I'm gonna share my favorite Kobe moment. I'd love to hear yours. When we were getting blown out by Boston in Game 6 I watched the whole beatdown. The look on Kobe's face, the regret, the pain, the loss all told me we were winning the chip the next year. And he kept that serious never smiling face all the way through to the 2009 finals where the job was finally finished. In retrospect, it's even more memorable because of what he didn't do, throw his teammates under the bus or beg for more help
I’m not sure if I have a favorite moment. But I always admire Kobe for how hard he played the game and how much he cared about it. The world hasn’t been the same since he passed away but his legacy is still alive 💜💛🙏🐍
Too many unfabricated moments to choose from. I guess the Utah airballs. A team with 3 All-Stars didn't have the balls to get them to win against UTAH. But an 18 year old did. That was the beginning of Kobe's legend.
@@skap_attackThank you brother for not letting all these kids and noobs get away without knowing Kobe's true legacy. I'd love for you to do a video on how criminally underrated Dream is 😊
So glad I ran into your channel because I been saying this for the last 25 years 😭😭. If Kobe would’ve started from day one, yet alone torn his achilles, he would be the all time leading scorer

Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant’s mannerisms, appearance, and preparation for the game replicated each other. Perhaps their most similar trait was their work ethic and the passion and love for the sport of basketball. Both demanded greatness not only from their teammates and those around them but from themselves. Kobe Bryant continued to be among the top players in the league through the 2012-13 season, when he suffered a torn Achilles tendon at age 34. His next two seasons were cut short by injuries to his knee and shoulder, respectively. Citing physical decline, Bryant retired after the 2015-16 season.

He's an amazing legend, but even he knew that MJ was better. He never claimed to be the greatest (like LeBitch) he just wanted to be GREAT. And he wanted to follow that up with being great in his post-career work, but most importantly to him, be a GREAT father. And he was. We should just celebrate the man and his greatness without trying to say he's the greatest... that's what we used to do as hoopers and hoop fans. RIP Kobe, Gianna, and everyone who perished that day on that helicopter. May they all rest in eternal peace.
No he wanted to surpass MJ. Desperately. That's what made him great. He looked at the GOAT and said "I am going to surpass him" WHILE HE WAS STILL PLAYING. I don't think he got there. MJ was just that bit better. But he shot for the moon, and landed among the stars.

@HannibalBarca-d8e LeBron is better than Kobe and ranks higher all time due to his far superior stats as well as accolades and more statistically dominant seasons that are really good especially on the advanced stats of things Kobe didn’t lead the nba at any point in any advanced stat category which shows he was never truly dominant Kobe Bryant is a top 10 player of all time and you can make a decent argument he’s top 5 but he definitely isn’t top 3 And you cannot put him in the same discussion with MJ LeBron and Kareem. This video brought a tear to my eye… happy Mamba Day y’all… how I miss this guy and the beauty that was the game of basketball when Kobe was on the court!
As a Kobe guy, even I cannot place him as the "Greatest" player of all-time above someone like Jabbar who dominated both NCAA and NBA at an unprecedented level. Bryant was maybe the most skilled player I ever saw, certainly the most explosive. While defamed by sports critics and robbed of MVP's by the NBA I still got Mamba ahead of Steph, Bird, LeBron, Shaq and Duncan.
Technically you could make the argument that Jabbar didnt do much from 74 when oscar retired until he got magic in 80. That's a long span of non-dominance. Not hating, dont get me wrong
@@mike_tkgchs Incorrect. Jabbar was on Laker teams with no talent, yet he still stacked up MVP's at a record number. Do you realize how dominant you have to be to still win MVP awards while your team is not a competitive playoff team? No, I don't think you realize who you are dealing with..
I will admit. I was not a Kobe Bryant fan. Still he was among the best players ever. And if anyone was close to Michael Jordan in greatness, it was him. R.I.P Black Mamba
He should definitely be on the Mt. Rushmore of the NBA. He was the next best thing to Jordan, it's criminal how LeBron and Clutch sports have tried to diminish Kobe's career.
Kobe was the first Sports Superstars to build a fan base in China. The Millenials of Mainland China are all Mamba fans. The largest collector of Mamba memorabilia is a Mainland Chinese self made millionaire.
You can't compare a pandemic ring and an In-Season tournament trophy to a house that Kobe built. Kobe never left LA, he played through the ups and downs of the franchise and also through injuries.
The media will not tell you, Kobe is the only player in NBA history with over 33K points, over 6200K assists, over 7K rebounds and 5 NBA championships. Not Kareem, not wilt, not Russell, not Magic, not MJ, not Bird, not Curry, not, LeBron. Kobe, stands alone on the mountain with these credentials.

