Dennis Gage and Doug Demuro makes up 100% of the car videos I watch. I watch doug for the reviews of mainly quirky cars, but sometimes i just put on a supercar video. I watch dennis gage when im bored because it is always fun to watch.
I bet these things get 50-60 miles per gallon, but gas in Europe was always much more expensive than in the States. These cars were built when U.S. cars got 7-12 miles per gallon!
Scott lands ' Viper ' 0 to 60 4 days ( down hill. with a tail wind ) 0 to 100 " NEVER " I got a little nervous, when you passed that herd of Sheep,,,,one of them looked quite Smitten,,,,at that speed even a sheep could catch you,,
boomtao Elio electric micro and Myers Motors can be bought under 7 thousand dollars. However taxes, registration, and insurance is another subject to buying.
In addition to the 2 correct comments here, these cars have to have 2 stroke engines, to keep the weight down. 2 stroke engines are very dirty burners and wouldn't come close to passing muster. Yes, a few folks are the "I don't care, it's too interesting/cool/funny/unique so I'm getting it anyway" types, but your question is "catch on". They wouldn't catch on enough to sustain the factory. Electric versions might catch on when battery technology gets the size & weight and charge time issues solved.
I think those are really cool. It would be neat to have a modern version of one. I wonder if one is to build a replica, one could use modern gauges and a scooter engine and transmission?
+Thomas Lee Mullins I wonder if one could use the engine and battery layout of the Sam Cree to make an electric version of the Messerschmidt KR? IMO; it would be cool and green.
something strange......i took a video this same schmitt at moc rally this year and it was a roadster......then according to this it was up loaded on 16 nov 2012....dont know how old the footage is....... i wonder if the guy who owns 825 AOU knows its a sport ......just a thought :-)
I quite like this actually, it's got a nice chummy atmosphere about it. Almost like being back in my old classic car club in Dumfries & Galloway. I bet that presenter was in for a shock when he was told he's going to Scotland to look at Microcars with 2-stroke engines
I can just imagine driving one of these down the highway when suddenly your are blown to the side of the road like a piece of cardboard by a passing semi ! lol
should've just crushed these rolling fish bowls 50 years ago and been done with it.... worst part, 3 year olds will be laughing at you driving by....these would be cool installed with cb radios and that 12 foot whip bolted to the roof!
BlackCat56- Dude, do you not understand the concept of IRONY?! Messerschmitt, not that many years earlier, was the CORE of Hitler's dreaded Luftwaffe! Then in the 1950's, the remnants of the company built THESE to survive! Hah!
I think these Leprechauns , just smoked thier entire Pot of Gold !!
Brilliant, can't believe it's taken until now for me to find this. I'll be watching it again.
Thanks so much for a fun ride through You Tube. What a great bunch of guys & fantastic machines. Cheers guys.
The ride at the end with the music and the buzzing motors, awesome! 👏
I was more worried about bumps in the road.
Wow
All wonderful car's
I lakeit Thanks guys

This show has given me a whole new appreciation for tiny cars
I remember following one of these through the Rockies in the early 60s. It did quite well!
If i became rich...then subsequently decided I wanted to be a car collector, this is the kind of stuff I would collect.
A wee bit smaller than a smart car and yet more room !
These are so cute! But I'd be afraid if I was involved in an accident, very little protection.
I had a Messerschmidt and drove it to Jugoslavia in 1967!
Fantastic video! So cool to see 2-strokes in these vehicles. I ride old 2-stroke motorcycles. My latest is a restored 50cc Honda MB5. Cheers!
Wow wonderfull this car's
I remember when these were common on the streets of London. I loved them then - still do!
Could watch this every day 🤠🇺🇸🇬🇧🇨🇦
The teal cabriolet is my all time favourite
In my youth the Messerschmitts were well known as "Schneewittchensarg" (Snow White´s Coffin)...
Very cool! In America you'd get crushed by a Escalade or a Navigator!
I expected a fight to break out when Dennis said "Right here in merry, old England" to a Scotsman in Scotland.
Rob Mackenzie Scotland is not England really.
Scotland is NOT England AT ALL.. lol
+Rob Mackenzie
Is the host of the show American or Canadian? He sounds Canadian, but there are a few US states that sound "Canadian".
He's a Yank :-)
@@mikehall2008 correct. Australia is a suburban of London!!

Gasoline is very profitable for European governments.
You missed the 'Scootacar'. Great wee job!
Electroshock! he fits perfectly in the orange messerschit
Scott lands ' Viper ' 0 to 60 4 days

Excellent post 👌👌
My first time hearing about these. Neat little vehicles.
Love the music when they're driving really fits these quirk master micros!
Do more on micro car's, that was interesting.
My Bubble was SHR 456 and my Cabriolet was XXO 911.
Wouldn't these kind of microcars catch on nowadays? I would totally get one (if they were affordable)!

I'd totally drive one of these! Especially on days the motorcycle isn't an option
Those Euros really know how to have fun!!!

They are now custom built to your own size in Preston with Honda Motor Cycle Engines. You choose the size.

Messerschmit At 100 mph.
106mph in a Messerschmitt. My god.

05:13 ...in Germany they said: "humans in jelly"...
My preferred classic car's channel on ytube
I've never heard Dennis say "eh" so much in any My Classic Car show. Must be a reaction to the Scottish accent.
Gee , i'll have to get one for wilbur ,(mycat) , to follow me to the store in my smart car everyday . pww
Seems a frog the kr 200, a fighter plane cockpit...

They look like sand groupers to me.
SCOOTLAND YER SAY
Bonitinho os carrinhos, fui pintor de automóveis até me tornar profissional! São raridades!.

Some of these are barely a skateboard with a gasoline engine.
The true smallest is the Peel P50
sound like vespa
Anyone know what that gorgeous wagon is @0:30? Know it's a GM but pretty sure it's not a nomad.

Enjoyed AMC -Nash visit by Dennis-I did body repair at Nash ,AMC dealer !949 for many years Jack Remer.
Jack Remer ?
America needs a cheap little car right now.
dr seuss looking cars lol
Somewhere in Scotland is my Frisky, I wonder what happened to the DKW engine I fitted?
Poor Messerschmidts, they KEEP driving on the wrong side!
at 17:41 are they referring to 51 mph or 51 kph? I'm assuming kph but you never know
+Zave The Rave Definately mph.
my messershmitt used to do over 70 mph
Both mine would cruise at 70MPH all Day.
Mine, too - and surprisingly stable at that speed.
jesus have camera quality got better in the last 10 years
You guys were driving on the wrong side!
Anybody know what kind of MPG they got in these microcars?
Crazy high. 65 was definitely possible if you weren't living in a hilly area.
Officially about 80-90 (imperial gallons)
Mud Skippers
Rob Roy is turning in his grave.
be cool to electrify one of these
radioguy1620 ?
Obnoxious Otter I think there is a company that builds electric cars that looks like these
Poderia adicionar legendas pois gostaria de entender oque vocês estão falando obrigado
The Messerschmitts weren't the most refined, but they were the most racy... and racist
They must have been actually trying to see how ugly they could make these cars!
No need for the music at the end during the drive, would rather hear those tiny engine sounds
I can just imagine driving one of these down the highway when suddenly your are blown to the side of the road like a piece of cardboard by a passing semi ! lol

This series is so hyper and over dramatized... maybe many car people have micro attention spans and ADHD but I don't think most do...
😂😁😀😊✌✌👍🆒💯🆒💯😎😎
