like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

Pretty much use all devices mentioned and in same way. Love the Routines in Alexa app. Turning on Geysers in winters is a life saver 🙂

i feel that the smart combo of echo dot 3rd gen echo flex and wipro smart bulb during sales is better than the echo dot 4th gen alone. so i can now drop in from one echo to the other. i have smart bulbs and i can control them as well!

The problem with Smart Bulbs is, if there is powercut, when power resumes , the bulb turns On, It becomes a major issue if you turn off the bulb using voice before sleep & power goes at 2AM & when it comes back the bulb is On ruining your sleep, so for me it didn't fulfil my purpose to place in bedroom to turn off before sleep after reading a book.
There are bulbs that has memory. They wont turn on during power outage

I would suggest my single friends for Alexa setup, Alexa I am home and it will say, welcome honey, how was your day? ..:D :D
If anyone has a older switch box, my smart room setup may give you some ideas. So I use sonoff smart plug which I ordered for around 700-1 plug. So I ordered 4 of them for my two lights and two fans, and in the switchboard connected the swith between the main wire and switchboard switch. I paired it with the sonoff app and then fixed it in the wire box(remember for older one) and fixed the switchboard again. This way my plug was too hidden and by pairing it with alexa I could use it smartly like smart lights and fans.....
Hope you could consider this way for your home setup.
I use smart plugs, have smart switches, don't have a smart tv, but with roku can control de TV... And routines with alexa or Google Assistant it's really cool, I don't wait to get home to get everything going, when I'm driving just say to Assistant that I will be arriving home.. and turns the lights from the living room, heater... And the front lights turn on at sunset, and turns off at sunrise...

If I keep the switches for fans and lights on for 24 hours a day and very frequently give voice commands for turning on and off the fans and lights by voice command via Alexa or Google Assistant, will there be more electricity consumption and increase in electric bill amount?

@Beebom: The video is good to start into home automation but using options like smart things, hubitat, IFTTT and such hubs and services increases the limit of home automation is endless. Try to make a video on the same for Indian users if possible.
