- Guns N' Roses Axel Rose interview on Japanese TV December 1987, Axl is interviewed back stage at the UTC Arena, Chattanooga, Tennessee, November 21st 1987. There were a few promos during this broadcast, nothing rare, all edited out, not even one second of the interview is missing, its all here. I got this on NTSC Betamax from a friend in Japan in 1988, I had the tape converted to PAL VHS and this version you see is taken from the PAL VHS version.

He had the most beautifully shaped face I've ever seen. Gorgeous eyes, checks, nose and lips. Just beautiful. Sexy, sexy speaking voice as an added bonus. These guys were my teenage years in the 80's. Saw it all unfold for them. Greatest time ever, the 80's and 90's. Proud teenager of that era.

Axl's actually the most disciplined and well behaved one among his band members, he's the least addicted to drugs and writes most if not all of the band's songs ...

Axl was very serious about making it as a band and a musician. The other guys are and were very good at what they do, but clearly didn't take the business side of things as seriously as Axl did. One of them had to, one of them had to stay sober, one of them had to play the bad guy, it was Axl. It paid off, if only for a short period of time back then. But- that short time solidified them forever. Greatest hard rock band ever if you ask me. So glad Axl, Slash and Duff are back together.

So cool when he talks about Rose Tattoo at 2:13 and seeing them live, he sounded just like any fan in an audience, not like this big rock star, I found that interesting.

Rose Tattoo was the first album/cassette I ever bought in the early 1980s and I still listen the their great music today... their album “Southern Stars” should be brought out again now, because a lot of songs on it are fit for today’s world, it will inspire people to stand up against the evil the worlds government are putting on us now.

What an awesome video of my favorite band. I can't stop watching it. I grew up listening to Axl & Slash interviews. Both have the 2 most soothing voices ever and are so intelligent and well spoken. I can never get enough of listening to these 2 voices!

This interview was just 10 days after I saw them on 11/11 in Charlotte opening for Motley Crue on the Girls Girls Girls tour. Nobody had heard of them that I knew of, and I walked into the show a Motley Crue fan and left a Guns N Roses fan. They blew every circuit in my teenage brain. They were like cartoon characters onstage, and blew Motley Crue OFF the stage, and it wasn't anywhere near close. They were raw, real, and HUNGRY. True world beaters in the process of beating the world. You never want to say never, but I think it highly unlikely we'll ever see anything like this again.

Perhaps, if you spent a few quiet minutes talking with him, you might feel differently about his personality. I had the pleasure years ago to deal blackjack to him and I wasn't a fan then, but I am certainly one now. He was soft-spoken, upbeat, humble, excited about the album he was working on, and just a great guy. He drank sprite, didn't smoke or cuss, and tipped the cocktail waitress and myself. Before then, all I knew was what VH1 said about him and it wasn't nice. He's so amazing!

Axl, like Jim Morrison, is someone that's talked about only in turms of the crazy or negative side him, ok so he might not be a guy I'd want to spend 2 years cooped up on a tour bus with but as you can see here he's a very sensitive, intelligent and humble guy.

So, if they listened to ACDC, Scorpions, Led Zeppelin, etc constantly, then why were no tracks of them on the Spagetti incident? Never understood that

@@YesterdaysNow you're right, but punk was just one part of their influence. The other and bigger one was Classic Rock.
You have to understand that punk was making a comeback in mainstream music because of alternative at the time Spaghetti Incident came out. 80's heavy metal band's sales were slipping. So it wouldn't be smart at that time for a metal band to release a heavy metal cover album when kids didnt want to hear heavy metal anymore. So GnR's best move at a time when audiences were switching to alternative and punk, was to release cover album that was mostly punk but also other genres.
The cool part is that it wasn't a sell out move considering they really do listen to that music as Axl said in this 1980 something interview....long before anyone could predict alternative music and Nirvana destroying metal sales.
Also, I assume there could possibly be legal issues behind why they didnt do any AC/DC or Zeppelin songs.
But hey, if you want to hear axl sing AC/DC, catch them live next time they come around or find a bootleg!
