- In this futuristic racer, the key to winning is speed! F-Zero X will become available for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members on March 11!
Choose from 30 different hover-car racers, including updated versions of the Blue Falcon and other vehicles from the original F-Zero™ game, and get ready to hit the acceleration! Race to the finish line on tracks that twist and turn through the air. However, you will have to avoid the other 29 cars on the track or else face the consequences! If you're in a competitive mood, try to win a Grand Prix Cup, get the fastest lap time in a Time Trial, or destroy the competition in a Death Race. You can also challenge three friends in the Versus mode. With five separate play modes, hidden vehicles and courses, and an excellent soundtrack, F-Zero X is a worthy racing title to return to!

@@adamdenardis5438 F-Zero had an anime, (but only a little of it was localized) and a "Star Fox the Battle Begins" promotional anime was made to promote "SFZero." It's on Nintendo's official YT channel.
@@beauwalker9820 You can watch the full F-Zero anime (Japanese only. There’s subs though) on UA-cam. Be warned, however, that it takes like 10 episodes to really get rolling (though, the first two are pretty good for a first impression).
I agree, at least competitive Melee shows all of those characters a decent amount to say the least.

Yes. I have always liked fantasy racing games better for a console.
For realistic racing, consoles are not too good.
PC has things like I-RACING that totally blow away any of the "real racing" games on consoles.

I’ve tried to picture what a new game would look like. You could really even lean into the whole ‘comic’ feel and tell the campaign story in comic strips. However it’s done, it would be awesome
Some people have mentioned in the past that a free-roaming F-Zero would be cool where you play as Capt. Falcon in the story mode, leaning into the whole bounty hunter aspect of it, hunting down criminals and participating in races on the side, working your way up to Grand Prix champion. The world and characters are rich enough to support it, all the other racers are brimming with personality and the locations in F-Zero GX look amazing. It seems really highly ambitious, especially for a Nintendo game, but I still dream about it happening some day, lol
@@dosbomb both concepts would work perfectly for this game universe, maybe we could also tie in Star Fox and Metroid into it.
Focusing on the 80s/90s comic book aesthetic is definitely something I've always wanted to see them try as well. A proper evolution to something already established. It would be great if they brought back Takaya Imamura to assist with that as well, since he was a big part of why the series even has characters and that specific look in the first place.

It's been literally nearly 20 years since GX. If there's any series overdue for a big comeback, it's this one. The revivial and remakes of Metroid, Kirby & Advance Wars certainly has me hopeful. I'd love the chance to race online and have that wonderfully ridiculous zany story mode again.

One of the only games of the era to run at a silky smooth 60fps. Amazing game. Would be nice if they rereleased the N64 DD content as well, since most people have never played that.
As far as console racing games go, I can name only one and a half others on PSX: Turbo Prop Racing and the bonus disk version of Ridge Racer that came with Ridge Racer Type 4.

One of the best racing series ever created....and Nintendo just sits on their thumbs. At least folks can play this absolute beast of a racing game. What would be even cooler if they sweetened the deal and added the 64DD expansion for folks to try out. It adds way more to this game.

@@beatziegraham6928 in that set of levels was a rainbow road which I believe came from the N64. Even had the rainbow 🛣️ ad theme song made in the F-Zero style. Sounded amazing.

There's also Donley Kong. This frachise deserves a sequel as much as F-Zero does.
@@Jordan_Z936 I hope so much they bring Donkey Kong in the third dimension. That's what he deserves. Just imagine an ever expanding (semi) open world to climb, jump and talk and interact with NPCs to experience a true Donkey Kong story.
Maybe a new Wario platformer would be more deserving, but only that. This is a close 2nd.

@@impossiblehanley2732 That's what I prefer. I hat being able to go everywhere right from the beginning. I want the world to be conneccted and open in the end but as a reward for getting all abilities I need. There i no bette feeling in gaming than waiting for hours for the moment when you are finally ready to explore a new area which you couldn't reach with your moveset before. Other options that also work but don't feel quite as strong is when the story itself has reasons why you can't travel any further. But in the end I more or less hope most games would took this path and turn away from what GTA started where you can explore everything in the first 30 minutes and then it already feels like you've seen everything.
This game still holds up, IMO. crisp, clean graphics, great music, great controls and smooth frame rate. What more do you need in a racer?

Not only am I excited to hear Drivin' Through on Max used for the trailer music, but this is gonna be the first official online F-Zero experience, and THAT is a great privilege we'll finally have. I'd rather a remastered GX with online, but this is great too.

I still play F-Zero X on my N64 to this day. It's one of the best Nintendo racing games of all time and its soundtrack is amazing. "Crazy Call At Cry" (Port Town) and "Decide In The Eyes" (Big Blue) are my favorite songs.

Obviously I would love a proper full release of a new game with online support and 30 player grand prixs (with permadeath) and death races, but a just releasing a Death Race game would be amazing.

Awesome to see it available! This may be wishful thinking but, I would absolutely love if they also added the features from the Nintendo 64 DD version. (Considering how poorly it sold and it never releasing outside of Japan it would make it way more accessible.)

yeah, I really don't get why Nintendo isn't interested in doing this. Nintendo allways trys to be inovative with its games and an F_Zero online game would be something they never tryed before and would definetely sell great.

