Here's is something very important I want you to know.
Our culture (modernized culture, mostly Western culture) trains us to be disconnected from our bodies. Our culture trains us to view our bodies as external objects as an outside observer. Our culture trains to look to outside experts to fix us, fix our body issues but doesn't train us to connect with our own body, own sensory experience, "listen" to our body, feel our body, and learn from our inner intelligence.
This is cultural influence on our beliefs influences our behaviors. Many people believe that they need more information in order to overcome their limitations and challenges. Many believe that they just haven't found the "right" information yet so keep seeking outside for their answer. Reality is that we have too much information, and we are so disconnected from our own body and experience.
It's easy to view my videos as another exercise video, and approach it from that mindset, that is to approach your body like fixing mechanical parts that lie external to you. Then, you are really missing the point. This is not a conventional way of thinking in Western culture, so it's easy to let my message pass through you. But, don't worry! I am persistent and will repeat over and over and over:) I'm not here to teach you exercises to correct your body structures. I am here to help you connect with YOUR BODY, YOUR SENSORY EXPERIENCE, learn from YOUR BODY, and create a new way of movng, using yourself, being in your body!
This paradigm shift is necessary for transformation, changes in your nervous system, movement patterns, quality of life because your body and mind are one! I really encourage you to keep this message in your mind as you watch my videos and practice movement!

Thank you so much for your comment! For movement practice to be effective, movement/exercise does not have to be complicated. In fact, most of time movement/exercise can be quite simple. More importantly we need to learn how to pay attention to our own body and movement patterns. Attention and mindfulness are more important to improve our functions.

Yesterday ,I did other exercises, from your posture video. I also watched your sleeping position video and last night I noticed, I was doing the rounded posture in my sleep too. I corrected my sleep position last night. Today I noticed that when I am sitting or standing my posture looks better, even my son said to me, “mum you are sitting straight today.” I hope I will be able to correct the small hump on my neck.
This video was spot on too. I was exercising during the whole video and tension has definitely decreased. I think all these problems start from a common cause. Your insight is unique, Thank you.

I'm a classical musician, and this is incredible useful information!! I have done a lot of different stretches and similar, some good, but they're not always useful because they work well if you have some momentarily really painful tight areas, but when you're not really feeling much tension, but still need to go a little bit further to become really soft, stretches doesn't do it anymore. My goal is to not feel the need for much stretching, and this seems way more optimal. Really looking forward to seeing more of your videos

Yes! For a long time I’ve had very tight hips and shoulders/neck, and felt it was related but physiotherapists only ever give me stretching exercises for each, separately. But it’s because of long days sat the computer, where the pelvis/hips are rotated backwards, which as you naturally then rounds the shoulders, causing chronic holding tension. Now I’m much more aware of that full pattern. Life-changing, thank you.

I just came out of my garden and the moment I sat down my scms stiffened. This helped ward of some of the severity of the stiffness. Since this is the second video that has helped me, you've earned a suscriber. I am looking into myofacial massage because I do believe it plus these kinds of techniques helped a frozen shoulder be unfrozen. I think something in my fascia is kinked. That is my untrained theory and suspicion. I have fixed a lot of issues in my lower body , but my upper body is still a mess. Tinnitus, TMJ, the works. Not as bad as it was a year ago though. Interesting thing I pinpointed, and maybe this will help someone, is that my tinnitus is 100% my neck muscles being out of wack. The scms in particular are the worst culprits.

this often relates to head-chest-pelvis organization. When thoracic spine flexes (mid back rounds), neck and head follows and the head moves forward relative to chest, which causes neck muscles to react.

So it seems like I tense all of my neck muscles at once. At the point where I should feel relaxation of the neck muscle, I feel a strong pull on that tight muscle as it seems to resist relaxation. You're welcome! Just for clarification, the purpose of this exercise is to help people become aware of their habitual posture and movement patterns that are associated with more strain and effort in the area and to retrain their movement patterns in order to reduce streain and effort during day to day activities. It's really about developing more body awareness and movement control. The movement pattern that increases strain, discomfort in neck and shoulder during this exercise is very likely what you habitually do during daily activities so you want to recognize such pattern and retrain out of that pattern.

Now there’s more, and God Knows there’s painful tension building up on shoulders and neck while driving, and the feeling of exhaustion following when really all the body did was sit and drive! Oh well, thanks again. m

Thank you so much! It's very effective for me as it has released and eased my pain immediately. I have carried pain in my neck and shoulders for a long time. In the middle of pain I forget what I need to do to ease the discomfort. I think I will place a reminder calendar appointment to do this twice a day until it becomes a part of my day. You are AMAZING!

I liked this video a lot. My neck always has pain and I never realized how my posture and how I hold my shoulders and elbow ware so important to be aware of. I’m 63 and it was time for some rewording.

Thanks Taro for this video. There's so much evidence now that movement can be an effective way to reverse not just pain but also metabolic disorders. It will be wonderful if more doctors prescribe movement or people come to movement specialists such as your self 1st! Thanks again for the wonderful exercises!

My pleasure! I 100% agree that it will be wonderful if more doctors prescribe movement to their patients. That would keep people from developing unnecessary illnesses and injuries and spending less money on medications, and would keep doctors from prescribing unnecessary medications, so would reduce overall medical costs over years. More money should be invested in movement and early intervention and education.

Glad to hear it! Yes, small movement can make a big difference! It's not about how far, how fast you move (quantity). It's more about how you move (quality). Changing how you move requires the brain's attention, thus slow and small movement are very helpful for changing movement patterns.

Have gone to multiple massage therapists and none are able to get my knots fully out. This eased my neck and shoulder pain alot. Thank you so much. God bless!
