I sold two Petersons to buy the Canvas Tuner. The strobe is so much easier to control and bring to a dead stop, even without the flashing frame. Another thing I disliked about the Peterson was the the menu buttons, which I constantly pressed accidentally. The menu buttons on the Canvas are flush with the box. Add that the Canvas screen is so much easier to read (a factor at age 65) and I'm glad I switched.
A cabinet fell on my MAKO Series: D1 High-Fidelity Delay and the company replaced the casing at no extra charge, just shipping. Walrus Audio is a great company with many outstanding products and excellent customer support!
There should be a setting that shows the user's custom image when a note is spot on

I never thought about it until just now seeing you play the bass at the end and how the tuner is fast enough to keep up. Having it on all the time while learning scales and improvising would actually be great for learning the notes in a key. I always see the chord chart for a backing track, and I know what key it is, but I don't know off the top of my head which chord is which scale degree. With this, I could easily see which scale degree corresponds to which chord in the progression. It would really help me learning to play with the changes. I have to sit there and think it through to know that the 6 of Em is C, for example. So it's really difficult for me to know in the moment that the C chord in the backing track is my 6 in my scale while I'm practicing improvising.
That was a big ramble but I hope it makes sense haha.
The sweater looks ducking great.
At that price, it should include a Multiband EQ, Boost Pedal features, and a Noise Gate. That would make it really useful "Utility Pedal," and save more space on a Pedalboard

Screen is cool for set list, but the current draw is silly and it's not as small or accurate as the Turbo Tuner.
Now waiting for mine to arrive.

I like this tuner. Unlike 90% of the bad product designs in the world (microwave ovens you can't figure out, with unreadable interfaces ... dashboard lights you have to tear your car apart to change etc.), that tuner has a big, bright, easy to see UI and simple, easy to understand controls! Was it designed by Finns or ???

I'm fine with my Korg Custom Shop tuner with the green and blue lights. I can see it from any angle in the room. When everybody sells theirs to get this one, I'll buy a spare.
Great tuner, but I have Fractal FM3 with bigger screen, but if need a tuner to a classic pedal board, then its a pretty good..
This is the only new pedal I’ve wanted in almost a year.
I got burnt out buying new pedals all the time and always feeling like something newer, better, and cooler was always coming out. Trying to stay ahead and current with my pedalboard got expensive and exhausting
I could see it being convenient (kinda) to use the picture bypass mode for keeping your Setlist on your board. Sure, it'd be small, but it'd be THERE. and BACKLIT.
Looks great but is it a true strobe tuner or a pseudo strobe and therefore not as accurate as say a Peterson? I love my Peterson strobostomp mini, which is also very fast and of course accurate and small. I also use the sweetened tunings and buzz feiten modes on the Peterson. It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison between this and the Peterson mini to compare accuracy and speed etc., just a thought. Looks like a lovely piece of kit though, I can see why you like it. Kind regards.

Needs a scroll function to have the set list on the screen in standby mode. Or, load pictures on order of the setlist and long press the foot switch to scroll through them. We could even have a nice picture for each song. Like the album cover of something like that

I don’t see anything in the manual for turning on display of the octave. I will never understand why so many chromatic tuners can’t display the octave, and those that can almost invariably have it disabled by default.
Some things, even Henning can't get me excited about, despite them being good products. Now that guitar … is getting me excited.
Overall I agree. Fun unnecessary features, PLUS MANY NEEDED ONES! Power on the side does suck.
FAVORITE THING is the "in tune" flash/indication even on the strobe. I don't believe (though I have not dug deep) that my Peterson has that. Well crud. I might need 1 or 2 of these.
I recently bought the Ltd Peterson one... but such is the GAS world... ya gots to get the next best thing... that's just how it is! 😎🤘🎸

This tuner is almost perfect, except it has no 9V aux power output.
i have a Peterson Strobo-Stomp ... nostalgia aside, it is excellent except for one thing ... i really feel that if a pedal is over 4.75" D, that the power connector should go on the side.
Yesterday I started building a pedalboard for an acoustic guitar rig and thought to myself "Ok I need a decent tuner pedal because the clippy on thingy does not mute the guitar sound" and now I see this video. Thank you, but please get out of my head :D
Imagine how cool it would be if this pedal could take an input and show the chord you're in when you're playing along to tunes

As long as it can't brew a decent coffee in the morning I won't change it for my Boss TU-3 tuner pedal. Period! - eh, period.

