you'll be able to play through the whole 33 minute exercise with ease!
    I'll play you each groove at a medium tempo and you can control the speed for your own practice. Go extra slow for your first session. When you think you've mastered the grooves, try increasing the speed bit by bit.

      Thank you very much for your comment. My hope was to make the smoothest possible increase in difficulty by bringing in the left hand accents once the student has become comfortable with counting and feeling time.

  • @swatijane8891

    Thanks for the great lesson. Two questions -
    1) Are most of the accents and the Bass beats supposed to be on the RH itself?
    2) Could you please do videos on technique and how to make the instrument sound good/producing good tones?

    • @rosslmccallum
      @rosslmccallum  2 місяці тому +1

      I’m glad you liked the video!
      1) No, there isn’t a rule like that but for beginners’ rhythms, playing accents on 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & keeps things simple to start. My way of playing is generally RLRL RLRL all the time so just the timing of when an accent needs to be played determines if it’s a right or left hand.
      If you like the format of this video, listen to or play along with the next level one and you’ll get many more interesting combinations of right and left hand accents.
      ua-cam.com/video/YIembEqa1-Q/v-deo.htmlsi=Fm2jdM2rGhgT3QCg
      2) Yes, I would like to make a standalone video for getting a great sound with your hands. I think everyone’s hands have their own sound, so I want to make the video about “finding YOUR sound” rather than “achieving THE sound”. Or maybe a balance of both. I’ll slowly work on it.
      If you have any other questions, let me know!
