Concentricity of the features is not an issue for this part, so this is an excellent way to do this. It's just a fitting that needs to fit and not look bad. You succeeded.
Which ever way works for you is the right way. I’m left handed so I almost never do things the right way.
You also stay safe and extremely healthy.
