  • Today is the big reveal of my brand new scooter. After 46.000 km on my old 2019 SYM Symphony ST50 I have finally upgraded to the brand new and redesigned 2021 SYM Symphony ST 200. A lot has changed from the previous model. This is just a quick first look because the full review will be coming in a couple of months after I spend some time with it. Considering this isn't a test vehicle or a loaner but my very own scooter bought with my own money, I want my review to be a true ownership experience review with all the good and the bad.

    Interesting introduction & birth of Donnie! A lot of thought & work went into this video. All of your repair stations (i.e., garages), & showrooms are unique in the scooter / cycle world, bar none, (very refreshing), no one does it better, Alex!👍🏻 Naturally, your spec / ride review opinions are greatly appreciated by everyone. Best to you, Rola (Oregon / USA)

    Lovely video, I dint go with the PCX OR N-MAX in the UK as I just love the style of SYM JET 14 with the flat floor. The most stylish scooter in the market for me along with the Aprilia SXR. I just booked a sym jet 14 Liquid-cooled and from your video what I understood is Air-cooled is better than Liquid-cooled. Wondering if I made the right choice by spending more on LC as I wanted the digital speedo.

    • @RideWithAlex
      @RideWithAlex  2 роки тому +2

      I rode both of them back to back, the liquid cooled engine is more economical in terms of fuel consumption. And in terms of power and top speed they are pretty much the same. I went for the air cooled just because that's how I felt I try to keep it as simple as possible. Plus the 200 was the only model to come with the factory color coded top case and I really liked that. You didn't make a bad choice with the 125. It's a great engine and you'll love it 😁

    Nice review! I own a Sym Fiddle 2 and always interested in other alternatives. What about the fuel tank in the floor, do you need a fuel pump then I guess? That lowers reliability instead of fuel falling from the top?

    • @RideWithAlex
      @RideWithAlex  9 місяців тому +2

      It's fuel injected, all fuel injected engines need a fuel pump. The thing is furl pumps are extremely reliable. My other bike a bmw r1100gs from 1996 has 187.000km and it has it's original fuel pump.

    Hello from USA. I just bought a SYM Fiddle 4 200i, 2022 model. It looks like a Vespa Sprint but has similar features as your scooter. It has the digital dash, LED headlight, fuel tank under the flat floor and large under seat storage. It only has 12” wheels and combination front and rear disc breaks but no ABS. It has plenty of power for the back roads and easier to ride than my old Suzuki Burgman 400.
    Surprisingly not much wind blast on my chest without a windshield. I am retired so this is just a fun bike for me to ride. Still getting to know it.

    Today I did my first 20Km with my new symphony st 200 euro 5 and I got it the same color as yours. ( I saw all the colors and thats the one I liked most).
    The scooter is very good on the road behaviour and all but the only thing that I don t like is the seat .
    When I am sitting closer to the steering wheel the seat material is fat so its very nice and comfy/soft. But when I am sitting more to the back in order to touch the seat step, where you are supposed to be sitting, the material is very thin and it results in a harder surface so its not so comfy.

    Salut! Am vazut ca scuterul are numere rosii, si voiam sa te intreb daca atunci cand vine scuterul nou, poti sa pleci cu el sau trebuie sa te duci cu el la RAR pe o platforma?

    • @RideWithAlex
      @RideWithAlex  2 роки тому +2

      La orice de la 125cc in sus putem emite numere roșii direct în showroom, este un cost destul de mic plus RCA pe 3 luni (3 luni sunt valabile și numerele roșii). Noi avem și ca serviciu posibilitatea de a face noi cartea fiind dealer avem un culoar mai rapid la RAR. Este 500 de lei all in și pleci cu cartea în mână, iar dacă țin bine minte numerele roșii sunt 100 de lei + RCA-ul care nu are preț fix fiindcă depinde de clasa ta de bonus (acel B0-B8) si de motocicleta/scuterul ales. Deci in principiu 600 de lei + RCA și pleci cu numere roșii valabile 3 luni și cartea în mână. La ce avem pe stoc avem deja cărțile emise pentru ca din experienta lumea vrea sa plece cu toate actele în brate și sa nu mai piardă timpul la rar (vreo 350 de lei este taxa la rar plus timpul pierdut juma de zi pe acolo)

