We just adopted a Scottish fold from a rescue that rescues their cats from Kuwait. We never would have paid a breeder for one but our girl needed a home and we are happy to give her one and help her out as much as possible. Currently looking into supplements that will help her. Thank you for this video ❤❤❤

Breeder here. Always find a reputable breeder don't get a scottish fold that are both parents have fold ears. I recommend a mix of scottish fold and American or British shorthair.

Just a question, please don’t get offended 🙂 why do you continue to breed an animal that is going to live its life in pain? Just curious.

@catsbythefire i have 5 folds oldest is 10 and they never show signs of OCD. Ive done yearly xray and monthly cbc and they are all perfectly healthy. The only health problem i encountered is ring worm and UTI. OCD is only painful and severe if both parents of the kitten is folded ears

My vet said the condition was extremely rare and also was seen when both parents have folded ears. Which is why a good breeder would only breed a folded cat with a straight.

I had a domestic shorthair who had the gene. She was my first cat and lived almost 20 years.Yes, she had a very round head and tiny ears (they weren't extremely folded. On the contrary, they were upright. Just the tips were slightly folded forward and the whole pinna was about half of the size it should have had).
She was healthy and never suffered for symptoms of OCD.

Why would you breed a cat that is going to have pain throughout its lifetime? While being the most cutest cats in the world, they should unfortunately not be bred anymore. It is greed and greed alone, that they continue to be bred. If you truly loved critters, you would stop breeding PERIOD

I agree. However, I’ve rescued one that was surrendered to a vet and now I need to know how to give him the best life possible

Great question! We'd need some more info about your cat to determine what kind of questions you would need to ask the vet. We're planning on doing a video on this soon, so keep an eye out for it for future vet visits! 😸

That was so sad! How can you breed an animal knowing that he/she will be in pain?! That grieves my heart! Imho that is evil! Just wow… Their eyes look sad and I thought it was the breed, not that they were actually in pain! May GOD have mercy!

What cat breed is suggested for a mouser? Yet one that doesn't jump up on fireplace self. Thanks😊

Some believe that the American Shorthair, Maine Coon, and Siamese are good mousers. However, that will depend on the individual cat along with some other factors. Mixed-breed cats can also make great hunters and companions. It comes down to each cat's unique personality and preferences. Cats that have spent some time living outdoors are usually more included to hunt than cats who are born and kept indoors.
As for unwanted behaviors like jumping on things, that will come down to proper training, positive reinforcement, and sufficient enrichment that satisfies their natural instincts. Cat trees and climbing/scratching posts help prevent cats from exhibiting natural behaviors on their owner's furniture.
