gen Z fashion is much has variety with the internet and the uprising of “cores” or athestics helped. honestly it’s a lot like “fuck you i’m doing this” and almost anti fashion. it’s more like “this is so ugly it cute”
Gen z follow just as many trends as any other generation out there. And with social media they tend to care more about what others think of them. Are there gen z people that really dress outside of the box? Absolutely. But the generation itself only cares about looking good on social media so they go with whatever is popular. They are really not as revolutionary as they like to think they are
love the theoretical antiestablishment mindset of this aesthetic but it’s not accessible “it’s so ugly it’s cute” uprisings are my jam, but I wish it involved more universally flattering stuff. A lot of it is uncomfy textures/fabrics, or unflattering on anybody, or uncomfortable silhouettes on average people. It’s natural to want to look nice to yourself when you look at yourself. going so far esoteric that fashion school zoomers at Pratt or polymoda are wearing neckbeard dragon shirts… I believe a line should be drawn 😅
@Death Omen It all seems more like the absolute embrace of capitalism over any sort of "anti" rhetoric. If everyone is their own brand, that's just further commodification of the self. Your "own style" is just another marketing trend. They are buying and consuming as much or more than ever regardless of buying into corporately generated trends. Which are, again, based off their existing purchasing trends. It's cool though. Love the creativity.
Yeah, I'm not a super fashionable person, so idk if this is right but it's how I view it; There's a big mix of extremes. I love the strong anti-capitalist stuff, working with older styles because they're second hand stuff, but a lot of the luxury brands took the kinda ugly looks that only worked because You knew they came with good intentions, and tried to emulate it, and it's just ruined a lot of it for me. Price and source of clothing has never really been treated the way it is now.
@@ricmont_6 Please tell me that these proposed outfits are ridiculous in your eyes as well, they are actually crazy like Kwesi says. And mostly poor-fitting, does no-one appreciate a properly fitting garment? This video blew my mind and not in a good way lmao
Slightly unrelated maybe, but I LOVE how in this community saying that somebody looks like a lesbian/gay/soft/anything at all, is never taken as an insult, not for even a split second, we need that energy
Okay, but Keith pre-makeover looks like a vacation dad and post-makeover looks like a dad trying to dress cool. What I'm saying is that both of those outfits are Daddy's Favorite
Oh god whyyyy, its fkn uglyyyy. Srsly I hate my fkn generation🤦🏼. Dress in clothes that look good and makes you look masculine if you’re a man and clothes that make you look feminine if you’re a woman. Dress so that the oposite gender is attracted to you and that you feel cool. Not like some fkn clown🤦🏼
I feel like all the items had potential, but none of them were executed well. Ned's look was probably the best put together, but the buttoning of the shirt just makes it look like he's desperately trying to wear a shirt that he knows is too small. Also, the harness belt on Kwesi is not placed well, it should be placed from the waist or up, not under the stomach as it just looks like a bowl for his stomach to sit in which isn't flattering on anyone. Keith looks like the slightly creepy uncle that's still trying to be hip; and I don't even know where to start with Zach, it just looks like he rolled around in a lost and found box and went with whatever stayed on him. This is definitely the type of video where you don't want to bring in a stylist unless the stylist already is a part of that generation. It would be really fun to see this video get redone with actual gen Z-ers styling the guys because the results would likely be completely different.
Yeah, I hate literally all of these looks and I feel embarrassed for the Guys. The guy who did their looks in the video where they got stylized by highschool girls was amazing and the Guys are def missing him.
tbh i feel like the stylist put too many eye catching pieces together, and zach’s normal style is already pretty close to a bunch of gen z styles, and so was keith’s original outfit, his was just more professional than most gen z. i love garish clothing, but i’d put at most 2 pieces of garish clothing together. the stylist got the right clothes, wrong vibe, and she did a little too much, but i’d wear most parts of those outfits, just not together
Exactly! Neds was the closest to my style but that top was the only thing I wouldn't wear, and maybe also the bag. Apart from that I basically own the whole outfit except my shoes are in silver.

can we get a remake? idk maybe have Jamie and his friends come in and style them instead, personally I feel like I would've leaned into Kwesi's all black clothing look and given him more of a grundge alt type style, maybe like, the kinda flannel pants? but the ones that are like, red plaid on one side and black on the other, doc martens, something oversized on top, then lots of chains
I love how every time someone puts Ned into different clothes, he instantly turns himself into the most insufferable person in the room. Like hell yeah, cause problems on purpose, king.