      I think the 200 would handle it no problem, in the sumer I did 3 days of hard delivery work in 41+ degrees 10 hours per day about 500km total, and I rode really hard through the city to try to overheat it and nothing, it handled it just fine 🤷‍♂️. It's official I hate both my SYM scooters they are pieces of shit DO NOT BUY SYM scooters back in 2020 I purchased 2 brand new scooters from the local Sym dealership in Darwin Northern Territory Australia and both scooters have been the most unreliable scooters I have ever owned . I purchased a brand new SYM Jet4R 50cc 2 stroke and a brand new Sym symphony ST 200i 4 stroke they have both been problematic since day one
    I paid $4500 for the symphony and $3000 for the Jet4R
    Problems I have experienced with Sym symphony have been 1 month after purchase and 1500 km's the the digital gauge cluster was faulty and wasnt reading the correct speed I also copped two speeding fines $300 each from speed cameras before realising this problem so that was replaced under warranty
    Second problem the drive belt not even 3000 km's and 3 months old disintegrated
    Sym and the dealership refused me warranty stating drive belts are classed as a consumable items and is not covered under warranty that cost me $375 to replace
    A month after getting the first drive belt replaced it disintegrated again and not even done 1000 km's and this time the dealership replaced it free of charge
    Fast forward some months and Kilometers into 2021 buy this stage my Sym symphony has done about 6000km's and week after taking into the dealship for a full service my engine started making a horrible ticking/thumping noise took it back to the dealership and was told the main crank bearing has failed Sym replaced my engine with a brand new engine under warranty ... Lol the trouble didn't end there also upon picking up the scooter and taking home the spark plug popped out of the head and left me stranded , the wanker that replaced my engine didn't tighten/torque the plug correctly dealership quickly fixed this no charge
    About a week later after the previous break down the scooter died again this time the spark plug cap rattled loose and popped off that was also replaced under warranty fuck me this scooter is so unreliable
    Now fast forward to today and I have blowen my third drive belt, scooter has done 8500km's so I have roughly driven 4000ks since having the last drive belt replaced and I am yet to call the dealership to speak with them but I will tomorrow , according to the Sym service guide the drive belt should be replaced every 12000km's the previous three drive belts have all prematurely failed way before it's service interval is due .... Fuck me my scooter has not even done 10000km's and already three drive belts have failed
    Now for the Jet4R 50cc 2t
    It's been more reliable than the symphony but still had problems
    After owning it for nearly 2 years at around the 8000km's the top end blew up took out the piston and cylinder head Sym dealership refused warranty stating I must have ran the oil tank dry , which I know I didn't because every time I fuel up the scooter I top up the oil tank and also the low oil light never illuminated on the gauge cluster . That costed me $600 to have the piston and head replaced
    Fast forward a few months later after having that done the engine started sounding strange and I feared it could be another bearing faliure so b4 it got any worse I sold it off and basically passed the problem onto somebody else as I had had enough problems from the other scooter I own ...
    Sym are very popular scooters in Australia and I did my research before I bought these scooters also had friends that ride other models and they all day Sym are just as good Honda n Yamaha in terms of quality and parts availability and service , my experience has been total hell 2 unreliable scooters . I am now going to sell off the Sym symphony because I am done with having such an unreliable scooter they haven't done 10000 km's and are less than 2 years old they are fuckinG LEMONS I RECOMMEND NOBODY PURCHASE ANY SYM SCOOTERS , A fucken Chinese Tao Tao SCOOTER is more reliable
    So would any like to buy a 2020 sym symphony st 200i I have one for sale for $3500 from me ? Lol
