- Season of Discovery updates are upon us and Blizzard might be ready for you to try out ALL NEW Class and Race combinations in World of Warcraft. There have been rumors going around that new class combos may get introduced much like when World of Warcraft Cataclysm released allowing Alliance Players to be Shaman and Horde Players get their hands on the Paladin class. What class combos would you want to see in this next update?

It's funny, because Ascension has a necromancer class and it's fucking broken. One of your specs summons like 50 minions. Shit's crazy. My favorite spec is the frost-focused spec. Build up damage and then dunp your stacks for huge damage. Stuns, slows, silences. Super fun.

Wasnt Class homogenization what pissed off alot of the Clascic WoW playerbase? Having all classes and races being able to do EVERYTHING takes away from each classes individual flavor. That is what people got upset about.
Yeah but it doesn’t make any sense on why they would get upset to me. Do you not think Humans would learn how to be capable hunters from there dwarves/night elf allies? wouldnt it make sense for races to try and learn every class possible especially after being allied for years? Seems silly to me tbh and makes perfect sense as to why every race should be able to play every spec outside of DH and dragon bois.
I mean it is called world of Warcraft and in War you tend to gather up as much knowledge/resources as possible.

That's because Classic players say they don't like that stuff, but in reality they absolutely LOVE it. Just think about all of the people who said they weren't going to play Cata and they are secretly playing prepatch and anxiously waiting for Cata.
Giving a Paladin to Horde and a Shaman to Alliance is NOT what Class Homogenization is. Making the faction exclusive classes no longer be faction exclusive is a very different thing compared to something like "give every healer a small heal, a big heal, an AoE heal, a heal over time, and the exact same mitigation spell"
The 40 bracket would’ve been the perfect time for them to implement this. On the one hand, Horde players could’ve found a Tauren Paladin in Scarlet Monastery that, after a quest chain, unlocks them for Horde players. On the flip side, finding a Dwarf shaman that wondered off from Nessingwary’s camp that was essentially adopted by the local trolls and taught the ways of shamanism, could’ve unlocked dwarf shamans for the Alliance.

Love the copium but highly doubt it. Too much for SOD to almost be over. They added an XP buff so people wont be low level anymore and can try the new content.
Well… videos like these are what might cause this to happen. SoD is a weird fan desire abomination (I love it because of that) and if people beg for it… it might happen.

The Cata pre-patch has reminded me how good some of the new class/race combos really are. I can't believe we didn't get Human and Forsaken Hunters from the get-go. Let me be Aragorn in classic, Blizzard!!

Dwarf shaman would be a perfect counterpart to tauren paladins. Just say its Wildhammer dwarves! They could even introduce the tattoos they've got as an option.
Dwarf shamans are a thing in cata
Wildhammers aren't canonically playable in vanilla, nor were they shamans before cata made that a thing. Tauren paladins also don't make much sense, I believe.

Dwarf Shamans, Human Hunters, Undead Hunters, and etc are the good to combos for Vanilla.

Given we don't know the eventual fate our SOD characters will have, I'd only put up possibilities for race/class combinations that would show up in cata/mop etc.
A good thing though is no more zug zug or human supremacy at 60 with the weapon skill choices, hopefully they get on that with retails racials one day.

I took a break for phase 2 and staryed playing again recently and it's even better now

sod has been out since last year and you're telling me that you have just now come to the realization that it's a seasonal thing unlike era? which is weird to me because it had that name since release and we even knew before that as well. honestly might quit wow altogether at this point because no matter which iteration of wow you pick, they all have their own minmax culture with parsing and logs. or you actively look for a chill guild that doesn't care about this stuff like the guy above me just said.

We have data already. Durf shaman, night elf mage, human hunter. But the most important thing is the manual group finder.
I would love if they did new class combos like human druid, shaman gnome, paladin troll/orc something that is really out there and fun and unique.