@@dutchik5107 I disagree! I’m from a rural town but I still went for looks in my fashion sense even though I was one of the only ones not in a hoodie and jeans. But growing up rural still informed my sense of style in a way that would be very different if I were from the city I live in now

I think Gen Z brings back a lot of fashion that used to be considered ugly, stuff that was popular in the 80s and 90s that today's Millennials would say is ugly. It's about comfort and confidence, basically wear whatever you want. Not every Gen Z is a TikTok e-boy.
honestly, as a gen-z er, i've never seen anyone who dresses like this (not even on tiktok)... i feel like the stylist could have been more mindful of the viewers suggestions and they all would've looked great! it was just a bit too much, in my opinion. The closer to gen-z fashion was, unexpectedly, Keith with his grandpa-core fit lmao bc i could see the tyler the creator inspo
i don’t think it’s pretentious as long as they enjoy it. also I think most young people finding their style are gonna do some generically trendy stuff that don’t always stick when they grow up & that’s ok (as long as you’re not overconsuming & doing shein hauls 24/7 yk?). as a gen z person myself I admittedly still like & wear skinny jeans but if I saw someone walking down the street with a bucket hat & sweater vest & tiny cow print bag I’d think they’re cool. I’d wear a sweater vest too if I had one & it wasn’t so hot all the time. basically if ‘whatever u wanna wear’ is genuinely whatever trendy stuff is in this vid & you intend on buying stuff to wear many times instead of throwing it out after 1 or 2 wears then you do you sorry this comment is so long 😖
you realize thats every generation right? most people dress far more casually but the people who care more and are more tapped into fashion/current trends put more work into it. You don't have to put a disclaimer up for gen z lol.
@@percabethisawesome1163 and i agree with you - its just as pretentious to stick your nose up at people who enjoy fashion as it is if a fashionable person mocked those who are more casual. Everyone, teens especially, try things out and get sucked into the new trends to see if they enjoy it. Its nothing to be ashamed about/brag about entering into or keeping away from
I'm a gen Z person, and depending on how I'm feeling that day, I dress either like Frodo Baggins,Tintin, Baby Houseman, Claire Standish, a child in a Ghibli movie or a 13 year old boy in a 90s film. I do not dress like I woke up in a panic and threw on the first things I could find in my geriatric neighbour's wardrobe.
He's great, but I'm a little worried they're trailing him to replace Eugene- which no problem if Eugene wants to step back or Kwesi wants to step up, but having the only POC replaced by another POC feels a bit token to me. I don't want that to be the case because I really like the Try Guys, but it's the feeling I'm getting.
@@dexa6623 I totally understand that. But I feel like another option if Eugene were to step back would be Miles but that would be pretty much white-washing the Try Guys. I think maybe this is temporary since Eugene has been caught up with a lot of other work like attending the Met recently but it's definitely something to consider. I definitely think Kwesi really fits in with the overall energy though if he were to become an official Try Guy, whether or not it's filling in for Eugene or becoming a new addition.
@@can_O_beans I don't see why the Try Guys have to only be 4 guys too. Why not add Kwesi and Miles being added with the rest of the crew. Add the Food Babies and make "guys" be more androgynous or change it to the Try Squad. I really enjoy videos that include more of the Try Staff because they all have great personalities in their own ways. As a gen Z, our fashion is simply "I do not care how anyone else thinks I look anymore, I will simply wear whatever is comfy and/or fuels my god complex"
I really wish for a fashion video, they would get Gen Z’ers who are actually willing to work within the guys styles! So like, instead of always dressing Ned up in a grunge look, we could get Ned in the newest version of… well, him!
I understand why they go with drastically different styles and looks for the sake of a visual transformation and content, but I just think it’d be cool to see them feeling like themselves, just enhanced
I think it’s important to realize that Gen Z is age 6 - 24. So the way that we dress varies greatly!! Gen Z fashion is whatever you want it to be. That’s the point. Dress how you want = Gen Z fashion.
For gen z fashion it’s literately alright I’ll dive into this pile of clothes and put an outfit on. There’s a lot of different styles from punk rock and goth to 70’s hipster bright and colorful looks. Some of the outfits like maybe Kwesis and Ned’s had potential but wasn’t put together that well. As a gen z I agree with the comments Zacks before outfit was the most accurate to gen z fashion :)
im saying, his gen z outfit would be way better and more put together if you just trade those awful pants for black skinny jeans. boom- 2009 emo pop punk band lmaooooo
“Grandpa-core” was SUCH and accurate description of what they were all wearing. Just take away a few accessories and I could see a grandpa wearing versions of all those outfits.
I'm a millennial but what I LOVE about Gen Z fashion, especially for girls and women, that it's not about accentuating your legs or your hips etc. It's about comfort and bagginess and just feeling good. Sure there's still prejudice and social pressure to look good but I'm happy skinny jeans aren't in anymore. Give me the comfy, the baggy, the oversized. It's not about looking conventionally sexy but sexy from within. And mixing genders. I. LOVE. IT.

This isn't gen z- Like at least get a stylist that is actually gen z, you wouldn't want baby boomers trying to style someone into a millennial look-. On top of that, gen z is very open, especially with fashion, they should do one where multiple people style them. And I'm not talking 4 people with completely different styles, I'm talking about literally going around and asking if people are gen z and just randomly choosing actual average gen z people to style them. Not throwing any hate at the stylist, this just isn't their thing. I would love to see this refilmed differently!
@@MissCaraMint no the people in the videos gave good pointers, but the person styling them didn't style them the way the gen-z's in the videos said at all.