Beautifully done. I was a sophomore in high school when he went to the league. I was jealous, and I didn't like him quite frankly. Until I saw him play. KG and Bean were my favorite players. I didn't like Gasol I thought he was a waste and could have found someone better but he made it work. Those Celtics Lakers finals were probably the most hype rewarding series I've seen since. Hopefully the Olympics will get the NBA trending and LeBron retiring back to the way things were.

@Robss_ The wild thing is, many LeBron stans do it to Jordan *all the time*. So in kind... they do the same to Kobe even though they're play styles were similar, Jordan was not his only inspiration or mentor (Footwork he got my Hakeem, Defense and perimeter post ups GP, and 3 pt and drilling contested shots Reggie). Then again, when it comes to who's on Mt. Rushmore... Kobe is imo is #1 up there. You can't be an inefficient shooter and have the 2nd most points scored in a regulation season game with 81 points. That was before he changed from 8 to 24 too.
@@fgetsuga0 I don’t really get the 81pts game argument. You can have a phenomenal game like that and still not be particularly efficient throughout your career. Kobe averaged less points on worse efficiency compared to both Lebron and Jordan, throughout his whole career. Players like Jordan, Lebron and KD are statistically better and more efficient scorers than Kobe
I was a teenager when Kobe was drafted. I followed the NBA closely and LOVED Jordan. And because I loved MJ, I hated Kobe and the MJ comparisons. For about 16 years I watched and laughed as the Lakers kept suppressing his talents, surrounding him with clowns, and his career was riddled with injuries. I didn't want him to get close to Jordan! But then as his career was winding down, I started to realize that the career I was watching so closely to nitpick it apart, was one of the most incredible personal journeys I'd ever witnessed. I will never forget sitting down and watching that final game and marveling at the awesome career I had watched unfold. In my eyes he went from villain to my personal favorite basketball player of all time.
I'm getting more and more like other people. It is a disgrace to even mention LeBron with these people. Kobe was a winner. He made his team better and was just a very smart man genius level when it comes to basketball. Heck, even when it comes to life the Elegance that he presented the way he spoke the way he told things.......he did it in a way that we all could understand. His mind was what I admire it will never be another Kobe Bryant
@@Robss_ I thought you were joking. You actually don't know basketball, well when you look at stats and accomplishments. Kobe beats your boy LeBron you think basketball is a individual sport. If you go by that then yes LeBron is better if you go by it being a team sport. What that means is the star makes other people with less talent way better than they originally were. That's called a Good leader . LeBron is all about self stats. He makes his teammates way worse. No one likes him. You won't find One ex-teammate speaking well of him. Kobe Bryant had a lot of bums on his team. He let them know that he was the leader. He found out what their weaknesses were and their strengths and he changed each individual teammate based on what they needed for the team to succeed. LeBron James and you have no idea of what I just said. Kobe has six rings. LeBron has four three of them. He relied on another Superstars to take the lead in the final moments. if you want To defend LeBron ask him to pay you like he does the rest of the people in the media right now you working for free when others are getting paid to do the same thing you're doing lie for a Billionaire
@HannibalBarca-d8e lebron was always a shoot first guy he just been around longer you keep talking about LeBron James assist why don't you talk about him leading all-time in turnovers he has had way more turnovers than assists think about how many points he threw away with those you just like him I get it it clouds your judgment
86% of KOBE's opponents winning 50+ games is CRAZY!!! Especially when he played in 43 playoff series!!!
@@tankeater beat Houston without Yao or McGrady yet that series still went 7 games. The Suns lead by a near FORTY year old PG on one of the worst defensive teams in the league, the Oklahoma city TODDLERS with young KD, Russ who wasn't even an All Star and Harden who was a ROOKIE! N funny how Melo never went deep in the playoffs his entire career yet made the conference Finals in 09 😆

They were 50 win teams but none of those teams were great... And he was favored in every series he was always on the best team and never won without the home court stop it
Kobe played and won. Thats all that matters to me. I dont like people giving reasons why they lost and why theyre better than previous generation.

And saved Team USA legacy in the off season after that devastating Finals loss in the off season
Too many unfabricated moments to choose from. I guess the Utah airballs. A team with 3 All-Stars didn't have the balls to get them to win against UTAH. But an 18 year old did. That was the beginning of Kobe's legend.
Bro same here!! I was like “oh we winning next year” i was so confident because i could see the hurt on Kobe face

No he wanted to surpass MJ. Desperately. That's what made him great. He looked at the GOAT and said "I am going to surpass him" WHILE HE WAS STILL PLAYING. I don't think he got there. MJ was just that bit better. But he shot for the moon, and landed among the stars.

