Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - All Languages Comparison & Differences
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 бер 2019
- Decided to spend the past month and a half finishing this up. Cannot stress how much time and patience it took to gather everything and combine it all together. This will be updated again once all DLC is released.
This includes most, if not all of the voice actors in the game for the announcers, characters, Pokémon and Assist Trophies. The languages are English NTSC, English PAL, Japanese, Korean, German, Dutch, French NTSC, French PAL, Spanish NTSC, Spanish PAL, Italian and Russian. The most dubs throughout the franchise. I was surprised that they decided to include a Dutch and Russian announcer.
Interesting to note is that Xander Mobus actually covers the pronunciations of the Korean characters, while doing it for English and Japanese as well. Compared to where Brawl had its own separate Korean voice actor.
Timestamps are located in the comments as the description character limit is too short. Music is also listed below.

I'm French and I gotta say, Amphinobi's (Greninja) French voice lines kinda leave to be desired. Like, it's nice but it could be better. But what I don't get is why the French artistic directors made the voice actor laugh in Greninja's victory screen instead of making him say something similar to the others. With that it's as if Amphinobi's almost laughing like a stereotypical French man x( (I don't think I'd be too surprised if it was done by them on purpose though).

Not sure why Isabelle's name changes so often, but I love how her name is Canela in spanish. (Cinnamon)
*melinda*
Isabelle, as well as other Animal Crossing characters have their names changed based on their species or a personality or physical trait they have. In Isabelle's case, she's called "Canela" en Latin America and Spain based on the fact that she's a dog ("can" in spanish is a way to refere to canines... well, dogs), and the word "canela" ("cinnamon" in spanish) can be used as a sweet femenine name. "Isabelle" is a name given to her in the U.S. and other english-speaking countries because of her hair-do, which looks like a bag of bells (the currency in all AC games), and "Isabelle" as it is, is a girl's name. She's called "Shizue" in Japan because her particular dog race is more likely a "shih tzu", and so it is with other languages.
If you didn't catch all that, I can explain it to you in spanish, too
Omar Casillas every Animal Crossing characters' names change depending on countries
Omar Casillas well, because she’s a cinnamon roll
I think in French she's called Marie because it almost sounds like "Mairie" (Town hall). That's fun ^^

It's impressive of how much the video contains, and that must have taken a long time to do. - You should have considered putting what language it is on screen, so it's easier to follow, as the point of the video is the different languages. You should also consider turning off the sound effects so the voices are easier to hear.
Okay Roy’s scream gets me every time it sounds so damn painful XD

