    In this video I unbox and perform some initial setup of the Inovato Quadra, to run Ham Clock software.
    Below is a list of some DX cluster hosts I have found to be stable:
    port: 7300
    host: mayodx.ath.cx
    login:
    port: 7300
    host: g6nhu.getmyip.com

    port: 7300

    Note: G6NHU created a new node (below) that is optimized for Ham Clock version 3.03 or newer. Click this link for more info: qso365.co.uk/g...
    port: 7300
    host: dxspider.co.uk

    The Inovato Quadra computer bundle comes with Ham Clock software installed, plus other Ham Radio related software. It is available from: www.inovato.com
    Note: I contacted the seller to ask why I see two cursor arrows. I see the small black cursor (from the Quadra OS) and the large red cursor (Ham Clock). I also asked how to properly shutdown the Quadra while Ham Clock is running. I long-pressed the lock symbol, next to the time display at the upper left of the Ham Clock software. After a few seconds, I released the mouse button. A menu of options appeared. I clicked to shutdown the host and I clicked Yes to confirm. Nothing happened. I contacted the seller and his answers were as follows: “The quick answer is that is normal. The OS shuts down so nothing will get corrupted, but it won't actually shut the power off. For that, you would need to disconnect power. The answer to your two cursors question is also in the forum. It is due to hamclock being written for an ESP8266 being run through an emulation layer in Linux. HamClock creates it's own red cursor and the Linux cursor isn't always turned off. There is no known fix that I have found. It doesn't bother most people who see it.”
    The HF Clock (also shown in this video), is available at: www.veritiumhfclock.com.
    If you only want the software, it is called Ham Clock. It is a free download. Here is a link that shows how to install it on a PC: w4cae.com/wait...

    Once you set it up, if the upper blocks are blank or show an error message, let the machine run for a while and they should populate.

    Got one an about a week ago and love it. Do you do any filtering in your dx cluster with the spider commands? If so that would be a nice follow up video. I’ve been trying to play with them but not quite sure I have it all figured out. Thanks again for all your amazing videos.

    • @n4hnhradio
      @n4hnhradio  9 місяців тому +1

      I do use spider filters. I think I covered that in the HF Clock videos. HF Clock runs Ham Clock software. I covered the spider settings in this video: ua-cam.com/video/8Z1sjtyFpJQ/v-deo.htmlsi=ITeIcdm6kUq2vblG
      I’ve found several DX Clusters that work. I listed a couple in the video description. The optional spider commands I show in the video at the link above are from the Ham Clock instruction guide. rej/spot call k,w,n rejects U.S. callsigns. It isn’t 100% effective. But rej/spot freq 1800/2000 does seem to reject spots for the 160m band.

    • @n4hnhradio
      @n4hnhradio  9 місяців тому +1

      I also tried rej/spot on hf/data, to reject digital mode spots, but some still appear. I’m not too impressed with the spider command reliability.

    Hi Doug,
    Did you setup the WiFi so the DX Cluster will populate? I also ordered the upgrade kit with the 5.2G WiFi and BT. I used a computer wireless keyboard and mouse. I found that enclosed keyboard almost worthless. Happy Holiday Season. 73 WJ3U

    I just picked up one of these last week and I think it's great. I'm joining the ARCCC and heard that you are in to POTA. That seems like it could be fun to try. Are you planning any excersions?

      Contact Inovato with a warranty claim. Mine has been perfect except for the defective HDMI cable. Mine doesn’t overheat, even without the fan attached. My remote is rechargeable. Maybe they switched to a battery version. I would actually prefer a battery version.

      I will. If you watch enough of the videos in the Radio Wave Propagation playlist, you will know your way around Ham Clock. There is another video coming in the next couple of weeks about coordinating the color scheme of the spot list to match the MUF map colors. This is a good week to watch the Ham Clock. I just alerted my Patreon members about an M-class flare that erupted today. It could affect us later this week.