Millennials want to look put together with hints and snippets of their personality thrown in. Gen z wants their clothes to be an outward expression of their personality and tbh, I’m here for it. Though, I do think you can enjoy skinny jeans and a cow-print bag in the same fit.
I agree with everyone here, I absolutely love you guys, but I think letting Gen-Z’s dress you would have been more accurate. The only thing I ever wear is oversized shirts or sweatshirts, baggy pants and/or jeans, and sneakers. That’s about it :)
This is giving very Instagram only outfits and not normal everyday Gen Z fashion. While it’s creative and somewhat stylish, I don’t feel these are accurate representations of Gen Z’s fashion
The way I view it is that the guys' outfits represent an idealized version of (selected) Gen Z fashion trends/movement. They're not what the avarage Gen Z person wears in their day to day life (because A) most people can't afford to go fashion over comfort in their schedule and B) they are still in school/university or have only recently started working so the normal Gen Z kid can't afford a wardrobe full of their ideal taste) but rather what they like seeing in the current fashion world and what they'd like to be able to wear. So these outfits are what they would like to put together if they had the means to do so and without any practicality resctrictions. (And of course even within Gen Z this is more focused on alternative fashion movements for the sake of making the video entertaining)
Finally somebody is being honest about it! They couldn't provide examples of people actually dressing like that for anything other than a pic or a crazy event cause they just aren't. They styled the guys based on wishful thinking, not reality. I cannot wait until somebody does a gen z reacts video about this.
I wish there were a few more black and brown Gen Z style reps because black and latino 90s-2000s style revival has been a huge part of Gen Z trends, and are the ppl doing a lot of the trendsetting and innovation.
This is a video I would watch. Like I'd love to see the history of this fashion since I know that so much of what is in is influenced by KPop and thus the black and latino hip hop cultures they appropriate.

love the theoretical antiestablishment mindset of this aesthetic but it’s not accessible
“it’s so ugly it’s cute” uprisings are my jam, but I wish it involved more universally flattering stuff.
I love it. Gen Z has bested us all. I'm super proud of them.
Yeah, I'm not a super fashionable person, so idk if this is right but it's how I view it;
There's a big mix of extremes.

He's great, but I'm a little worried they're trailing him to replace Eugene- which no problem if Eugene wants to step back or Kwesi wants to step up, but having the only POC replaced by another POC feels a bit token to me.
This isn't gen z-
Like at least get a stylist that is actually gen z, you wouldn't want baby boomers trying to style someone into a millennial look-.
Exactly
Those are actual gen zs doing the styling though.

Yeah no fr, like I don't even OWN shit like that
The way I view it is that the guys' outfits represent an idealized version of (selected) Gen Z fashion trends/movement.
I think they would have looked at Eugene’s style and say; “Carry on…carry on.”
That's basically what happens whenever he does anything 😅😂
The colour palette for Zach's look is almost identical to what he was wearing that day.
I bet Olivia rodrigo doesn't follow him anymore
I wish there were a few more black and brown Gen Z style reps because black and latino 90s-2000s style revival has been a huge part of Gen Z trends, and are the ppl doing a lot of the trendsetting and innovation.
factssss
Ysssss, I was thinking about this too
This is a video I would watch. Like I'd love to see the history of this fashion since I know that so much of what is in is influenced by KPop and thus the black and latino hip hop cultures they appropriate.
YEP
Honestly anyone can dress whatever. THAT is the good thing about today's fashion.
except skinny jeans!
@@maxikingsonice3933 it's acceptable if they're ripped tho and black
@@oplatona__6361 😂 ok I see. Thank you. I feel old.
@@oplatona__6361 As a short, curvy girl who finally found jeans that i’m happy with, you’re only taking my non-ripped, non-black skinny jeans from my cold, dead hands 😌
@@maxikingsonice3933 they are literally fine you just need to know how to style them
I like neds more alt leaning look. All the black and piercings, and the grid pants
i loved the look but the shirt didn`t really match the rest they should have put him in a black ish/silvery blouse instead of this patterned mess
It's honestly one step away from trip pants
Drop the horrendous bag, exchange the shirt for a solid silver or black type blouse and he'd look great. I think I really loved the pants and those boots he was wearing. The overcoat thing I could do without, but I'd like to see it with a silver shirt instead of that patterned thing he had on.
Thats actually called emo!
I'm not saying I'm disappointed, I'm just saying that when Ned said Olivia Rodrigo follows him, they *all* missed a golden opportunity to say "good for you."
as someone that is part of gen z, my only reaction/response was “no.”
So we all agree? The Try Guys have adopted Kwesi.
Yes it's so cute. Fifth Try Guy
yes I love kwesi
@@HaifaaAmni I'm so down for that. His energy fits in so well with the rest of them.
the fifth try guy we've always needed
They did say they wanted the fifth Try Guy to be a black man lol
Kwesi looks like a super rich uncle that no one ever sees but everyone loves
Anyone else loving Kwesi in this video? I hope they bring him back for more episodes because I really enjoyed his vibe and humour! ❤️
