Fully loaded auto in Sweden now is about £40800. Incl pan roof and towing hook. Does not incl alarm and parking pack as those aren’t available here. Got mine fully loaded demo for under £29000 so I’m very happy. 😁 Backing camera is standard though.. Just missing the door protectors and fully automated parking from the parking pack.
Great vid great car but think you missed the obvious competitors. Octavia vRS or Cupra estate. I’m an Octavia owner (fan) but think the Cupra may beat all??

I’ve got a manual, estate, fully loaded in mean green. Paying that awful tax for the next 5 years but the car is fantastic. I’ve got 3 kids under 8 years old and it’s a great family car, but when I’m by myself in it 😈 it’s a hoon to drive! Keep the videos coming Sam, your channel is great 👍

@@Daggerpie69 What is that tax bracket you guys have? In Sweden we have to pay extra for the first three years of the car. This includes all combustion engines. For my ST hatchback auto we have normal tax of £147 yearly. First three years it is £1015.
Yes very hard to specify under the 40k mark. With no options it does creep under but certainly the pan roof is a great addition and that puts it over. The way the car drove was fantastic and I can recommend 👍
@@PJD4875 So what was your yearly income 20 years ago? Yes Fords have gone up a little more but generally they are still quite nicely priced. i30N being an exception. That car is just cheap here in Sweden anyway.. Normally a car should cost around a normal yearly wage. Plus/minus depending on spec an make/model.. Here the Focus ST hits the target pretty well. Although they could’ve put the max price to hit just under £40000..
The owner mentioned mid 30mpg's however it will vary depending on how you drive. With a heavy right foot this car will be in the low 20's quite easily.

@@SamAustin I have owned mostly manual Focuses, except the last two. Both bought new. A chrome blue ST-line X estate 182ps auto (wasn’t possible to order manual at the time nor the 150ps). Also probably the last manufactured 182ps, late january 2022. .Now I own a Focus ST hatchback mean green auto. Bought as new although it had been a demo car that stood pretty much in house for 10 months. This is fully loaded as sold in Sweden. But we don’t get thatcham alarm or advanced parking pack here. The backing camera is standard though. To the point.. In my experience the auto is so much easier to live with daily. But you get used to manuals so if you don’t drive autos daily you’ll not know what you miss. But manuals are fun, especially if you drive spirited or on a track. But to ”need” a manual ST is just BS. 99% of the time the auto is better.
It is worth considering for sure. Great car and you have the option of manual or auto too. It will be firmer than your E400 just to let you know but plenty of fun 👍
@@SamAustin Plenty of fun and even more fun than the Mercedes. It has less hp than my E400 but weighs half a ton less 😅 Plus, I have to admit that the Focus ST looks better, especially in that green!
@@SamAustin just signed everything today for a manual ST estate! 😍 Will get rid of the Mercedes and can drive my brand new mean green ST in 2-3 weeks 😍
there are a lot of opinions about the hp of this 2024 model. apparently the maximum power is 25% less than 280HP. interesting topic to check out. what will Ford say about it? 🤔
The gearbox was great for sure in this. Really suprised me and I can recommend this as an alternative over the manual as it worked well whilst still being nice and engaging for an ST model 👍
Just ordered my ST in automatic with every option, apart from the pointless head up display and the panoramic roof. Just never been a fan of glass over my head 😂 plus it ever so slightly raises the centre of gravity. Hatchback and in boring black. Now the long wait......not sure how long though.
how does your auto behave? have you gotten your hands on it? mine has some cling clang sounds in low revs especially in first gears when taking the foot off the gas or when slowly hitting the gas again. wondering if anyone else bumped into this issue.
I have the Mk 3.5 ST estate on a 2016 plate, great car love it.

As a matter of interest, what is the tax per year on a new one of these? (assuming it's over the £40k bracket) Cheers
@@Daggerpie69 I’ve had it less than a year so not taxed it yet but I think it’ll be a £500er as the list price was 42k with options.

Lovely car but even without metallic paint, the auto estate ST is over the dreaded £40K fiscal barrier.

Will have a closer look at a mean green auto estate in 1 week and I‘m super hyped! Every option in it. It will replace my Mercedes E400 estate.

Given Ford's history of auto gearbox reliability is was it a wise move. Powershift fiasco.

You know that was between 2010-2016 and a specific gear box type/model? Not all their gear boxes.
