Good day to all the other watchmakers and enthusiasts out there. Another entertaining video, your camera work and editing etc. just keeps getting better. I must admit I am glad to hear you are splitting the watch review from repairs. I come here for your take on things related to restoring watches. Especially Seiko. I finally got a 6139B, my first chronograph. Your tutorials and links to parts and inspection documents was amazing. Love what you do on the Tube. Thank you so very much!! ❤🤓🇨🇦
Thank you. I have a second channel for reviews up and running now but I have one or two videos left to do on the main channel that I had agreed to. After that other than maybe tools or something similar I won’t be reviewing watches on this one.
@@MyRetroWatches I think that is a very good idea. Your knowledge of abrasives really brings a shine ✨ to your restoration videos and the tool and techniques are always appreciated for the newer crowd I am sure. The older crowd can also pick up tips and tricks and that’s the part that’s not in the books. Your experience along will honest trial an error moments sets you apart. I will do my best to share your new channel with the folks I know.
Cheers,
Geoff
Late morning coffee on a snowy day, and Mike posts a video as soon as I open UA-cam? Perfect. Keep up the good work, and looking forward to continued reviews and retro rebuilds!
I like the green colour. And the blue!
I'm with you, the malachite dial is the standout here . The GMT complication I can take or leave, but the dial really pops.
I got the blue GMT after your earlier quick review of them. (and this time the pins didn't unscrew themselves!)
My first time seeing your channel and I did I enjoy it. Good work. Thank you.
Awesome as Always...Pleasure to watch.
Yes on the moon phase!!!
Very nice watch, love the dial colour. Thanks Mike great review, keep safe buddy
Quack-stone for a dial :) Well it has nice colours :)
I'm a big fan of Phoibos and this is definitely on the shortlist for my next purchase.
Good choice! This one and the Eagle Ray II in orange are my all time favourites.
Great review Mike. Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for teaching. I like those dive watch also but stay away I always end up beating up the time elapsed rings for some reason I need a better profile.
I love that dial face! This will be on my short list!
I have to agree. I have fell for the dial in a big way.
That dial is glorious.
G'Day Young Mike, Good to see ya. - What a lovely PHOIBOS GMT watch & with a SEIKO movement too - For the first 14 minutes I was loving it but then you announced it's cost.
Oh well, you can't have everything in life eh. Cheers Mate.
Sadly costs are rising on everything not just Phoibos . In the sale when it was. I think just over $300 I think it was a good buy
Nice movement, print stays crisp under magnification, they put enough work into it. So it's worth the money... I just bought a 2 € watch, bought a 4 € battery, and a 12 € NATO strap...which was too short, as usual :( Had to melt extra holes into it.. Watch looks nice, and it works, if I had the money I'd buy a Zeppelin Flieger watch :) Or a Seiko with thin hands, and sharp indicators and no extras, just the date, and the time.
:) It is very green though..
Pls help ?? I want to buy this gmt model but its nowhere to be found
On the official site, there is only version with 12 hours black bezel.
Where can i buy this gmt with gmt hand model ?
Thanks
Loving the Malachite but there is something i quite dont like about the bezel insert. Might be the standart looking font together with the high gloss . Just looks aliexpress cheap.
I personally like the two tone
Where do you get something like this serviced? Can it be serviced? Love the yellow option, and with 20% off right now, i'm very tempted.
It’s a Seiko NH34 movement so it’s fully serviceable. Or it can be replaced at a later date cheaply.
The joy of Seiko movements are they are affordable.
If you purchase use my link below in the description and my discount code and we will then both benefit
Thank you
I'd prefer applied logo .
Odd choice to have the gmt hand in green. Seems like a miss to me on that point, but otherwise beautiful
It is a bit odd but not a deal breaker for me but only because I don't use the GMT function.
Nice enough dial, but a bit too busy for my liking. Too much green. I think a 100% black bezel would look better and open the face more, making it less busy.
I wonder if I'm the only one who doesn't like GMT watches. 4 hands on a watchs feels a bit much in my opinion. Love that malachite dial and, hands and hour markers though.
Great looking watch, but the price is severe!!! For an NH35 movement and a bracelet with not enough fine adjustment notches. Regular dial, £80 would be good, malachite, £90.
You could not produce this for £90. It’s an NH34 for a start which costs a lot more. The quality is as good as any seiko for its build and solid steel finishing. How can a company make profit to design and bills this and ship it anywhere in the world for £90 ?
@@MyRetroWatches My experience, in 2018 I bought a Binger Max Bill homage with NH35, £67.01, excellent quality watch and bracelet, especially nice bracelet. These watches currently £72.14. In November 2022 I bought a Tudor Ranger homage with NH35, £99.59, excellent quality watch, bracelet great, screw in removable link pins. I used to have a Seiko diver, upper £100+, maybe £160, yellow dial bold looking, rubber strap, 4R36 movement, I think it was, but Seiko's own watch version of the NH35, can't remember what year I got that one. I have always thought of the NH35 as a common everyday movement, nothing high end, but good, nothing wrong with them at all.
@@WrightsW5 this is an NH34 though for GMT. This is not a homage watch either.
@@MyRetroWatches I can see the NH34 movement as low as £36.36 retail, they are usually a few tens more, but there are these lower prices from some sellers.
Edit, I looked at some trade prices, some doing 10 pieces for around £31 each or similar. Lowest I saw, 1000 or more pieces for £29 each.
Might be different in real life but the date looks a little hard to make out.
No it is hard to make out.
I like they are modifying date wheels as it’s not just a standard movement but they have used some dark colours on a few models now and they always seem to be hard to see.
Had the numbers been white I think it would be legible
:)
