  • 3M tape goes by many names. 3M, Helitape, Invisiframe or frame armour. Whatever it's refferred to as by product variation, it essentially provides the same purpose. This is to protect your frame from superficial and cosmetic damage that could happen during everyday use, almost like a second skin for your bike.

I dunno, I got 3M branded clear vinyl off ebay, its 3M and works fine. There is some non 3M crap on there that is 100% useless.
One small trick, if the vinyl is dry and doesnt quite want to conform to a shape? Use a heat gun or hair dryer on high and it will lay down nicely, usually. A person could easily do double thickness on areas likely to get bashed.
The good thing is mt bikes dont have to look perfect, the vinyl comes off easily if it starts looking rough.

Good tip, I recently put black vinyl on my orange factory forks, full cover and needed the heat gun to make it conform

Great video, short and covers all points.
However I didn't watch your video before buying my protective film from eBay and its a knock off 3M product, that you can tare and puncher.
Do not buy from 3M Superior Helicopter Bike Frame Protection OPVC Clear Tape RHINO HIDE Sticke, based in Sydney.

Yeah a very good point, I’ve never used other products besides 3M as I read similar problems with knock offs!