Tauren Paladin isn't crazy in regards to lore, but dwarf shaman doesn't make sense as it stands now. Know what does make sense? The evolved Dark Trolls (Night Elves) Re-discovering Shamanism. Do the thing. :P
Dwarf shaman already fits the lore with the Wildhammer clan.
SOD classic was a great opportunity to remove the faction locked classess. Was such a shame that my old shaman buddies couldn't join us 😕
So hear my out, I saw this somewhere else, but Ally dont get shamans, the get rune masters. They are pretty much shamans just a different name. And Horde gets the OG Death Knights, just paladins but a different name.

I thought it was a whole trait in classic, that shaman is for the Horde, while paladin is for Alliance
SoD isn't classic. Also, fun is more important

Nah alteast keep the unique faction classes separate. Dont want classic plus to be circus. Leave the clowns in retail, we don't want them here. Though human hunter sounds cool, a cow man rogue is stupid though so just leave the nonsense out of wow sod pls.
I think giving rogues backstab blink was stupid. Never add deathknights deathgrip.

adding tauren paladins/dwarf shamans would requires a bunch new rune acquisition methods as many of those class runes takes place in faction specific areas or require faction specific npcs (sheath of light comes to mind)
I would prefer they keep alliance pallies and horde shammies. It gives the factions some more uniqueness that I love

There is a dwarf shaman already in classic, its boss in brd. He has chain lightning and lightning shield.
A really enjoyable part of classic is playing warrior as horde in raids. No plate competition, not a ton of 2h competition etc.
Gnome hunter would be fun!

Chieftain's Bane from ST is an iconic retail Tauren Pally weapon.I think its 99% confirmed.

Dev's have talked about how the underlying code SoD is based on is the same as the Era client, so changing stuff is already pretty difficult, to the point that just changing talents in the talent tree is a huge pain in the ass. Bringing new abilities is probably the best they can do, I doubt they'd try to program entire classes into a new race combo. That's a lot of new abilities they would need to code for a new race. With Cata dropping, they're probably stretched really thin.
So I doubt any new class and race combos.
Night elf shamans and nelf and undead paladins, I’ve wanted it for so long!
All I want from SoD is a DK class, that would make me VERY happy. Afterall, there is already an NPC in the game that mentions Arthas and is a confirmed DK, good ol Gregory. But if not DK, Night Elf Warlocks would be ok too I guess
only a Shaman can become a Paladin and only a Paladin can become a Shaman.
Feel if Moo Cows get pally they may give Dwarf shammy just to let each faction to play missing classes. Also if moo cows get Priest, may see gnome priest just speculating here
Add bard as class, talents tree based on type of instruments. Or add more faction exclusive classes Demon hunter for alliance DK for horde or more races (no furry shit)
Dwarfs would be the only fitting choice for a Shaman in Classic
yeah wouldnt be surprised if they give horde paladins and alternatively give alliance the finger, because that's just standard issue at this point for sod
I am ok with this. I play horde and i really dont want to roll alliance to just have a paladin. I do have one main and 1 alt though.

dwarves would be the ones getting shaman seeing as they already have it in retail, if tauren paladins are introduced as a precursor to the sunwalkers.
As long as they add High elves and goblins to Alliance and Horde Idk what combos they add.

horde pally and alliance shaman makes sense, otherwise the 2 classes have to be balanced to be equal
What if.. The Tauren is able to give ANY Horde race the item to become a Paladin with his blessing. (Forsaken Paladin? :D)
Unless the new race comes with the racial: "Raidworth: you always have a parse score of 99" nobody would roll an alt anyway. SoD is anti-casual / full sweat.

my biggest complaint with SoD is i was hoping it was gonna finally be an excuse for wow to drop the "that isn't possible for lore reasons" completely i wanted crazy GNOMES CAN BE DRUID! ORCS CAN BE PALADINS! WANT TO HAVE A PLATE WEARING PRIEST AND SHOOT A GUN?! YOU GOT IT! it's just not crazy enough for me just feels like Classic WoW but we got some cool low level loot
I just want to have more spirit healler, fast mount cast, more flight points and class adjustments.

