I'm sure someone else has mentioned it but Valve's official Steam Deck dock is available now for $90, I've got the 2nd Gen JSaux Dock and it works fine for my needs. Thanks for the awesome content! 🤙🏽
the valve one is overpriced only worth it if you need the display port
@@ThaexakaMavro I totally agree sir!
@@ThaexakaMavro included charger
@@joelherrera7979 Yeah, they should have made the changer optional since all Steam Deck owners got one with their original order, we all may not need two chargers.
My Steamdeck is coming in today ! I cant wait
came across your channel 6 months ago and been hooked ever since! Thanks for the cool content sir
I think the part that I'm most excited about when it comes to this review is the fact that your dbrand case fits in the dock. That's one thing I'm worried about when it comes to the official steam doc.
Steam dock definitely won’t fit decks with case on. It was designed for naked steam deck only.
Man, the new idents you are using for your videos are great. Very chill.
Thanks for introducing me to this. Its changed my living room gaming/PC plans.
Good to see different docks for it. I was shocked at the sticker price of the official one. I think it is still worth it due to what it has but it also has pretty heated competition. Like, for many people this one or the JSAUX one are the ones to get.
Yeah I really want to get one but at 90 bucks I’m very hesitant
@@toastbandit Also automatic updates, 3.1 vs. 3.0 usb, and display port! :)
The official one also includes a charger, with the expectation that you'll have it plugged into the dock at all times so you still have the original one for on the go charging.
@@toastbandit ya - having a backup PS / Charger for a product that I waited for nearly a year after I put in my reservation would be nice.
Not for everyone. But theyre such a good company even in their ad they say to use other docks. First party always more expensive.
Thanks ETA you the man
This applies to any handheld PC/ Android tablet with desktop mode in reality, but Steam Deck being the shiniest kid on the block makes it more popular.
I think the Steam Deck is probably the best choice since it costs less than half of those android versions.
@@ViciousAlienKlown AND it's highest price is becoming the discrete standard for other competitors in the space, but the dock is generic enough to be shared by both handheld PCs & desktop-compatible tablets.
@@bulletpunch9317 Half the power too.
@@bulletpunch9317 can these phones play pc games?
Honestly, that sounds awesome.
ETA PRIME + STEAM DECK instant click. 😍😍😍
Another nice option, thanks for video. Though have a portable monitor so with Bluetooth can get by, may well personally go for official deck dock, for extra versatility and extra psu...
it makes complete sense as a desktop, if you look at the mini pcs from guys like minisforum this is still cheaper and more powerful than most of those regardless of format
fantastic video, thank you
ETA flexing his double dock situation. I almost got a 2nd dock but picked up a series x instead.
Let’s talk
This is a solid dock. I bought the steamdeck dock because I needed one for my television, but I love the fact the company is totally okay with 3rd party docks too. Valve's commitment to listening to it's consumer base is so refreshing.
Let’s talk
Retro Game Corps also did a review for the iVoler dock. I picked it up just now because you both recommend it.
Worth noting with an external HDD you can install a more powerful Linux distro like Manjaro (or windows if you like) you just power the device up holding VOL- while powering on the device and then you can select your boot device. I did this and use my Steam Deck as my "work computer" I save around 60Wh using it in comparison to my beastly desktop, which actually makes sense to do due to energy prices in Europe and me having the computer turned on for 16h/day. The performance is great for what I do; developing a 2D ubiart-like game. In reality the only time I notice any difference is when editing videos or playing AAA games with a "premium" experience. In those cases I switch to the desktop.
Ordered!
Really excited to see you review Googles Pixel tablet with the stand next year. I am hoping that Tensor G2 will bring even more power to emulation.
Let’s talk
Steam Deck "Docking Station" is available to purchase on Steam now.
I love your content. Can you make a video about steam deck streaming setup with external monitor. Also please share the performance of steam deck during streaming and running a game at the same time.
Thank you
the official dock is able to be purchased from steam right now, i ordered one the same day i got the notification, i am going to pick this dock up as well though
Love your content, ETA! Would you mind comparing the size of this dock to the JSAUX one? Not asking for a special video, just some anecdotal info. This one looks slimmer, but not sure what the height difference would be, and the given dimensions for both devices on Amazon isn’t really helping. Want to know if this dock would fit slightly better into my tomtoc case.
