The problem I have with many of these trivia type games is that once you play it enough you’ll know all of the answers. And since the trivia here is a super simple 50/50, it would be easier to remember the answers compared to something like trivia pursuit.
My thoughts exactly. The replay value of this game seems super low.
And with this format, trying to order 2 events/things? Timeline is literally that except you're ordering several things!
And for the other aspect you have Wits & Wagers to do something clever with betting
The only silver lining I can think of to this drawback is at that point the game has actually taught you something. However most of this information is as the genre sounds, trivial.
Plus the rhyming theme probably helps you remember it better.
@@Sara88890 Bad boardgame as a replayable "product", good idea for a classroom to learn things?
This would work a lot better as a digital game, I think. That way the trivia could be a bit more randomized
yup
This is a student web development project turned into a board game. Interesting for about one minute and then never again.
Honestly this could of worked way better had the topics on the cards be split, and they get randomly put together when a round starts. Because otherwise, the replay value is shot as with enough playtime, from memory you can just remember the answer the moment it pops up.
Timeline does basically that
yea. this sounds like it has less replay value than Obama Llama
It would probably be way too easy with that method. You'd frequently have pairs that were not even close.
Aside from the chips, this game's got the build quality of a kids meal toy. I guess that's fine for a $10 game you only play once or twice, but why splurge on chips? Would rather have kitschy plastic pieces or more cards and cardboard tokens.
probably because the poker chips are a more generic game piece, so you can get them very cheaply as they don't need to be custom made
My favorite game where you think about what things happened before which other things is Timeline. And it is different every time because you never know what cards are going to come up in a given game
I actually have this! It was in the clearance sale and I thought it looked fun enough to play with my family who all enjoy trivial persuit but sometimes want something quicker. I agree the build quality on the pieces is awful, we often just use other stuff instead for tokens. It's also a game that's better played in teams than with people on their own, so then you can have debates with your team mate on the answer, and the clockwise nature means that others can build off it too. You do end up with everyone putting a year though, as there's no reason not to, which can be annoying. One thing I will ay for people saying you would run out of cards, you do not get through a whole deck in a game unless everyone is playing poorly, we generally get through between 10-15 in a game that is generally under an hour. There are 2 decks included in the box so as long as you keep track of what's been used you can get a fair few games out of it.
Interesting game, but you probably couldnt play it too many times before knowing each answer by heart..
You could also probably make your own version of it using other games, like Timeline (you'd probably have to sort the tiles out a bit, not to end up with stuff like.. dinosaurs vs electricity)
Yeah! that stack of cards looks so short. In a way it's almost like you are buying flashcards to study obscure date facts.
I have to say, I would overthink the cards to the point of confusion, like: do they mean "beyonce" as a solo artist, or including her time with destiny's child, or just when she was born? It's too ambiguous!
I always appreciate when you do board game reviews. Typically the only times I learn about games I'd like are from playing them with friends, and rather than leaving and buying something that some one in the group already owns, it'd be nice to show up with something new for them. Thanks
Why wouldn't you just bet on a specific year every turn? If there's no punishment for guessing the year wrong and you still move forward if you were right about it being first, there's no reason to not try to guess the year right?
You can only place one chip on the year thingy. So if you're confident that Tupperware came first but are unsure of the year you can wager 3 tokens and go three space ahead instead of just one on the year marker.
Feels like the kinda game you'd load up on tts one time whilst everyone's drunk and never talk about it again
no, What's on _second_ , _Who's_ on first.
:P
If you like the idea of this game, I would highly recommend getting The Metagame (which has something over 7 different games to play with the cards). In the "History 101" game, you take turns drawing pop-culture cards and working to place them together along a timeline. It doesn't have a competitive edge, but it has such high replay value.
What's great is that you have to make multiple comparisons with a single thing's year instead of just between two things. (Ie: where does KFC fit in the timeline of Salvador Dali, West Side Story, and Furby?)
Ur videos give such good vibes. Glad I found ur channel man
Sounds like something I might pick up for $2 at a garage sale and play twice.
I wish that Amazing World of Gumball game was real.
Well this looks like it'll actually be pretty damn fun! I kind of want to get this game
not a bad idea for a quick party game but maybe instead of a long track just end the game after a certain number of rounds and continue for tie breaker.
also moving back isn't fun at all. just win points or don't win points.
What if everyone know the answers to everything?
Everyone win?
Or
Everyone lose?
You should review element if you haven’t already
After a few plays you’ll know all the answers too
Why he stopped making the vines? Can anyone tell
These you're of games are fun at first but offer increasingly little replayability as the more you play it the more you'll remember the correct answers, especially if you play with the same group of friends
What is the soundtrack? It's sooo soothing?
Is it Pokemon or Animal Crossing?
It's 7PM from Animal Crossing New Leaf
@@DiggOlive Thank you so much! I am going back to this soundtrack every couple days now I know the name and it's such an emotional catharsis whenever I listen to it the last couple days and it's so liberating.
@@Sjahko_ glad I could help. it is a great track
Hey alright
Oh this one is pretty cute.
Epic
This type of board game really fun at first, but will get boring at 10th play
Big potatoes best game is chameleon… snakes and this don’t have nearly the replayability
This is just a strictly worse version of Timeline
I will come out and say it; this felt like a terrible game. The first thing I thought of was "do they have expansion packs, because the number of questions looks limited." The rules also feel fleshed out.
I came first
THATS WHAT SHE SAID
@@_b_9954 damn, bravo sir bravo
it is interesting but poorly executed in terms of design.
This is cool, but why not make more “why I don’t” videos? 😂
i don't think i'd buy this game unless it's less than 10 dollars tbh
