I have always wanted to know, and from everything i have read or heard, no one knows this for sure - was he actually born in indiana or florida? was he born in indiana, then moved to florida and lived there for a while and then moved back to indiana? or was he born down in florida and then moved up to indiana later? i ask because i wonder about his voice. sounds a little different than axl's and i wonder if it is the growing up in florida. i'm from georgia and i feel like i hear something a little florida in it. (whatever the case, it turns me on, too!)

@@eastcoastmonkey I THINK he was born in Lafayette, but the family lived for a short time in Florida (when he was little) until his parents split and then he moved with his mom back to Indiana. Then of course, spent his teenage years there. Building that Izzaxl foundation, lol. I’d have to double check with google or Wikipedia, but I think that’s what I remember reading about his childhood before.

@@FrostbiteBaby Yeah, I know Wikipedia says he was born in LaFayette, but I had read in other places where it said they didn't know for sure if it was Florida or LaFayette. I had heard Izzy say I grew up in Florida and then me, my mom and brothers moved to Indiana. I thought maybe that is when his parents divorced too. Not totally sure but seems likely. With Wiki lately, I have seen a lot of mistakes. That is the only reason I wonder about them lately. I was trying to write something the other day and my friend told me to only use wiki for the sources at the bottom and look those up, and that is when I realized how much of their page is not cited right now! I would go in and try to correct it, but man, just takes a lot of time, you know?! I have other projects right now, so can't deal with that, lol. But I have added or corrected a few things in there before. But thanks! (Yeah, I feel horrible saying it on here because I know he's married! But Izzy totally does it for me! She's a lucky woman, ha!)

Really nice interview! There is a very interesting quote on it where Izzy says "I've always loved touring" and that goes against what Axl Rose has been saying for the last 30 years about Izzy. It's good to hear straight from him!

@@ludurigan Thats why GN'R had the biggest selling tour of the year with The Not In This Lifetime Tour huh? They moved into the 2nd Biggest Tour of All Time by ANYONE !! Yes I agree that Izzy was the soul of Guns N' Roses but he did not by no means slow or hinder that bands success in anyway! He and Slash sounded amazing together but I think they lost alot more when they fired Steven Adler bcz he had that certain drum groove a swagger and sound that made Appetite For Destruction so damn brilliant a record! They was nothing better to me than the Original 5 guys that made that record and became huge!! Noone can replace that magic for real but I can't agree with u that it destroyed the band. Axl, God bless him, destroyed Gn'R by becoming a dictator, forcing Duff & Slash to sign over their rights to the name of the band, and by wanting to start a whole a new version of Guns N' Roses and Slash and Duff could sign a contact to stay in the band and pretty much be reduced to hired guns if they wanted ya know? Axl had a vision for the new record, an industrial type direction, and he tried & tried to pull Slash into going that direction but Slash said he wanted to make another simple rock record and finally had all he could take of Axl by 1996 and quit the band. Then Duff, who's pancreas had already exploded and he almost died, left the band in 1998 leaving Axl the last original member of GN'R. I do believe that Axl had alot harder time making a record without Izzy's great songwriting help I've always thought that but in the end he did, FINALLY get Chinese Democracy released in 2008 but that's the only album they've done since Illusion records. As far as touring goes Axl Rose, with a whole new lineup, has managed to keep Guns N' Roses Selling Out Arenas and some Stadiums all over the World every since he returned to Touring almost every year since 2006. He played a few shows in 2001-2002.. after being a recluse for almost 9yrs..one being a Sold Out Show at Madison Square Garden that Sold Out in 10 minutes! Think about that a second. How many bands or artist that u know that could Sell Out any arena with no new album and who has been damn near invisible 9yrs, without any of the other Original Members??? I sure as hell can't think of any. But Axl Rose can and he did and today I just thank God that Duff got those 3 back together and Axl has mellowed out soo much!! They have been kicking ass on tour every since they announced they was back together and gonna play Coachella and then tour they haven't been very many months off the road for them since April 2016, 4yrs pretty much!!! Damn the last 4yrs have flew by. I just pray they make a New Guns N' Roses Album and I pray that Axl has a want in his heart to write and play with Izzy Stradlin again bcz it's something I want more than anything is to see Izzy back up there with the guys !! 😀 Adler proved that he could still play drums with them when he done done some special guest appearances but can u imagine what a new album from those Original 5 would sound like ?? You would think that those 5 fuckers would be curious to find out if they could recapture some of that magic on a 2nd GN'R. Don't pay me no attention @ludurigan I've just been those 5 guys....and that bands, #1FanInTheWorld #GnFnRs! #GnRForever #GOAT

