Wowzers! This conversation was so valuable. Not just for turners. The warmth, wisdom and experience that David shares is a valuable resource for ALL craftsmen
I have heard your name several times through the years but I thought it was a company that made wood working tools. I never thought of you turning the wood. I am a 73 year old beginner wood turner. One day I will own your tools but for now I appreciate watching wood turners comment on using your tools. Happy Turning.

An outstanding video!! David Ellsworth is a GREAT teacher. I have his tool and he is right, A person hardly needs any other tool to turn bowls.
What tool!!?!!
@@stevenmcdaniel1797 Did you watch his video? The tool is a 5/8" Ellsworth gouge, sometimes referred to as an Irish grind or a swept back grind.
I use a 40/40 almost exclusively. It misses the long wings for shear scraping.
Great information thank you
Thank you Mr. Ellsworth! Just purchased your book as well! Cheers
Priceless
Masterfully done.
I wished the camera work was better, hard to see what he was doing most of the time. Great information just the same. Thanks