Id absolutely support new classes and races for a classic+ but not for a seasonal server, just too much work would be needed id rather see else where.

A lot of fun.
Certain raids becoming dungeons, new spec options, like mage healer, tank shaman and warlock. Gotta hunt down your own abilities in some cool ways.

Sure i dont mind new race/class combos.
But i dont think Tauren paladin npc that makes a quest for paladins/hordes is proof that they will add it in the future.
They probably added him beacuse it is a cool npc that never was used in vanilla or such.
I also dont think class/race combos will make people to do alts.
The biggest issue for many players to do alts is that you need to get all the runes over and over again. Like dark riders quest that nobodys doing anymore.
It would be better if they just add an npc that you can buy previous runes from with wild offerings or silver coins or just pure gold.

They need to do anything asap, literally 0 content in this phase i have no reasons to log in expect raid which is actually fine for me but it's 1-2h per week, too casual even for me lol
If they really don't start adding in some unused areas as new content, I don't think I'm trying the next round.

Adding Alliance Shamans and Horde Paladins erodes the runes they implemented to offset this disparity already. Further they already said they didn't want to and that's why they gave hunters kings and druids windfury.
In my opinion Dwarf Shaman and Tauren Paladin (or even Undead Paladin) from the outset made sense. As much as I love the quirks of Classic, this was a quirk that isn't necessary in 2024. Windfury on Druids and Kings on Hunters damaged the game far more than the class combos ever would've.

I’ve been denied to play my favorite class and race combo
Necromancer will always be my number 1 request. Genuinely I have no care for any other fantasy version of necromancer other than warcrafts necromancer. Just the style of the sketchy mage that's secretly a necromancer just gets me. Thing is I DONT EVEN LIKE CASTERS , yet necro will always be my number one request for WOW.
What concerns me the most is what is going to happen when all Classic content is over.
Are they going to add more stuff creating the mythical Classic+ or Classic 2.0?
Or they just move on to TBC season of whatever?
SoD is a great idea, not as fun as i expected due to logging and some players being super expectant over the top this-class-is-not-meta but a fun journey for sure.
But i see here some level of milking the same cow over and over, with some minor changes to give some freshness.
i mean by all means blizzard go ahead but i dont think thats really what the players want we are just waiting for P4 to come out and i am enjoying this lul in content actually cuz it gave me time to lvl my warrior all the way up now i just gotta get his professions and gear up! I LOVE SOD

Honestly phase 3 killed SOD, I played all three phases and it's glitch after glitch, and they don't test anything that comes out. Going to classic cata

No more Soul Link. Spending hours farming for my bis dagger in one of the most boring and ridiculous rng commitments I've done in a game (in a seasonal server that won't mean anything in a few months mind you).
Good raid, but everything outside that raid has been disappointing

Undead paladin. Dwarf shaman. We need a season of hero classes where you level up the base classes to 40 and then some specific class/race options can do a quest line and become a hero class. Possibly design it so they can swap like dual spec between the hero class or basic class. Nightelf warrior to demon hunter. Orc warrior to blade master. Dark ranger if we get the appropriate elf race for it. Some hero classes for both factions like tinker, runemaster, necromancer, spellblade or battlemage. Human paladin or undead warrior to death knight. These hero classes should just have 1 spec. Look into it nixxiom, it was the original vanilla dev plan, but they thought specs gave enough customization

Sod is kinda like a worse version of ascension
If blizzard wanted us exploring the world and levelling alts then they shouldn't have made incursions as an incredibly boring replacement to levelling. I'd be happy to see TBC SoD but capped at level 60 with no outlands. I just want to raid as a bloodelf paladin and see players in the ghostlands again.
Wont be new race or class combos. These Easter eggs we are seeing are a reference to future events in wow.
Just like how we are going to have a whole new area of silithus to explore. People don’t realize SoD is an attempt to get players interested in retail.
Xalatath is looking to collect the essence of old gods, well she needs 2 more. One being in war within and the other being the retail-currently dead cthun. So just like for yogg sarons essence she’s gonna time travel to get cthuns.