@@tommydewayneisaacs2739 glad to read your reply. The "biggest selling tour of all time" argument does not work for me. Justin Bieber and Britney Spears also sell tours like hot water in the desert -- that don't make them any good to me. U2 makes millions of dollars on tours as well. I find them annoying. Agree 100% on the Steven Adler argument, when they fired him they lost a lot. BUT when Izzy left, well, that was the end for me. I am not sure you know that Axl behavior was likely the main reason Izzy left, I guess you know that. It was because of Axl again that Slash and Duff left a few years later. Axl "vision"? What "vision"? If the result of his "vision" is that crap Chinese Democracy album, then Axl better "buy himself a cane" as he sang on Locomotive. Oh and this new fake version of GNR is not kicking ass by no means on this fake reunion tour. Axl can barely sing, in fact his voice is truly annoying to me since 2001, and his new fake version of GN'R sounds like a mess. An original album by the GNR guys would be excellent. If Axl had any "vision" worthy being called "vision", he would do as you said: write and play with izzy and steven again. Hey, its great talking to someone who knows so much and is so passionate about GNR like i am, thanks again for your reply mate

have you seen that a night in the jungle tape? the one where mtv went to florida and did the interview with the guys backstage? they never showed it on mtv but you can see it on here. anyway! it makes me so mad because izzy was in a totally up mood and trying to talk a lot and every time he would start to talk the interviewer would take the mic away from him and go, do you have anything to say slash? do you have anything to say, axl? it was like let izzy talk! we never got to hear from him and had that opportunity and he took it away from us, lol! he had no idea how cool izzy was and should have let him talk. sometimes i think he held back a lot, cause axl talked so much he just felt like, i won't even try to compete with that, lol. then again, that interviewer from mtv probably ruined it. from them on izzy decided he was done trying to get any words out ... lol 😆

I always found that to be fascinating. On one hand you had Axl being well known to be an egomaniac. And yet, there's a bunch of songs he was willing to not sing on. Given they already had Dizzy on keyboard when playing live, this didn't give Axl a whole lot to do in those songs but play some tambourine. To me, that shows Axl's personality was far from black and white. He still wanted to be a member of a rock band (at least at the time), not a glorified solo show.

hmmm ... i agree that was a big part of it, but i think there was a lot more to it. i mean, it also boils down to the rest of the guys were drinking and using (not axl, i know) and he had no one to hang out with or play guitars and write music with anymore like he used to. they didn't want to. the music took a backseat to the drugs for them. i love all those guys, but it became just going on stage and performing but not hanging out and creating like they used to and he wanted to collaborate and create. i think had they not used or drank every day maybe he could have hung out with them some and done some of that. but it was all the time. and axl had started pushing him away so he didn't have anyone to hang with anymore and it just felt like going through the motions but not having anyone to hang with and not feeling like he had a place anymore. i just don't think it was only getting and staying clean. it was also axl and worrying about riots and not wanting to sit around for hours waiting for axl to show up or want to go on. feeling bad doing that to the fans. worrying about him walking off stage and is he going to come back? i mean, when you are sitting there waiting for you singer to start singing again, you are just standing there doing nothing. that is boring and frustrating. if he was able to drink before the show while he was waiting forever it would have been easier, but he couldn't, and he even asked the other guys if they wanted to learn a cover song in case axl walked off stage to play while they waited for him to come back and they didn't want to. it was just a lot more. love axl to death, so nothing against him. but that's just the way it was then. and he gets that now. i mean, axl always has been honest and open about everything, so why can't izzy?

If my impression was that of the interviewer being a starstruck amateur trying to take his pound of flesh from an individual (Axl) that was not even taking part in this conversation, then that's my opinion. It sounded like he had an agenda in which he tried getting Izzy to side with on multiple occasions. That's based on no prior experience of his work as a journalist. He may have a mantle full of Pulitzers for all I know. To me he came across as an overeager, boot licking, biased homer. ie, "hey man, can I come by your house or maybe we can drive around for a while"? I'm curious to see if any such follow-up interview took place that week or two later.
For you to condemn my personal or any other individuals interpretation of anything they experience just because it's different than yours is as much troubling as it is humorous especially If you consider yourself to be a journalist.

he talked. matter of fact, that really cool 'a night in the jungle' short that mtv never aired - he was really talkative on that and every time he was trying to talk the guy would take the mic out of his face and go, slash, do you have anything to say? axl, do you have anything to say? maybe he figured they would rather hear from the lead singer anyway. i also think he knew axl liked to talk so he let him have the spotlight in that aspect. heck, i love axl, but there were times when slash tried to talk and couldn't get a word in, lol. axl was a talker and enjoyed it, so izzy let him. and what's more important? writing or talking anyway? go look at some pics of izzy and he had a guitar in his hand a lot of the time when the others didn't. cause he was into the music and wanted to work on stuff. sometimes talk is cheap. what does it matter if he talked a lot or not? just don't really get that. and i didn't think he was blaming everyone else either. i think he felt the need to explain why he left sometimes. not to mention people would ask him. it's not like slash, duff and matt didn't eventually leave too. and yeah, a lot of people talk more when they are no longer strung out on heroin, lol. i mean, it's easier to talk when you're doing speedballs and coke, lol.
