Ooooh Emily's story gets crazier as it progresses! The cover up and the gaslighting!!! Why did Nancy need a letter written? To prove that the school was innocent?
Once she explained the cyberstalking, it was so much easier to understand why she even communicated with him. The stalking added a layer of fear that wasn’t visible until it was explained.
Jean and Emily, thank you for sharing your stories. It is so hard for me to hear the truly terrible things that happened to you at the hands of these “Christians.” Like Emily said at the end, if he truly was repentant, he would walk into the police station and turn himself in. The church should hold him to that… but this church certainly won’t. Justice should be served in this lifetime, I hope it will, but I’m not confident. But I know God will enact justice, vengeance belongs to the Lord. God is always on the side of the victims, not the wicked. Isaiah 10:1-4 “Woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees, and the writers who keep writing oppression, to turn aside the needy from justice and to rob the poor of my people of their right, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey! What will you do on the day of punishment, in the ruin that will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help, and where will you leave your wealth? Nothing remains but to crouch among the prisoners or fall among the slain. For all this his anger has not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.” There are many times when I am grateful for God’s mercy on us, after all, I am of course a sinner myself, but it is situations like these where I am so comforted by his perfect justice.
This was a hard listen even though I know both of these brave women's stories. Thank you for all that you and your team are doing to bring this to light!
This story is so amazingly right on. So much of my daughters story aligns with this story. Christ Church Spokane and Trinity in Coeur d’Alene have the exact same M.O. - unbelievable lack of Christ likeness.
Thank you guys so much for digging into this! It's important. There is too much hero worship in the Christian world. I remember watching "Eve in Exile" last year (a documentary by CanonPlus), and liking their content. But I found out that they mischaracterized one of the historical figures they discussed - Mary Wollstonecraft. They portrayed her as a rebellious, wanton woman. I recently read her "Vindication of the Rights of Woman" and felt an immediate kinship. She was not crazy. The society she lived in was incredibly oppressive to women and did not allow women to be educated. If anything, she fell from grace because she fell in love with the wrong guy. If they really cared about educating women, why would they denigrate such an intelligent, clear thinker? It's really made me think. If they were willing to portray a woman who lived 200 years ago in a false light, what are they doing now?
Jean's story is so heartwrenching and powerful. Before I share with others, I wanted to ask about a few inconsistencies in case those who don't want to believe the story bring them up. She said she's a single mom living in poverty, but then she mentioned a husband. was she talking about past singleness and poverty?
wow, just heartbreaking and infuriating
Thank you ladies for standing up and speaking out

Heart wrenching accounts. Speechless. No one should suffer what you did and still are "Jean". I'm so sorry.

On my second husband "he.....actually.....helped." So telling, and I am so thankful you had a supportive partner.
Thank you for this podcast. I met Sarah Bader as a little kid before they moved to Moscow. My mom is her mom's friend Carol.