Wow Nintendo finally acknowledged F-Zero
I actually did some research, F-Zero is the fastest paced futuristic racing game to date. Reaching speeds of over a thousand kilometers per hour, most other future racing games come in at about 600-800kmh maximum.
Finally, this is the Game we are waiting for. Hope Nintendo brings a new F-zero game to switch or at least a new remake of F-zero GX. Nintendo has so many IP that deserve a comeback, hope to see starfox and kid icarus coming back soon too

I'm really digging these full on trailers for each N64 release. Wasn't sure at first how I felt about them changing the release timings for retro NSO games but honestly I'm really liking how they're doing each of these N64 releases even if only once a month. Heck they're even fixing the earlier N64 re-releases that needed it, but I'll take it to get these fun little trailers :)
F-Zero isn't a franchise we see often, but it's a real fun one all the same.
A small detail but I really like how the crashing on the top screen is synced to the music at 0:18. I also noticed them do that at some other points.

The SNES version has been on switch for years and falcon is in every smash bros. Did you really think this game wouldn't be added? It means nothing. They didn't even include the disc drive content.

I can see how they can bring back F-Zero. Adding a custom 3D race track mode. It was only ever released on the 64DD. If it got a release today, I'm sure a lot of people would want to show off their tracks, whether it's creative or simply turning character outlines into race tracks. As for story mode: just made it stupid. Captain Falcon's funny himbo adventures.

Indeed. F-Zero X's soundtrack, as well as visual aesthetic, is so sick. Such a 90's way to go, and while I like the futuristic, techno vibe they went with in GX, it doesn't top X's pleasantly raw and crude art style for the characters and backgrounds, and the amazing guitar tracks they have.
Honestly, F-Zero GX with 40 player online support is a no-brainer for the service. Make it happen Nintendo!
I never played F-Zero X, but I know how difficult F-Zero GX was. Difficult doesn't even the describe the pain and effort you put in, even for advancing at the very beginning of the story mode.

I've had Switch Online for almost two years but just got the expansion pack yesterday. Don't know why I waited so long because it's awesome! I've been playing the heck out of this game. I remember when it came out 25 years ago and I wasn't interested in it. This game is awesome and now I want to play the GameCube one.
A new F-zero game could have 30 player online matches, making custom maps, machine customization. I hope the graphics won’t go to realistic, the low polygon look helps it be clear to look at. Hopefully Nintendo will go for a more comic visual style

This is kind of crazy turn around for Nintendo with these releases. We just got Majora's Mask less than two weeks ago. I hope they keep up with this going forward. Would love new games popping up every 1.5-3 weeks rather than once every couple of months.

I feel like F-Zero, more than most franchises, would make a real good open world racing game. With the ability to travel to various planets, do all kinds of crazy things, dive into the lore and wacky characters. The crazy environments would mean they weren't constrained so much by realistic construction like they are in, say, a Burnout game or Forza.

No way. You go way too fast in F-Zero to have an open-world. Especially with the pathetic specs of the Switch. Just give us a true successor to GX. Thats all we want.

nintendo made a new online multiplayer infrastructure to replace the old one, it's already in monster hunter rise, pokemon legends arceus, and nintendo switch sports

Something tells me that they’re gonna shut down everything using the old matchmaking servers, such as the 3DS and the Wii U stuff in the next few years and update the Switch games still using it (Splatoon 2, NSO NES, Arms) to the new matchmaking service

Say what you want about NSO & how it's better to break the law than pay the price, but I'm so happy that so many people will finally be able to expirence the long forgotten racing greatness that is the F-Zero series

F-Zero X was on Wii and Wii U as well and there still hasn't been a new F-Zero game in 16 years.
Could’ve said this with the inclusion of F-Zero on the SNES service. The N64 library is kind of small when compared to other consoles so they have to put all of their IPs on the service.
But I would love a new F-Zero game, I just don’t think this means anything except another multiplayer game for NSO since the last 3 additions were strictly single player.

One of the best racing games I ever played as a kid!
I remember beating every track in this game as a kid, but I could never get past the 4th stage in GX. Huge difficulty spike from one game to the next.

Other than that, If we all want a new F-Zero game, support this by playing this on the NSO Expansion Pass to show Nintendo that there's still an audience. If Earthbound can get acknowledgment outside of Smash Bros, then so can F-Zero.
I doubt they'd be able to tell considering you have to buy the whole subscription and not just this game. Also they didn't even bother including the expansion kit content. And what acknowledgment did earthbound get?

My god... THAT MUSIC!! Impossible to have a bad taste in music if you grew up playing this fine masterpiece of adrenaline and speed. Online multiplayer will be gorgeous.
I'm tempted to go ahead and get the expansion pack. I played the heck out of the original F-Zero on SNES, and GX on GameCube, but strangely never played X. I can see myself sinking plenty of hours in this with friends :-)

More like milking nostalgia. It's just a port of the Nintendo 64 game. Good game but not exactly new.

We should be happy that Nintendo actually acknowledged F-Zero as well as the Earthbound/Mother series.
@@BlueJourney2719 it's not good enough. Nintendo can clearly do better. Just look at mario odyssey, luigi mansion 3, metroid dread, and splatoon 2.
