- With the Halo 5: Guardians campaign slated to be the centerpiece of 343 Industries’ E3 keynote presentation, people like Creative Director Tim Longo have to make sure that a myriad of moving parts are ready to be showcased to the world for the first time. Amidst the excitement of finally getting to let the public experience the details of the next Halo story comes the pressure of making sure that every possible detail is accounted for and ready to go.
Such a shame that "Hunt the Truth" ultimately meant nothing, makes me shake my head every time.
What a way to throw out a promising storyline.
So this video confirms that the start of the 2nd mission, Locke will have killed Jul Mdama, rescued Dr. Halsey, she's aboard Infinity, and the Chief has gone looking for a "her" which he will be unable to see as an enemy... God 10/27 can't get here fast enough...
I dont think so, that Locke will kill Jul so early on. Keep in mind that Escalation is still going on and anything can happen in the Absolute Record storyarc.

Loved the beta, and I loved what you showed at E3. I'll admit, I didn't exactly love Halo 4's multiplayer (though I did really like the story,) but you guys are on the exact right track with Halo 5. My experience with the beta was the most fun I've had in a Halo game since Halo 3 and Warzone looks like everything I've ever wanted from big team. Looking forward to the release.

Coming from someone who has played COUNTLESS hours into 3 being my favorite halo game, halo 5 far surpasses that IMO.

i really like that they personalized the HUDs for each character. Halo has always paid a lot of attention to detail. Im wondering if multiplayer HUDs are personalized to the helmet design as well

So they create a 3D animated scene, match it to a motion capture room and film the fictional characters with an actual cameraman as if they were filming a live action movie. Man I love the technology we have these days.

Nice to know that they actually don't want the game to be too scripted. I hope this means that they'll lay off the QTEs this time around (I mean in Halo 4 they weren't horrible, but they seemed a little forced/gimmicky). Besides, the less scripted the campaign is, the more likely we can have a proper Campaign theater back. :)

Episode 2 of creating a mistake

So Halsey is back I see. I wonder how shes back with the UNSC? Did she play the Storm Covenant to avoid getting killed until she was rescued? or did they persuade her to come back somehow?
This turned out to be the WORST HALO GAME by far. Trailers lied to our faces, the plot couldnt have been worse if I made it up and the use of Promethians and the Warden Ethernal were just Bad, really really Bad

I'm totally on board with Osiris, aside from Tanaka. Nightfall was ok, but I liked Locke, New Blood and Hunters in the Dark are fucking fantastic, so I'm incredibly glad that we'll get to see Vale, Buck and Locke together.
Don't really care about Tanaka because her arc in Escalation was boring.

HaloFan117 Going from Glass Horizon, I really didn't care about her. I think the Innie's who helped her are more worthy of being a Spartan.
Granted it can all change with the Absolute Record arc, but I really wish Glass Horizon was a short novel instead so we got more time with her.

It's rather awe-inspiring, that all this planning, production and money invested into the game showed so much promise and potential, and yet the end result broke it and wasted it. I feel like it was either a matter that there was too many voices that over-complicated what was supposed to be a singular vision and direction, or if there wasn't enough voices to critique and refine the story to a polished state.
Whatever the case may be, it's a damn shame all that hard work led to the community's brutal criticism and distrust in 343 Industries. That being said though, the fans come first. And developers need to remember that it's easy to believe that fans downright hate you, but the reality is they're passionate of the game just as much as you are.
Some may argue that the developers where "obviously not passionate at all and it shows". But honestly, I don't believe that. I think it's insane to truly believe the developers in their entirety are simply careless and just want that fat check. I believe it's a matter of poor execution, the dots are there but they don't connect properly. And of course, it doesn't help that the advertising and marketing had drastically misled a story to be very diffrent, to have way more depth, and morally grey theme that blurs the line between right and wrong.
When I think of Halo 5, I easily find myself depressed that it was a failure, and that in the end not a lot of people were happy. Both the fans and devs. I've never seen such a divide in the gaming industry. And for it to be Halo of all things, a franchise I've held dear to my heart since CE. But there is a silver lining with Halo Infinite on the horizon, and I hope it succeeds in fulfilling the dream, restoring good faith and praise once more.
Agreed. Maybe they tried to do too much too fast? Bungie shot for the moon with Halo 2 and Reach and arguably messed, yet those games are remembered fondly years later. Perhaps Halo 5 will have its defenders in the next 5 years?

Hive Lord She still has a part in Halo 5's campaign though. You can hear her faintly in the trailer and people who got to play the 'Blue Team' level early said that she appears and talks to Chief, similar to Halo 3's flashbacks just not as obnoxious because it's in a cutscene this time.

After seeing this vid, It make me realize that I really want to work for 343i
In that first mission, when Osiris get to Halsey and are killing the elites there is something wrong. When the camera changes to focus on a different character attacking, we stop hearing the other characters fighting. It's as If when the camera goes to the next character, they just stop and wait until the camera is back on them
Its a standard movie technique. When you film an action scene with multiple perspectives the majority of the time you only do sound for the specific shot thats on the screen at any given moment, as the unspoken narrative under it all is that these scenes are all occurring at the same time, so to put all the sound in every shot means you would begin to hear repeats of the same sounds over and over again

Had they not made it a 4 person team based campaign OR had the A.I. been better on the team members, maybe it would have worked better. Of all the gripes halo fans have for Halo 5, NOBODY can say the game DOESNT look really good. The graphics are GREAT.

10:56 - Im wondering if you can customise the colour of your weapons ammo counter, like a skin. Normally its yellow/orange, but in this clip its blue. And this is quite late in development, so its not like it just hadn't been changed yet.
All the stuff where they're designing the HUD for the different helmets made me think it would be cool if you could have different HUDs for each different helmet in multiplayer. It would be cool but would probably be a lot of unnecessary work.
Hmm I'm quite angry at 343i for some changes (not splitscreen, that doesn't bother me)....its the fact that at some areas the resolution drops heavy to maintain that crucial 60fps.
It's a shame that Mike Colter couldn't voice Locke in the end due to his commitment to Marvel's Luke Cage. I hope he gets to voice Locke again in Halo 6, personally I think he voiced the character much better than the final VA did.
One thing I've noticed is that they're keeping the Master Chief's campaign a major secret and focusing on Locke's..could be just trying to get people to understand Locke or there's going to be some major things happening with the Master Chief. This saga or whatever (haha) is meant to be about Master Chief so it is a little odd they haven't show much.
is there going to be theater mode for campaign?... I find it a waste to put so much effort in it, when the people can't take closer look on your work...

The UI, Won't this affect the field of view ten folds? In H4 it already feels a little constricted. It's like playing virtual paintball

Out of armour, in hand to hand combat? Without a doubt, a Spartan IV would stand no chance against a Spartan II. Franchise director, Frank O Connor, confirmed this - not that it needed any confirmation.
Basically it all comes down to decades of experience (Spartan IIs) vs all of the newest and updated armor and tech (Spartan IVs).
All this hard work, let down by Brian Reed. Shame!

Michael Castro Halo is freakin' awesome dude. Its the only reason I bought a 360. Just saying that with all the cash they spend making it they could make it even bigger and more badass.
