There's nothing like being a beginner drummer and learning your first funk song on the drums. In this beginner drum lesson I break down what I consider to be some easy funk songs on the drums. It's a fantastic first drum lesson to help you master your first funk drumming songs on the drums as a beginner drummer or to just learn some new songs and have fun for more experienced drummers.

Im a super noob. I did a fun drumcover of Bad Mama Jama. Of course I dont try and do beat for beat. I just have fun with it. BUT its a good fun song to just freestyle too also.

No Parliament? 😉 These are some fun grooves to play, and focus on mastering focusing on playing the simplicity extremely well
Had SO much Parliament on the short list. However, a lot of their songs are a little more nuanced than they appear on first listen. So, that's why I didn't include. One of my all time fav funk bands "But can you imagine Doobie in your funk?! WHOA!"
You could add The Bar-Kays to that list as well.

Nice lesson but surely Larry Blackmon was the singer (not drummer) for Cameo😊
You know...I honestly don't know. He did drum some. Then there's the discussion of how much drumming in Cameo's repertoire was programmed (that was new at the time). So, I'm unsure lol. But that was as close as I could get

Blackmon was the drummer probably on the very common Simmons electronic drums of the era.
You're a great drummer and I've been watching your videos for a long time but that snare sounds like a tin can... just a minor nitpick.
Lol, she's a little ringy in this vid. It's a new (to me) snare that I'm still dialing in. I like some ring on my snare but it's a little strong here. Killer snare...Ludwig super brass