I love it!
But there are 2 big features that my BOSS tuner has and I use - 2 outputs, I can split signal without needing another pedal and a 2-nd power outlet so I can chain power delivery.
They have the room to implement these and I'd love to see them in the future.
I understand the higher price, but currently I feel that my cheaper BOSS is just fine and I'm not in a hurry to replace it anytime soon.
I agree this is a great tuner, but I don't see people who already have tuners rushing to buy it.
They can put more.
SOME IDEAS: if you put a power outlet you can have a menu for variable voltage/power and the fuzz crowd will LOVE you!
If you put 2 outputs you can have a menu to choose when which is muted or both are muted and the stereo crowd will LOVE you!
You can do so much! Try harder and I will buy 2!
watching this video gave me an idea. We need a tuner that is capable of displaying a setlist.
Bob Bradshaws custom built pedal boards can do that since 1994!

Do you think the buffer having a 400 Ohms output impedence is ok? I feel like the Vertex Effects guys preach that you need 100 Ohms. Do you think it matters?

The Vertex Effects guy also claimed he designed his own wah pedal, so I wouldn't worry about what he said.

Das ist recht einfach: 10mal höhere Genauigkeit durch ECHTES Strobo Tuning und die hervorragenden "sweetened tunings". Dazu gibt es derzeit keine Alternative. @@rockinvegan1765

I am a cheapskate, so I bought the iStrobosoft app for my Android phone and still love it for the genius stroboscope effect.
Clearly the Canvas Tuner has a higher excitement level, partly caused by the Gearstreet logo already set by Walrus.😂

I still see no reason to prefer this over my Peterson real strobe tuners .... their precision is 10x better and they offer multiple wonderful sweetened tunings.
Both are 0.1 cent accuracy so how is it 10x better?!

Great video. You should get your pay doubled. After I got my new amp modeler a year ago I sold my Peterson Strobostomp and my TC Polytune 3 because I just don't need tuner pedals any more.
I have to say there are other great tuner pedals with added functionality like the Providence STV-1 (buffer, router, splitter). The one I found most useful was the Caline Power Tuner. When this thing came out it was less than 30 € with shipping from china, nowadays it's more expensive. Tuner and power supply for another 8 pedals, it's just a very good idea and a great point to start when building a pedal board on a budget.
If I had to buy a pedal tuner now I would probably go for the Polytune 3, because for what it does it's very affordable. If not this Walrus Canvas Tuner would also make a great addition to any pedal board. I also think every tuner pedal over 60 bucks should have an optional buffer.

Probably the most important pedal on any board. This is certainly a step up in functionality, however, 200mA draw is a heck of a lot...
Never used a tuner on my pedal board and never had a problem.
I could see why there is a 200ma draw. I bet its the screen..and its brighness. I play alot of shows outside...how I long for a display that is readable in direct sunlight. I would gladly deal with 200ma draw to get that. I had to have my pedals customized to super bright LEDs because of this problem. I applaud this !!!!!!!!! Live musicians will smile.

This is great. If I didn't already have Turbo Tuner ST-300s on all of my boards I'd be looking seriously at this.

I know I'm a dork, but i think utility pedals are cool. But why should they make them?! Well, why not? Musicians need this stuff.
the overall ugly design looks like crap to me to be honest... its more expensive than the Strobo Stomp HD or Mini. This Walrus is not a real strobe, it doesn't have variable bypass modes, it's 200 mA +(!!) or is it 300 as on the Walrus page?? and has no sweetened tunings either, these are a godsend to me.
Hmm cool tuner but "only" 0.1 cents precision when the top of the line tuners have 0.02 cents accuracy? Hrm hrm. Still happy with my Turbo Tuner for the time being.

I'm using a plastic LED clip-on thingy for 7€90 with a 270° display (accurate enough for me). What am I missing over these rather pricey tuners?