Hearing your intro music, reminds me to play Stardew Valley again 😀
I would like to send some love to your Steam Controller that was present throughout the video and completely ignored, including during the controller segment.
You should do the comparison of all the current steam deck docks
What's up with the cables on the dock and charger not being easily replaceable at such expensive accessory?
For everyone asking about the keyboard im pretty sure its a NUPHY75. BUT those keycaps dont look like the standard ones that come with it….
"We don't have an official release date for the Steam Deck Dock".
The timing of this video...was impeccable...and so was a recent a purchase I just made...grrrrrrrr.
Amazon recommends a Daydayup case for the Steam Deck. Nothing wrong with the one that comes with. This dayday one has some SD card storage and a place for the charger. $20~
Considering...
i already use linux on a old laptop the steam deck seems like a good choise
The official deck dock is released
Valves dock released a couple of days ago. The store page says “buy now” rather than “preorder” and valve released a new video saying as much.
In Canada we are being charged $129 for the official dock all in, so even more but I also still feel its worth it to mitigate the uncertainty of 3rd party parts. While I am mostly happy with my Jsaux, I have had issues where I have had to reset shipment mode for example because my unit stopped charging...little things like that I feel the official will provide peace of mind. Plus better USB support and display port as an option.
Yup ours is ridiculously expensive. Still bought it for peace of mind. However I don’t know if it’s better than the dock in the vid.
@@PikaPower131313 Agreed. However, we get a 2nd charger (my 3rd now so didn't need it...should have been option without it) and the ports are USB 3.1 not 3.0 plus an additional Display Port. You are also getting firmware that you know will be made by Valve team members to address specifically Valve issues and consumer feedback. So for me in the end its enough...but an option for no power supply and $25 cheaper would have been great.
I noticed that the games run better in desktop mode. Higher resolution and FPS. Test example: Gris, Hob and Control. Could you test this in detail?
This is the future
Hi great video. Please can you tell me what brand or model is that your keyboard? Looks very cool. Thank you.
Way kool
I’m sure this has been covered before, but what keyboard is the one that’s usually used in your videos?
Cheaper than the official dock, but good to mention that official steam deck dock comes with a charger. If you don't need another charger, you should take third party ones.
if you're not going to leave the dock plugged in, what's the point of the dock really - just get a dongle
The official dock's out since yesterday I've already ordered mine it be with me in 2 weeks
Will this fit the original onexplayer 8.4 inch screen without it toppling over because the steam deck is obviously similar in size to the original onexplayer so is this dock a possible fit?
I have the AYN Odin super dock. I am curious to know if the hard-drive you can install will work as well as the N64/Gamecube ports.
I'm interested in the USB dongle combo for keyboard and mouse. Where can I get something similar?. I currently use 2 USB ports just for the keyboard and mouse
Steam’s dock was available for purchase yesterday fyi.
Can you use that dock without plugging in the charger?
How does this dock handle Android/Linux phones/tables?
Would it offer 4K 60Hz video output from a Samsung high end smartphone?
Like that fact this his dock has meatal case.
What's that keyboard you're using here? Looks nice!
damn this is so nice, I can't wait for handheld PCs to become mainstream and CHEAP! IMO the future of PCs is something like the Steam Deck BUT Powerful Processor + Entry-level graphics AND the option to simply attach an external GPU when needed, of course external GPUs have to become cheaper as well because that's a market untouched...
Let’s talk
…no…
Valves is out now!!!!
@ETA PRIME Hey man, where did you get those low profile keycaps for that NuPhy Air75? I love the keyboard for my Steam Deck, but dislike the stock kepcap colors for the space, enter, and escape. Cheers!
You now you can use fsr for fhd display with HD content?
Hey Prime! How'd you get that clear case?
Jsaux with nvme 2tb yeah! the best!
I ordered the official dock yesterday.
Let’s talk
What keyboard is that?
is that little cable detachable?
edit: to answer my own question: from amazon images it seems that the cable is not detachable.
Dang what keycap set is that on the keyboard?
Will this show the screen on the whole display on a ultra wide monitor
Can it do 4k on vod streaming services on an external display?
What keyboard do you use mate?
It would be cool if valve starts releasing some mini steam pcs at great budget like prices that's more powerful than the deck
They already tried that. Except, they just license what other companies do, and that didn't work out.