Falco's voice in Japanese actually is the greatest thing in this game
And the VA is the same since Melee (unlike Fox which now has a different VA since Brawl)!
Thank you for your work in compiling this. I wonder if it wouldn't be too hard for you to release a version without music, the next time you upload an update version including DLC characters.
The Winner is translated from different languages in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate:
English NTSC/PAL: (Character's name), wins!
Korean, Chinese, and Japanese: (Character's name), win!
German: Winner, (Character's name)!
French: This bout's victory goes to, (Character's name)!
Spanish: The winner is, (Character's name)!
Italian: Winner, (Character's name)!
Dutch: The winner is, (Character's name)!
Russian: The victory goes to, (Character's name)!
Spanish and Dutch mean the same as the previous two Smash games the announcer said in NTSC languages after a Vs. match is over. As shown here, the French announcer says the same thing as the NTSC announcer says at the time a Vs. Mode battle is complete when Smashdown ends. Some characters have the announcer say the same thing as the Korean, Chinese, and Japanese versions of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate when set to English. What the French announcer since Smash 4 says, after a Vs. Match is over, is pretty much the same thing as the first two Super Smash Bros. games except the reference to game is replaced with fight or bout.
Wrong. In Spanish the announcer says "la victoria es para" which means "the victory is for". The winner is in Spanish is "el ganador es" (male) or "la ganadora es" (female)
Actually in Italian the announcer says "vittoria per..." and that's mean "victory for..."
The french announcer says "Et c'est une victoire pour..." which actually means "And it's a victory for" and not "This bout's winner is"
The Dutch Announcer Also says something different for the duo characters too (except Pyra/Mythra) Here are the characters.
Duck Hunt
Rosalina & Luma
Banjo & Kazooie
Ice Climbers
Translation: " The Winners Are (Character Names)"
26:54
Sonic Sounding Cool as *peck* in every langauge
Kirby Speaking warms my heart 44:21
Something cool I thought you could've done with Bayonetta's section is record it entirely when the game's language was set to Japanese. She speaks English in the Bayo 1 costume no matter what, so you could've done one Bayo in that costume with the other in the Bayo 2 outfit, saving you a trip to the options menu to restart the game!
I remember these good old name changes that they made with Jigglypuff, Bowser, and the other characters from the older titles. but (maybe) one of the coolest character's Japanese name change that is actually in this game [that I've ever heard in my life] is Incineroar, being known as: "Gaogaen" in Japanese.
To bad we never get a true latin spanish dub
1:07:30
Why do we need it? There's no Canadian French and UK English either. Stop complaining. The important thing is that the game has Spanish language, period.
There Is UK English. For Wii Fit Trainer.
@@Emerald-Fluffie I'm from Latin America and that is NOT true. The only things that change are z pronunciation, vosotros vs ustedes and some vocabulary. The rest is EXACTLY THE SAME THING. So, I repeat. STOP COMPLAINING!!
@@rice._.3637 There's also Canadian French and Latin American (Mexican) Spanish for Wii Fit Trainer too
I'm Latin american and I just CAN'T STAND European Spanish dubs. Don't know why. I simply hate them...
HOLD UP, Mika Kanai *also* re-recorded her Jigglypuff lines, right? Now Jigglypuff’s Japanese voice sounds somewhat sweeter than before
Mad respect for the person who made this.
in falco's final smash, it also says another line, changes the game to Korean, japanese(any)also english, and grabs with the final smash 3 players or more
I like how there's Dutch announcing in this game which sounds better than the Korean announcing in Brawl. Not that many people care about the Russian announcer, so I find the Dutch announcer interesting. I'd say, Dutch is the new Korean. I'm saying that Dutch and Russian in Ultimate is basically what happened to the Korean version of Brawl.
Well, i'm not really a fan of it, even though it's the language from my country
6:26 *BLACK PIT* you mean the void right?
Erm, No!
I love how some of the dubs sound menacing when they read "Dark Samus" in their native tongue
SAMUS OSCURA.
Great Compilation
Fun fact: Spanish female Pokémon trainer is the same VA as D.VA from Overwatch :)
Are you gonna redo this vid when all the dlc is out?
Also I think Marth and roy have other lines for their counters
In most languages outside of English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese language settings, game over for the match translates to "It's over!" from Spanish. All the other ones translate to "FINISH!" just like the Mario Party games. When a character wins a versus match, the announcer says "The winner is...!" translated from other languages outside of Xander Mobus as the announcer. French for "GO!" literally means "BEGIN!" or "START!"
There's a Chinese version?
@@TheSharkAnt Simplified and Traditional.
@@tyshco2969 Yeah, I found that out long ago.
@@TheSharkAnt Radical.
In brawl i think the Life mode is called siegen (to be victorious)!
As a Korean, I’m really surprised at Xander Mobus’ Korean pronunciation.
Because he had to do more than one take to nail the pronounciation.
I'd like to do my own version of Korean Announcing in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. I'll need a script with the Korean announcing lines with the pronounciation next to them. You can send the script to me at thepatrickinator@gmail.com. The announcing will be just like the Korean version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl except I'm doing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The announcer calls on the Ice Climbers (얼음 타기), Young Link (소년 링크), Villager (마을 주민), Rosalina & Luma (로젤리나 & 치코), Greninja (개굴닌자), Isabelle (여울), and Incineroar (어흥염).
I still think Roys English voice actor did the best scream in the whole game. It feels so real, like... Ray Chase (I think that's the voice actors name) deserves an Oscar or something because man... That scream terrified me when I first heard it.
I was like what the hell Roy you good
Shulk without "IM REALLY FEELING IT" it's not Shulk, outta this house xD
Can we just appreciate for a sec how legendary the Russian announcer is
I think he isn't
nice job
i hope you can get full rest for good
Also if you re-do this video, maybe put the flags for each language on the screen when theyre being played? This also might help for when english clips are recycled so you could just have the USA/UK/Chinese/Korean flags all on screen at the same time, and even for like ones that only have english/japanese dubs it might be cool to have the other flags to know which game uses that setting. (afaik Chinese/Korean has japanese dubs when available but all other languages use the english dubs)
and dosent some characters (incineroar) have chinese names?
also also, maybe for the victory screen you overlay a clean recording from the sound test? its a bit confusing when you have the announcer and the character speaking over each other (or even for the pokemon trainers in general)
@@Zachruff Thanks for the suggestions! This video does have some errors and stuff as well that I didn't see, so once all the DLC comes out, I'll add in that stuff as well.
Maybe you should include the flags for each respective language.

When you update this for the DLC fighters, I hope you include the masculine and feminine differences for the Mii fighters in Spanish. Pelador/Peladora (brawler) and Tirador/Tiradora (gunner). I don’t know if French and Italian have differences for male and female miis, though. Apart from that, it’s an amazing video that must have taken forever to do.
For French
Boxeur /Boxeuse (brawler)
Tireur / Tireuse (gunner)
No change for swordman(woman)
I talk about French European not Canadian. I don't know for that
There are masculine and feminine differences in German, French PAL and NTSC, Spanish PAL and NTSC, and Italian.
never thought i’d love the dutch announcer! his english is really good!
Just realised that the dutch one is the only one that doesn't change the names of the caracters, it only translated some words into dutch, and changed gunner to cyborg as we don't have a word that directly translates gunner. Call it lazy or call it most acurate, I am happy that in the first time in years we have a dutch translation, as we normally get left out of the translation picture and just get the English version.
There is also Dorpsbewoner as Villager.
Hopefully this video gets updated soon now that the DLC is fully released...
I can literally only hear Joseph Joestar when Japanese Chrom talks, I know they got the same voice actor but damn it feels like we got Joseph in Smash

Just a few days before you update this with DLC characters!

I'm slav, and I can say, that the smash ultimate Russian language translation is very well translated, played some games, with Russian language, I mostly noticed translation was like "word changed, so meaning are changed/lost" at some places of most games, so they did translation very well!
Кстати, классно они с Кинг. К. Роль заморочились. Получается, что персонажа зовут Кинг Король или King King

All DLC is released, hoping for that update!
Just out of curiosity; what made you make this type of video?
very good smash video.
The French announcer of Brawl, 4 and Ultimate sadly passed away on March 20, 2022.
What? Aww man…
I've heard Dutch announcing in Ultimate and it sounds much better than the Korean announcing in Brawl. I'm not a big fan of the Russian announcing but the Russian guy did a great job nonetheless. Outside of Xander Mobus, Jean-Louis Faure is my favorite foreign announcer. The Spanish announcer seems to be the least favorite out of all the foreign announcers. Italian announcer seems to feel a little nervous especially when he did his VIA! meaning GO! in Italian. The German announcer is my second favorite, but since there is Dutch announcing, I changed my mind to Dutch.
I don't know why I like and love incineroar's german/deutsch voice? That voice=Fuegro sounds and fits him a lot, that the most used voice=Incineroar.