@JohnWu-xd7tk MJ was better, but Kobe wasn't that far away. If somebody has Kobe as the GOAT, MJ fans will never disrespect that.
@@mike_tkgchsyes it was far away between Jordan and Kobe
As well as LeBron and Kobe
@HannibalBarca-d8e LeBron is better than Kobe and ranks higher all time due to his far superior stats as well as accolades
and more statistically dominant seasons that are really good especially on the advanced stats of things
Kobe didn’t lead the nba at any point in any advanced stat category which shows he was never truly dominant
Kobe Bryant is a top 10 player of all time and you can make a decent argument he’s top 5 but he definitely isn’t top 3
And you cannot put him in the same discussion with MJ LeBron and Kareem.
Simple.
@HannibalBarca-d8e Thank you for actually understanding my point and not turning off your brain and going into a vicious hatred when you saw something positive being noted about LeBron James.
This video brought a tear to my eye… happy Mamba Day y’all… how I miss this guy and the beauty that was the game of basketball when Kobe was on the court!

@@allong9248 🐐? 😆 🤣
Skap. You’re GOATED for this. 🤝🏼
@@infiniteuniverse9528well you ask and you answer yourself so go on champ 😂
I will admit. I was not a Kobe Bryant fan. Still he was among the best players ever. And if anyone was close to Michael Jordan in greatness, it was him. R.I.P Black Mamba
He should definitely be on the Mt. Rushmore of the NBA. He was the next best thing to Jordan, it's criminal how LeBron and Clutch sports have tried to diminish Kobe's career.
How did lebron try to diminish Kobe’s career?💀💀
I shed a tear watching this, thank you Skap

Well said rip the great Kobe Bryant
You can't compare a pandemic ring and an In-Season tournament trophy to a house that Kobe built. Kobe never left LA, he played through the ups and downs of the franchise and also through injuries.
KKKKOOOOOOOOBBBBBEEEEEE!!!!! ❤
Mamba out 😎🤙🏾
I saw the first upload quite a few times and the last bit always makes me emotional 22:23
Kobe was more than an athlete and I don’t know who the GREATEST, best, or most skilled is but I know that he inspired me the most.
yes, he inspires me every day in things even outside of basketball, like my career. He died but lives through that impact on others which is what makes me tear up
Shoutout to the mamba 💜 💛
The only one comparable to mj imo
The only ppl I see disrespecting his legacy is lebron fans.
I don’t even see spurs, phili, nuggets or even Celtics fans hate on him like they do.
#lakersforlife
Beautifully done. I was a sophomore in high school when he went to the league. I was jealous, and I didn't like him quite frankly. Until I saw him play. KG and Bean were my favorite players. I didn't like Gasol I thought he was a waste and could have found someone better but he made it work. Those Celtics Lakers finals were probably the most hype rewarding series I've seen since. Hopefully the Olympics will get the NBA trending and LeBron retiring back to the way things were.

It's always hard for me to make a GOAT case for Kobe, cause him being so similar to Jordan in many aspects offers the opportunity for direct comparisons. With that being said, Kobe is top 3 all times, in my opinion also behind Kareem purely for personal accolades. Any all times list with Kobe out of the top 5 doesn't even deserve to be remotely discussed.

"Honoring the LEGEND of Kobe Bryant on MAMBA DAY 8/24" Probably the best tribute and certainly one of the best statistical breakdowns. UA-cam this is your template on how to do it.
Kobe Bryant was the last Alphamale and truly will be missed
Leading by example. Sadly, is rare to see nowadays.
Saying he not the goat is one thing but when people try to say hes not top 10 is legit trolling
Some current players have Paul George as the GoaT. Without trolling. Some have Paul Pierce. Leaving Kobe outside the top-10 all time isn't necessarily trolling.
The second greatest SG in history, an underrated defender, a man who NEVER gave up, constantly tried to be the best ever, and stayed 20 years with a franchise that whilst historically great, didnt always have the most success, especially in his prime, and still managed to be a second or first option on five championship runs, whilst dealing with the greatest PF ever, coached by the greatest coach ever (Pop is that good, in my opinion)? Yeah, this guy is top 10 for my money.
i cant believe there are so many popular lists that have him as fringe top 10. hes definitively better than kareem and magic
Thank you Skap for putting things in perspective. I'm a new basketball fan. And Kobe's story sounds the most impressive. Alongside Michael Jordan.

Kobe Bryant is a top 5-10 all time player.
LeBron James is more like top 25-50, somewhere in there.
This what Kobe fans do all the time they can never just praise Kobe they just wanna mention Lebron all the time
i don't get why so many of the comments praising kobe have to also be lebron haters. why is it that liking one of these players means you hate the other? it's so strange
Are y’all so insecure that you feel the need to discredit lebron, in order to make Kobe look better? Corny
You may not like him, but Lebron is definitely better than Kobe and his accomplishments prove it.
@@Robss_you may be too young to see what actual basketball players looked like on the court I'll let that be your excuse
@@pushthebutton8723 so you have nostalgia I get it, your argument is purely subjective, but stats and accomplishments tell another story 😭🙏