@@delancre5858 what is the name of the device?
@@kambinggorengkcalled "steam machines".
Official Steam deck dock just came out!
For everyone who is asking for the keyboard: it's the AYANEO x NuPhy Keyboard
test the blender demo scenes on it, how long they take to render?
how do you use mouse and keyboard in game mode ??? im still waiting for my deck but my friend can only use is mouse and keyboard in desktop mode
I see you have your dock in the dBrand case. Does the dock let the deck sit nicely on it in the case?
I would also like to know if there's a dock in which the Steam Deck with a case can fit
this may be a dumb question, but would this work with an m1 macbook?
Sorry to take this off topic, but just curious where things are with running Windows on Steamdeck.
Thanks for all the content you put out.
I using windows and evriting is very good 😁

@@gutamihai3285 i didn't think Valve had released drivers for everything yet. That was the last i heard. Has that changed?
Hi, is it possible to put the deck witch the protective case ? Thx
Does this dock also work with the Aya Neo Air Pro?
I bet this would work for an iPad with USB C, yes?
As soon as we find a place I'm get a Steam Deck with the Deck and 8TB of storage...
What’s the keyboard you are using?
Can you use the Steam Deck to display 4K gaming over in-home streaming or Remote Play? If that works, even through an ethernet connection in the dock, would be AMAZING.
Look up Moonlight. It does amazing for me over my home Wi-Fi network.
They just released the official dock
Could you maybe consider upgrading the wifi chip inside the deck? One that might be compatible with linux
Pretty sure it's soldered onto the motherboard.
what keyboard and keycaps?
What's that keyboard model? I like it ^_^
Really curious to how the steam deck would run with the dock and marseille inc mcable gaming edition combo. As this cable is meant to up scale a 720p resolution to 1080p
But why? The Deck performs perfectly fine at 1080p.
I have a Windows laptop. How do I hook up my hub to my steam deck?
Reports are the iVoler does not keep charge with 45W chargers, including the Deck charger. Anything more than HDMI plugged, Deck warns of charging issue. Notice the Deck charger is not being used here.
Does it work with ayaneo?
Hello just got the steam deck a couple days ago and for some reason i went to desktop mode on my monitor and it only displays on the steam deck and not the monitor! Because i set it to external by a mistake can anyone help me
Surprised no one is talking about the fact that this dock let's you keep your case on your steam deck
that is very cool!
Can you try emulation in dock mode
Would be nice if the dock had a fan to cover the ports of the Steam Deck to add more cooling to expand the Steam Deck's lifespan. Here is an idea, install Aida64 & run it on the SDeck while in desktop mode.
Doe this work for Ayn Odin?
why his opens the steam deck?
Will the battery swell if you leave the Deck on the Dock plugged in all the time?
It deck is set to de-charge automatically to 95% to prevent harming the battery.
@@nicolaim4275 I thought you are supposed to keep lithium batteries between 10% and 90%?
@@estusflask982 Each percentage away from 50 leads to some strain, but the really big issue is when a unit keeps charging above 100%.
Unfortunately this video fails to mention one of the biggest issues with using the steamdeck as a desktop : installing apps that are not available as flatpaks through the discovery store is a huge pain (mostly due to valve preinstalling a lot of dependencies but only partially), and according to several users any app installed outside of discovery will get wiped with your next steam OS update. So depending on what you want to do you basically have to install a different Linux distro or even Windows.

How do you change the scaling while docked and displaying to a 4K TV? I cannot find an answer anywhere. And everything is extremely small on that TV like this =-/
In Desktop Mode go to settings and then change it on Display.
Gamemode- go to properties in every game before started, you can change the resolution, internal and external.
Really wish these docks would have usb c for data as well. That's a deal breaker for me.
Imagine having a gamer wife who plays with Steam Deck!
@Swiftatty No, I don't mean that's wrong...
I mean this will be a wife of my dreams!
I hope steam does a nuc. A little more powerful chipset could make a reasonable low budget gaming pc for the price of a series s.
nuc?
It's a term for Intel's tiny PCs with integrated/sometimes discrete graphics. Nowadays it's genervized to mean almost any tiny PC with discrete graphics
Why didn’t you get the official one?
Edit: okay never mind I’m getting this one it’s way cheaper and it has every feature the steam one does
