Hi I'm a test engineer for hq for Daikin Europe in Belgium. I've been following your videos already for a while. Good to see issue in real life situations and not only in perfect test room conditions. We will have in mind all your problems you faced, to avoid in the future.
Thanks for watching Stijn 🙌🏼 Yes, always nice to see issues in real life conditions ! That sounds good 👌🏼 Appreciate manufacturer’s who listen to engineers feedback and experiences with kit and improve where ever possible 👍🏼👍🏼
Got a magnetic dish after seeing one of your videos no more casing screws down between grills ! Great video never seen that cooling application for a board before
I had exactly the same problem at a leisure centre in Southam. All 3 condenser pcbs gone in very new units not long ago installed. Daikon supplied and fitted all 3 unfer warranty, no auestions asked.
I've had the same thing happen to me, eight split units (R32). All of them went into u4 fault after about eighteen months of being installed. I'm gradually working my way through the pcb's and replacing the suspect capacitors.
@@hvacuk8975 No...apparently the company that installed the units are no longer going. We're still in talks with Daikin where we stand with the problem, but from what I understand it could cause them a bit of a problem as Daikin have sold thousands of these systems. I think they've got a few dedicated field engineers that purely travel around just replacing those capacitors. I ordered about a dozen of those capacitors (kept a few as spare)and just soldered the last one in. Some units did not show a u4 fault but i was not getting any reading's back from the OU thermistors on the wall mounted controller .....which apparently Daikin said is another sign that the capacitor is faulty. Great channel by the way 😊👍
I also have the same problem here with the suspended type split unit R32. From all 12 units RZF125CVM4 installed, 11 have U4 fault some after one year, and the rest after 2 years. Looking to the one of the outdoor PCB, the blue capacitors 0.47 uF have lower values. I think Daikin need to recall the PCB units from customer to replace those capacitors.
Bring back simple contactors with simple controls please, this week replaced 3 LG inverter boards shorted out by geckos , had 2 Daikin boards with U4 and 2 Samsung boards. The money saved in power consumption is spend on pcbs when they go
I have a 35 year carrier unit and the only thing I have replaced on that is a reversing valve coil. I upgraded the Thermostat to a universal electronic controller just on 20 years ago and it has never missed a beat yet I installed a Daikin 3.5 Kw split 2 months ago and the Outdoor board is faulty and being replaced under warranty..
Too right, where is the sense in replacement boards costing £800. Sure there must be a particular component that fails that can be repaired or replaced by anyone with good soldering and disordering skills and little knowledge in electronics..
Have probably had three of four R32 ‘Advanced’ OU showing this u4 fault after just a few months, narrowed it down to OU PCB and replaced under warranty but didn’t know it was a known issue. Bit frustrating especially the ones that aren’t local but replacements sent quickly. Import duty charged on the latest warranty PCB but again Daikin sorted that quickly. miss matched units there must be a legit high sensible combination.
I find it alot easier to change the board itself rather than the metal back plate aswell. 10 minute job. Have done 10-15 so far. Little heads up aswell, panasonic have a similar issue on their R32 100 units inverter boards, throws a PH29 . 👍
I did plan on doing the board only but couldn’t get my hands behind to unplug everything off the noise filter ! After speaking to some others it seems a lot of the other models don’t have the noise filter on the back so you can just swap the board without taking the frame off but on this model it was hard wired from the main PCB to plugs on the noise filter behind so had to take it off to get to it 👍🏼👍🏼 Got fat sausage fingers 😅 I haven’t heard of the Panasonic issue ! Nice one mate I’ll keep an eye out for it 👍🏼👍🏼
@@hvacuk8975 yep one of the plugs can be a bit of a pain on the noise filter, bottom left when looking from above. That's the only issue I've found. Definitely need a syringe for the heat sync too. Makes life so much easier.
@@setvencarter2752 yeah, the fault leads you to think the comp is locked. Inv output is rubbish on them aswell I've found. Can't 100% say if good or not. Will give power for a split second then nothing.

3 years on from your video and we're still changing boards. Out of all the condensors I've worked on over 20+ years, the Skyairs are the worst. Did one today. I find it easier to loosen the frames fixings to allow unplugging from the filter board and then swap the board off the frame. Takes about 20 mins. Still a shocking poor design decision from Daikin.
@@hvacuk8975 I have the same problem as you describe in your movie and the same motherboard. Can you tell exactly which capacitor or capacitors I need to replace?
Hey mate, I've only been in the trade a little over a year but will be doing my cat1 soon, learning alot on the job but after finding your channel a few days ago I've been learning loads. Keep it up mate you're motivating younger engineers like myself 👍🏻 PS - need an apprentice? 😂😂
The last main pcb I replaced under warranty the new pcb wouldn't engage the coil for the 4 way valve. Took a lot of convincing to get daikin to send another. Also how bad is it the way they send the heat sink.🤣🤣
Did I spot the supco umbrella at the end there? If so where did you get that from? Been making do with a homemade version of a magnet and sportsworld umbrella for a while 😂💪🏻

Faulty capacitor on the Main PCB comms circuit which drops the comms voltage causing a U4 error 👍🏼👍🏼
